We had one little job to be done. We wanted power to my new shed. It's 20 feet from the house. Jim and a friend dug the ditch. Travis came out and gave us a bid for $1125. He didn't go up in the attic (like he said they would have to do), and my husband agreed to be the grunt and help the guy they sent out. Sean came out to do the job, and found a much easier way to do it, and he was only here 3.5 hours. We still got billed for $1125. We went to the company to discuss the bill. Everyone there was very nice until Travis came out in a very loud voice telling us that he gave us a bid/estimate, and we signed it, and we owed it. Even though it took a fraction of the time he thought it would, and my husband was the grunt. WTH? Travis said it was NOT time and materials, but I just kept telling him that we did not know that, and he should have told us. Like anyone else, we thought that the $1125 bill would be the highest price. We did get the cost of the project lowered by $300, but he made sure to tell us that he would add in his time coming up to give us a FREE estimate. And guess what?! We came home, read everything they gave us, and it said TIME and MATERIALS. Be very, very careful if you use this company. Make sure you have everything in writing and if it IS time and materials (like most companies do), or is it just a flat price regardless. This company has been in business in McMinnvlle Oregon for many years. I picked it because it has a high rating. What a shock to learn that they are thieves and liars. We are going to go back just to see what he has to say when we confront him with the "time and materials" that the job was supposedly priced at. He's a bully, and should never be dealing with people. read more
