Their market runs from May - October and is located in downtown Bend in Brooks Alley. It was not as big as I had hoped but there was still an ample amount of fruits, veggies, meats, baked goods, flowers, pies, and other vendors showing their products. What I was so excited about was how fresh the produce was. Being a desert dweller, so much of our produce has to travel in from other places and it tends to get so dry. The strawberries here were just so juicy! The red peppers were gorgeous. After we walked around for a bit, It was close to lunch to I ordered a wood fired pizza. Fresh out of the oven, it was just what we needed. There are tables where you can eat or you can walk down to Drake Park and enjoy a great view of the Deschutes River while you dine. All the vendors were friendly and helpful and when I return I will attend again.

Well if you're ever in Bend, Oregon (and are wondering the same thing) we'd recommend giving their Farmer's Market in the Northwest Crossing neighborhood a try. If I were to overly simplify the local vibe I'd describe it as laidback. Not like the SoCal surfer mindset where most things are deemphasized in importance ("Dude, you should just chill!), but more like the quality of life mindset where living and appreciating each moment carries great value ("Man, isn't it great to be HERE right now?"). Clearly participating in the proverbial "rat race" holds little value in this place. Hosted every Saturday (June-September, 10:00-2:00) you'll find a wide array of unique booths to stroll by. You might expect the fresh produce, but may be surprised by the honey, gourmet mushrooms, grass fed beef, pies, hummus, and soaps. The emphasis here is on the local products that they proudly produce. We heard about the Farmer's Market from several of the locals and they suggested that spending 2 hours is pretty typical. While we wondered if that might be more than we needed, we found ourselves losing track of time because we became immersed in meandering about just soaking up the atmosphere and chatting with the locals (both the attendees and the vendors). You always see him working his tail off in there - rotating product, wetting down the highly perishables, or organizing the awesome condiments they sell. We count down the days every year until the stand opens, and weep when it closes. Shoot, we go in when we don't even need anything just because we want to shop there. On my inaugural visit this week, I noted there were a variety of (mostly) local vendors selling high quality fresh produce, a good food truck, and some interesting local crafts/apparel (e.g. hand made leather items). The location is exceptionally nice for a farmers market, with beautiful lawns, water fountains, seating, park tables, a bike repair station, wide sidewalks, and walking distance to many more businesses throughout downtown Redmond. The highlight for my young kids was definitely the food truck and that the farmers market is next to the Centennial Park splash pad (a fountain for playing in the water). We perused the stands, purchased some tasty food, sat on the lawn and ate, and then watched the kids play in the water. For those trying to find it, the market is located in Centennial Park in Redmond, OR and meets on Tuesdays 3-6pm throughout June to early September.

Good reminder that local doesn't always mean better was had here the other day as rhubarb, from a local yard they said, was not ripe, limp and past prime while rhubarb at Whole Foods,not local, was ripe and in crisp prime condition. Beautiful spring green Walla Walla onions, hard to find, were available at Paradise Produce and delicious. They also had resh Oregon berries, the delicate gems were just on the cusp of being past edible given how fragile they are once picked. But at last Paradise had them when others didn't. With so many good produce alternatives in Bend, this isn't one I think of often, but AOK for what it is. Thumbs up for the fact that they are finally wheelchair accessible at front here, old location was step up. Small paved lot at back also has accessible parking.

Mix of produce stands, small bakeries, pickles, arts and craft type items, CBD lotions, dog treats. Everybody is so nice and friendly here, tourists and locals and vendors. Nice change from the stressed-out Farmers Markets around that have a big selection but hot pavement, the people are usually rude or just worn out. At Sisters Farmers Market I met some great ranchers with perfect cuts of grass-fed beef, they also sell eggs, turned out they are neighbors of ours in Tumalo area. Our kids run around in the splash pad. Wife likes the music. Also nice that it's right across the street from Sisters Saloon (great ribs), The Barn food trucks (good drinks, pizza, vegan bowls).

Found this place at 4th of July Freedom Festival in Klamath Falls. They serve fresh roasted corn…read moreon the cob that's best ever! The owners are a couple who are very friendly. You can have your corn dipped in butter before shower at their spice bar. We skipped this part and dressed the corn with fresh lemon juice as the owner suggested. Then, we added a little bit of Parmesan cheese and Cajun spice. The combination sounded weird to me but turned out surprisingly well. We liked it so much that we went back the next day and bought more to share with family on our way back home:P
