This Farm boy location is a gem ! Everything is so clean and orderly ! Staff are super friendly and they have cute monkeys hanging in the vegetables/fruits section ! The bakery section is my personal favourite !!! We bought macadamia white chocolate cookies and cheese croissants awhile back and my bf and I were in love ! Today we bought chocolate croissants and a watermelon from there and it did not disappoint ! The chocolate croissants are sooooooo delicious and tasted super fresh . The chunks of chocolate in it left me craving more with every bite . Initially I was just going take a few small bites cause of the calories but it was too delicious that I ended up devouring the whole thing :/. The watermelon was also super sweet and juicy . For bags , you can choose a brown paper bag (25c) or a reusable bag (99c). Highly recommend everyone to check Farm boy out especially the bakery sections! read more

This Farm Boy store is the second-closest one to my home. It takes me roughly half an over to get this this location from Markham by car. I love how much parking is available here. I got a decent parking spot and went inside. I was hoping to get some Vegan Rob snacks. Sadly, this line wasn't in the store, which was disappointing. However, I ended up filling the void with other goodies. I'm fine, really! I ended up buying these air-puffed potato snacks by Spokes. I got them in barbeque flavour. They are vegan and dairy-free. I brought them into a work meeting with my small team. I also bought a box of white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Let's just say that my team devoured everything. The Spokes potato snacks are yummy, filling, and amazing. You eat them guilt-free. They loved the cookies. They were fresh, delicious, and perfect. This store is clean and inviting. I was pleased to see a beer section with a decent mix of craft and mainstream brands and flavours. Part of me wanted to get ice cream sandwiches. The problem was not having them melt, so I had to pass. As usual, there are food samples. I tried some chick pea chips that had a subtle mustard flavour. I was probably standing in front of these chips longer than I should have been. Okay, so I ate about a quarter of what would be a bag of them. They were delicious and I did buy groceries here. Staff are friendly and helpful. There wasn't a huge lineup when I went there at 9:30 am. There were a decent number of shoppers like me at this hour. I'd definitely come back here to shop. This is Durham's version of whole foods and it's great. Fresh foods from Ontario farms, which means you are basically #shoppinglocal It's a healthy grocery store with lots of local brands and they even create tons of food with their own branding. Their sea salt popcorn is a perfect treat. I've never heard of farmboy, so I spent my time just wandering around seeing what there is. I was delighted to see they make their own salad dressings, in unique and delicious-sounding flavours (lemon garlic... gah, take me now). They offered a bunch of other stuff like jam, snacks etc. Then they also had the generic grocery store brands that you can find in loblaws, no frills etc - I did find some of their generic branded items were a buck or two more than if you were to go to loblaws etc. Most of their items are well priced, matched to the generic grocery stores. They also have a fresh food bar, where you can make your own meal. Now, I always do this at whole foods but there were very unique and tasty looking options on the hot food bar.. they had rare flank steak.. YASS PLEASE. Ooou, and they also have a hot soup bar. I am obsessed. Then you wander into the danger zone.. the treats. With fresh cupcakes in glass cases to prepackaged cinnamon rolls, this place is en route to give you your own set of rolls.. if you catch my drift. I was happy to see they had a lot of vegan options here - I saw whole cakes, cupcakes etc that were 100% vegan.. I think gluten free as well. It's nice to know they have stuff for my vegan people out there - I know it is SOO difficult to find vegan cake without going to a specialty store. Geez. They have a little seating area where you can enjoy your fresh food, or microwave some meals/food/cinnamon buns you bought. Pricey compared to many other grocery stores. Yoghurt, bread, sauces etc generally can be found cheaper elsewhere. However, the quality of products, particularly fresh fruit and veg and meats/cheeses etc from the deli counter generally are far superior to many other places. read more

This is a really great grocery store that I wish was closer to where I live. If you have ever been to Trader Joes and Wegmans Grocery in Buffalo, this is kind of like those two got together and had a baby. I would probably rate it 5 stars if they had a bit more selection in some of the non-fresh food areas. They have a great produce section with lots of organic, but also lots of affordable options for those of those who prefer to be more frugal. I was surprised at how good a buy some of their produce was. They specialize in local produce, meat, and fish, so you can get lots of really fresh things along with the usual stuff that comes packed from far away. The butcher section is really good and has some nice weekly specials. Their chipotle lime schnitzel is delicious. A good third of the store is devoted to fresh prepared food, with a sushi counter, pizza counter, deli, sandwich counter, bakery, hot and cold food bars. There is also a large cheese section in this area along with the frozen food and dairy section. They do have a place to eat in if you want to buy a meal and sit to eat. I love this store so much! My only problem is that it's not closer to my house! The produce and meats are always so fresh and delicious looking. They have a large selection of both. They even have some more exotic meats you wouldn't normally find in a grocery store. I have tried a few of their store brand items and I haven't been disappointed yet. This is the first grocery store in Ontario that I have seen beer at so far. They have a nice selection of craft beer. They have a great cheese counter and if there isn't a sample out, there will be a description of the cheese which is really helpful. The store made soups are fantastic! You can get a bowl to go, or pick up a container to heat up later. You can also get sushi, stir fries, pizza I believe, and their buffet style hot and salad bar which is by weight. I love coming to farm boy! I wish there was one closer to Markham. I came in here looking for something specific (cauliflower puffs) and was told they only had them for the winter holidays (I was crushed). The produce is fresh and there are lots of vegan options. i love this grocery store. Their products are super fresh, and they try to source as much local produce as possible, from their fruits and vegetables from local farms in Ontario and Quebec, to their meats as well - esp the organic ones are all from local farms. I like their concept of having everything "Farm Boy" brand for most items, but they still carry some popular brands as well. They love supporting local brands so I"m very glad to see some of those products carrying in their stores. Meat is super great quality and fresh and when it's on sale it's a steal. They often have some near expiring products anywhere from 20-50% off but honestly they are still in very good quality even when they are on quick sale. After 6-7pm their sandwiches and wraps are usually 50% off so they are only about $3 each! Deli counter is also great because they let you sample them, and I love that they have their own oven roast for those who don't want to eat the processed cold cuts - they are cooked as a roast in house and then sliced/shaved. I come here pretty much for all my regular grocery shopping now and I hope to see more of these stores pop up towards the west! read more

I love Farm Boy. Everything is fresh and the staff is very polite and friendly. During one of my visits, I was looking for one soup and a gentleman (he might be a chef/cook) went out of his way to bring me to the soup section near the entrance instead of pointing and giving direction. He even gave me suggestions! You'll most likely not get this type of service at your regular grocery store. Pricing wise, some items are definitely more expensive than Lowblaws, No Frills, etc. However, you're also paying for quality. Love that their produce are fresh as well as their eatery section. Big location; has tables/chairs to enjoy your meal, soup/salad bar, hot bar, bakery, cakes, stone oven pizza, sandwiches and sushi. Fresh cheese and meat as well. I would rate it 5 as I shop here all the time but some of their farm boy brand products are down right disgusting. In particular their Snack Collation - ancient grain sticks and organic fiery dill pickles went straight to the garbage. The artisan crackers black currant and olive crackers were stale. Purchased all those items at the same time so was disappointed in that. Some of their other products such as nachos, pita chips, ginger cookies are quite good. It seems like it's hit and miss with their farm boy brand products. Would be great if they had better quality control. I do like they don't add much preservatives in their products so I'll give them that. read more

Where was this 10 years ago?! Best grocery store Whitby has to offer! Come here if you enjoy fresh food! I always go around the store and find interesting stuff. Lots of vegan/vegetarian options for when I'm shopping for Iriana. They also make it easy and have that V or Ve label. Staff are very friendly and super helpful. High end specialty type grocery store. Nice to come here and see brands you don't normally see. They have lots of product samples and a great warm food table. Fresh pizza, sushi, soups (try the Thai coconut curry yummmmm). Bakery has more artisan baked breads and try the cinnamon twists! Worth checking out although they are way pricier than no frills. Just to update - the sushi here is barf. Tried the dynamite roll and it is cold and mushy and really tasteless even after adding soy sauce. Love this place for its sandwiches and salads. My favourites are the roast beef and chicken toasted sandwiches. I'm always looking for an excuse to go there. The prices are great for a fresh, delicious, healthy meal. They've got a clean seating area too. As for the grocery store part of it, the options are a little limited. I don't particularly buy organic products exclusively but it's still nice to browse. Try the Farm Boy hummus dips - roasted red pepper is my favourite. read more

Farm Boy is a much needed addition to the Sobeys/Metro/Superstore dominated Durham Region scene. A beautiful, clean store that's not too big, filled to the brim with fresh produce, meat, fish, and all the pre-made food you could want for dinner or lunch. Farm Boy takes the 'store brand' idea used at so many of the other chains but focuses on fresh and organic, so there's always an option for what to get. There's a wide variety too, not just soup, or sauces, but eggs and milk. Farm Boy isn't quite as high end as Pusateri's or McEwan in Toronto, but on the flip side the prices are much more in line with Metro. For example, fresh wild salmon at Pusateri's is $28/pound, but only $9/pound at Farm Boy. Farm Boy is a pure grocery store though - so don't expect to get your toilet paper and light bulbs here - it's all about the food. read more

Love this place. I buy most of my groceries here because of the selection and freshness. Basic stuff I recommend shopping at your big box store. I definately recommend trying their fresh pizza. This place is great. Only one issue but will save that to the end. This place is very well laid out, tons of fresh fruits, veggies, lots of organic and fresh produce. Their hot table is amazing it's like your own take out restaurant being made in front of you. The salad bar and soups are always fresh and topped up well. I honestly would say the prices are pretty reasonable I've seen some of this stuff go for higher at Metro. Also the quality far reaches the price, you don't leave thinking it was a waste of money. Only issue! The check outs are long and there is a reason why above how busy they are. They poor workers at checkout seem to have codes for everything! So as easy as it easy for us to pick and choose what we buy or put into a box, they need to find the right code, which is very time consuming and backlogs the process. I had two people in front of me and it took me 10 minutes to pay with their back and forth (almost like haggling) over the quantity and type something was compared to what's on the floor read and what the cashier sees. So happy to finally have a great grocery store in Durham now. Farm Boy is the only place I will be doing my groceries! They have a ton of fresh produce and a wide variety of seasoned meats to choose from. My girlfriend and I tried their Margherita Pizza and that tasted pretty amazing, not to mention how fresh it was. They also have these cool lunch packs for $5 that comes with a sandwich, juice box, apple, and cookies...pretty good for $5. I also enjoy the fact that if I can't cook that night I can pop in there and grab a fresh dinner and choose some sides from there wide selection of sides. I like Farmboy fine for produce and certain purchases. They bag for you and you can find nice cheese etc. However, we recently ordered 2 of the Easter dinner turkey meals for $149 each for a family dinner party, and were quite disappointed with everything. The box is big and the turkeys were a fair size, but it tasted nothing like even a cook-from-frozen turkey tastes (it was more like when you just buy a frozen turkey breast in a box). Bland, dry, not very good. The gravy and all of the sides and vegetables were less than mediocre, even the roasted small potatoes (required way way more cooking than the instructions said) and strange seasoned mashed potatoes. Oddly garlicky sweet potato mush. Guests were put off by the appearance of the "weird looking" full size assorted carrots which again would need way more cooking than instructed. Our guests were polite enough but nobody at all went back for seconds. We had a lot leftover including a whole container of stuffing which went moldy in the fridge in its container in a couple of days. We ate a bit more turkey as leftovers but most of everything else had to go into the recycle bin. We enjoyed the couple of complimentary tarts, that's the best we can say. Live and learn. read more

I think the staff is what makes shopping here just wonderful... helpful smiling and just eager to help and please.... their buffet is awesome and love to be able to grab a salad and a coffee and relax. They were out of the brown and black rice sushi and the girl stopped and made me some... and seemed happy to do so! You must try this stuff will blow your socks off! Really happy to be able to shop without that cookie cutter mega grocery chain feel. They carry a good range of healthy and gluten free products. I just had the weirdest experience here. customer service needs some serious work.

The first trip to the new store was memorable by the huge crowd inside which was expected. We went back on a Saturday night about 7:00pm but the crowd was still large. We took our time to check out every facet of the store this time. We left without a purchase. The aisles are small, the regular weekly shopping item selection is sparse; the seafood counter was a joke with scallops the size of a nickel ! I saw nothing this time around that I can't get and better at other existing outlets in town. I'm not sure why I would go back. read more
