Today I went to this place for breakfast/ brunch I ordered a Farmhouse Cafe Breakfast with bacon and sourdough bread. I wanted something sweet too and I ordered a Red Velvet cake. I chose breakfast with scrambled eggs and it comes in a combo with coffee. I also chose the homestyle potatoes and everything was delicious and very well served. In fact, I had to bring half of everything to my house The house coffee here is very very good; I ordered 2% milk, but they only handle Skim , which is fine. And they also have brown sugar... yeiii!!! Customer Service is always excellent. My waitress was very friendly and very attentive. She remembered me...They are always aware of customers; respectful and very polite. The place is always very clean and super well decorated. Hadn't been to the Cresskill location in years until last weekend. Arrived around 6:30 PM on a Friday evening and was seated right away. Ordered wings and a gyro dish--the gyro was excellent, while the wings were tasty but slightly chilly and a bit dry. Not bad, but not the best. That said, I frequently order their salads to go and always enjoy them. The kitchen staff could use some additional training, as a nearby table complained about their order. The younger staff members were very attentive and hardworking--perhaps they just need a bit more guidance. Overall, it's a solid spot in town with plenty of seating and a BYOB option. While I personally prefer the Westwood location for its atmosphere, this one is convenient and charming, with both indoor and outdoor seating and ample parking. read more

We were driving by and saw a packed parking lot and that was a good reason to stop and have lunch. Definitely a local dining destination with a farm, coffee house vibe. I got the Cowboy burger and changed out the BBQ sauce for a chipotle mayonnaise and with the frizzled crispy onions, quality Angus beef burger cooked medium. Hit the mark for me. My wife had the Falafel sandwich and the Mediterranean chopped salad was fresh. When she added the hummus as you see in the picture, she said is was a flavorful and balance meal. Lovely place in the middle of nowhere. This Farmhouse is one of two locations. I've visited the other one in Westwood, NJ and the comparison is not made equal. The Westwood location is bigger with higher volume of people so there is a wait. As for this location it's more of the comfy feel. You can have that quiet experience whether on a date or with your kids. The food here is made fresh to order. You can taste it with every bite for sure. The menu is geared more on the Israeli background which makes it unique and none like any other. So it will have you coming back for more. The dining area at this location is quite charming. Double check your bills. Among many visits to Farmhouse, I had this unpleasant, weird experience "after" dining when the check arrived & the credit card transaction. What was weird was that the bill came to $45, and after the credit card transaction it was around $52 something .... maybe about 18% tip already added ....???? Hummmmm Asked one of the servers regarding this auto tipping, and he answered "yes", that it has been happening for a couple of months. So, I wrote "Included" in the gratuity section, and signed the $52 bill. Well, to my surprise, one of the guys ram after us into the parking and commented that tip is not included automatically and corrected me. The story ends : our server had given us the wrong check, the server had give me the wrong information (wouldn't like to say he lied .....), and I am thankful I remembered the8 amount for my bill. So, a good habit for me to develop from now on at any restaurant. Check your bills. And I understand weekends can be busy, but it was sooooooo hard to get someone or anyone's attention. They have their backs to the dining hall while putting in info at the register, so obviously if sitting at the far end, it could take forever. read more

Visited Farmhouse Cafe for a late lunch with my family on a Sunday. I think the restaurant used to be a barn? The decor is pretty rustic, lots of wood and glass windows. We were seated quickly, and they took our drink orders. I ordered the Rockfeller Shakshouka. It was an interesting take on shakshouka, which had the poached eggs floating in a pool of spinach, artichoke, goat cheese, crab, and mozzarella. It's a lot heavier than a regular shakshouka, but who doesn't love a good spinach and artichoke dip? It came with pita, fries, and a Greek salad, so it was quite a hearty meal. My family stopped for lunch here today. We came in close to 2PM and there was hardly a wait for our party of 5. The staff quickly took our drink orders and returned quickly so we could order food. I went with the Salmon Eggs Benedict with home fried. It was exactly what I expected. The portion was generous and it tasted good. The home fries were also cooked well. Bits were well done which added a welcome crunch to them. I sampled my brother's Rockefeller Shakshouka and I enjoyed it very much. I had never had shakshouka before so I can't speak to whether it is a faithful rendition, butt it was definitely tasty. I also had a bit of my father's hamburger. It wasn't bad but it was lacking a little in flavor to me. The meat itself was good and cooked medium well just like my dad ordered (personally I order burgers medium). That said I probably would stay away from the burgers on subsequent visits. My mom and sister seemed to enjoy their food as well. Service was friendly and the rustic/farmhouse aesthetic made for a quaint atmosphere. I like that they have the option for outdoor dining (not an option for a 100°F day though). DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT FROM THEIR WEBSITE! I probably would've given them a 3 star review until our last order. We placed an order for deliver from their website. They use DoorDash to deliver. I don't have a DoorDash account. My order came with the salad pretty destroyed. They probably shouldn't have put a hard plastic container with hot food on top of a cardboard salad box. The receipt states to contact the restaurant (not doordash) with any issues. Called to ask for a refund on one food item and the tip. I was told a manager would reach out. A manager hadn't called after 48 hrs so I gave them a call back to be told that the food left their restaurant in perfect condition and I had to take it up with Doordash if my salad "arrived shaken," which was not how i described it. Huge menu! Lots of options here. Farmhouse came highly recommended by family. Their favorite things are the burgers and the salads. The salads are expensive for the portion, but they are very yummy. Farmhouse has a great indoor/outdoor ambiance. The restaurant flies right into the patio. We were inside, but enjoyed the breeze and sunlight on our spring afternoon visit. It was myself and my 12 yo and my 13 yo nephew. Both boys orders burgers. Rave reviews all the way around. My son even mentioned how good the meat was, he's not much of a foodie, so any compliment tells me it's good. I ordered the falafel sandwich with a side salad. The falafel was a bit herby and wet for me. I prefer a crispier falafel. The cabbage slaw was good, lots of cabbage. I also like a more flavorful garlic sauce. ***2 1/2 stars*** Our brunch at Farmhouse was a reminder that regardless of the quality of the food/menu, the service will make or break the experience. My chum and I came here for a post-hike brunch on Saturday afternoon after the lunch rush. After mild drama trying to figure out how to navigate around the slightly confusing traffic patterns nearby in downtown Cresskill, we easily found a spot right by the door and were seated almost immediately. It was a little too nippy for it, but the outdoor seating looks very appealing; there's a bit of a vineyard vibe to it, with a patio area covered by a wooden arbor/roof. The interior also had a pleasant atmosphere; they understandably went with a rustic farmhouse theme, along with excellent lighting - one side of the restaurant is almost all windows. A good choice. I ordered the Brioche French Toast with Strawberries (about $15), which were perfectly fine. They absolutely needed the accompanying syrup for flavoring purposes - even with the strawberries, it was a bit bland/flavorless. That's usually not the case in my experience. Maybe they need to add more butter in the prep process? I wouldn't avoid it in the future, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. My chum got the Grilled Atlantic Salmon Sandwich (about $18). From my vantagepoint, it looked to be 75% toppings and 25% salmon, which she didn't dispute. Regardless, she enjoyed it a great deal and thought it quite tasty. She also ordered a cold mocha that visually had a lot to be desired. I've attached a picture hereto, and you can see they didn't bother to mix the chocolate - it looks more like a chocolate milk you'd order from a diner than a higher-class latte variation, but she said it tasted like it should, which is the most important thing. What would have been at least an average brunch experience unfortunately was marred by uneven service and what looked from my perspective to be badly managed staff. I don't know if a manager or supervisor was on the premises when we were there, but it certainly didn't look like it. When I went to use the bathroom, cutting through the front/small bakery area, there were three or four employees just standing around gazing sullenly at either me or their cell phones. I don't expect a welcoming committee everywhere I go in a restaurant, but I'm also not crazy about feeling like I'm in the way or interrupting a riveting game of Candy Crush. They all looked to be around college-age so there probably wasn't a lot of professional job experience there, but the idea that someone hasn't given them constructive feedback about basic human interaction with customers and taking breaks (assuming some of them were on them) in a private area off the floor is a little eyebrow-raising to me. Our waiter was pleasant enough but there were a few occasions during our meal where he disappeared for large chunks of time. For instance, he came by our table quickly to confirm drinks (so quickly we hadn't had a chance to look at the drink section of the menu and just asked for waters to start), but then didn't show up again for 10 minutes. That would have been easier to swallow if the restaurant had been crowded (I'd say three or four other tables were occupied at the time) and if we didn't have visual evidence to confirm that employees were twiddling their thumbs in the next room. But the food itself came out fairly quickly upon ordering, so you could argue some of the issues there cancel out. There's definitely potential, and clearly a lot of investment has gone into the interior/exterior design to great effect. But based on our meal, they may want to divert some of their resources to staff training. read more

Tucked away close to Tenafly, the food was very good. We sat upstairs on wooden chairs and tables, ordering promptly from a pretty expansive menu. Options included plenty of omelettes, salads (including the delicious cobb salad with avocado) and wraps (eg chicken avocado wrap). Our waiter unfortunately did not take down our order correctly. The food took a while to arrive and there were a few quirky additions to our dishes (eg my kale salad had balls of cream cheese) plus added ingredients that we specifically asked to have removed. Diet cokes ended up being cokes by accident. But overall, I highly recommend this spot. The food was high quality and despite our waiter issues, we left feeling full and satisfied. I have only been here twice but I had great fresh food both times as well as good service. Just know that full breakfast/brunch menu is only served on weekends. Salad and their dressing is good. Pancakes are good. Sandwiches are good. They have really good coffee and a bakery section. I bought the ground coffee for home which is good too. Desserts are good I tried the tiramisu and the peanut butter explosion!! Not a fan of the chick sausage though. Its cute inside. Outdoor seating is available. However, the burger cost $13 and although the waiter made it seem like it came with a complementary side, I realized later that the fries cost an extra $2. Even though the food was good quality, $15 for the burger and fries probably isn't the best value. The waiter was friendly and service was average in speed. One of the best parts of this restaurant is its charming decor. There is a nice outdoor seating area in addition to the indoor tables.
