Our condo presented a real puzzle -- multiple challenges stacked on top of each other: 1. A 100A unit limit (calculated by Faraday after examining our building's electrical panel), which capped the circuit at 40A max 2. Our circuit box is in the bedroom on the 2nd level; the charger needed to go on the 1st level 3. No direct access between the bedroom and garage 4. No adjacent open slots in the circuit box David assessed the situation and presented a clear, workable plan: rearrange circuits in the box, cut a few strategic holes in the ceiling and walls to route wire across the room, through the floor, and into the garage. What gave me confidence going in: Faraday had done the same kind of job for one of our neighbors here in the Kearny Mesa area back in 2021. They were kind enough to let me see how the project turned out. They gave it the thumbs up -- and there wasn't a trace of the installation process anywhere. Just a clean, finished result. David is in high demand and is a dedicated worker, so our schedule timing didn't initially align for his first visit -- that was our only hiccup. He came back for the installation about a week later and wrapped it up in roughly two hours. He was neat, tidy, and respectful of our home throughout. My wife offered him lunch while he was working; he said he'd rather finish the job first and take it with him -- which he did. I scheduled Faraday through the ChargePoint website to install an EV charger in my home. I spoke with someone named Joe on the phone, sent them photos and videos of my electric panels and where the charger should go. Faraday responded with an emailed quote and they seemed eager to start the work... Then they never showed up. After wasting a day waiting for them, I called to ask why they never arrived. I received a bs answer and the promise of a follow up email the next day. I never received an email or any other communication from them explaining why they blew off the job. What they failed to mention is that the charger was still under Tesla's warranty. All I needed to do was contact Tesla via the 1-800 number or request service through the Tesla app. Tesla promptly sent me a full replacement unit that was incredibly simple to install--just a matter of popping off the faceplate and replacing it. Con: seems they are just a middle man that outsources other electric companies to do their work in San Antonio. The estimated cost for the service changed 3 different times and more than doubled by the time the work was done. They had to come multiple times to finish the work as they didn't have all the materials needed. They had the charger model and knew the required amp needed besides the fact we spoke about it at the beginning. Return to finish work went from a couple of weeks to about a month. Luckily they left the charger usable during that time. For the price the work was not as clean I would have expected. Sent pictures about the work and no attempt was made to make it right. I'm a customer who check ratings before putting an order. And that's why I picked Faraday Electric when I had my Tesla charger installed. Obvious the rating is misleading this time. Or I should say, I cannot believe this company gets such a high rating while there're so many negtive feedbacks and 1 star rating. As said in many feedbacks, this company charges a high fee to get the city permit but the permit never shows up. And they won't give any update after months. I had an EV wall charger installed. Work is good, but I was quoted $500 and they charged $900. I argued about the price, and they said it was because they used 40 feet of conduit and it took the electrician extra time. I measured and it was 20 feet of conduit and the electrician was done in less than an hour. After some tense back and forth (via text), Victor called me from their office and argued with me over the phone. Because I measured the conduit, he dropped the price to $850. The thing that irritated me was that the technician did not indicate how expensive their conduit was. I could have had them install the charger within a few feet of the electrical panel if I'd have known this bit of tubing was going to cost me $300. When I said that to Victor, he told me I should have read the contract. After providing such photos, the team decides to install the Tesla charger on the sub-panel (which is the mistake). After the installation, we constantly have issues with the charging process. I was promised a 3 year warranty while getting my quote; which was the deciding factor the made me choose them. Unfortunately once the work was completed they sent over a receipt that stated I only had a 1 year warranty. I emailed them on March 31st immediately to rectify the situation to which I didn't get a reply. I then reached out via text on April 4th and didn't get a response until about 3 days later saying that they would make the corrections and send it over. I still haven't received it and have reached out a few more times since with no reply. Not sure how this company has a 4.6-star rating... I contacted Faraday to get a quote on installing a Tesla Wall Charger in my garage. Within minutes of submitting pictures and information into their online application, I had a call from "Rudy" promising me they could come to my house the next day to install the charger and that they would even "waive" their normal pick up fee. I explained that I wanted the job permitted and told him that I had some reservations about reviews that I had been seeing in Yelp regarding lack of follow-through. Rudy explained that there had been a hiccup with one of their personnel that was key in the permitting process, but that it was resolved. Based on his assurances, I said we could move forward, but only after they had secured the permit from my local jurisdiction. I paid extra for them to process the permit. A couple weeks later, permit in hand, we scheduled the job. Their electrician arrived on time, did the installation, and the charger worked as expected. I provided feedback at that time, that I wasn't totally jazzed about how they routed the conduit from the electrical panel to the charger. Specifically, instead of running the conduit 6 inches higher on top of the open joists of my garage, the conduit passed right next to the rail of my garage door opener. The response made it sound like this was required, but having extensive contracting experience, I know that running conduit over the joists was not required by code and will only make replacing the garage door opener more difficult in the future. The real problem here is that they took my $$$ to permit the job, but never followed up on closing out the permit. Never scheduled an inspection and never responded to my communications after I had already paid. I guess their permit-scam is still ongoing and thankfully the local electrical inspector let me close out the permit without their participation. read more

1 star for very poor communication. The company took about 4-5 months (installed summer 2024) after initial contact to install a Tesla Gateway. The install was fine (I think) in terms of wiring however it didn't work and the company never bothered to troubleshoot. After a year of back/forth with Tesla support, Tesla concluded the gateway itself is faulty, which is not Faraday's fault. However, Tesla reached out multiple times to Faraday to send them a new one and Faraday never returned their calls. Tesla eventually gave up and I have tried calling, emailing, and reaching out through Yelp with no replies over the last month. I can only assume this company has gone out of business. read more

After much consideration, I have to reduce my rating from a 5 star to a 1 star. Faraday's contractor license is expired, and they are not able to issue permits to anyone. My entire tax return is now held up because I can't submit my permit number for the EV charger federal tax rebate. Do not use Faraday for anything. Their customer service is also absolute garbage, half the time you call any of their phone numbers, it gives you the message " The google voice subscriber you're trying to reach can't be contacted". These hacks didn't even complete their voicemail greeting, farless for my permits. I am now getting Yelp support and the BBB involved. I got a better quote from them so I scheduled an appointment. I did mention that I had the GEN 2 charger. The electrician showed up and thought it was going to be a GEN 3. I was given the impression that Gen 3 is easier to install than Gen 2. The installation did indeed take longer which is no problem because I was moving and cleaning. The job was done cleanly and organized. Although my face plate was accidentally broken by the electrician they were able to compensate for it. Very professional and reliable. I called + emailed around 22 competitors (I take my time), including Tesla Certified ones, non-certified ones, and even a few unlicensed electricians. Faraday gave the best quote by far- although I was wary about the low quote, the work proposal (13+ pages) they sent me prior to setting the appointment was extensively prepared/detail oriented. Our house is a tricky one, with an outdated panel in our backyard (as far as can it can possibly be from where we wanted the charger). Kevin was able to make it work by going through the crawlspace- he finished in less than 2.5 hrs without rousing our dogs too much, nor waking our newborn. Just look how clean it turned out. I didn't even mention the dead outlets in our yard installed by the previous homeowners, and Kevin pointed those out for us. I put in for a quote and received a response and set an appointment for a 1-3 window, by 2:50 no one had showed up or called. I texted the company and asked were they still coming a d I was told there was an issue at the previous job and they were trying to establish an eta. I didn't want to sit and wait to long past our agreed window so I asked if they would be there within the 3-4 time-frame and if not I need to reschedule, I got no response. I then call and no answer. Faraday Electric installed two Tesla wall chargers last September. The installation was working fine until recent rains, which leaked into the electrical panel sitting on an outside wall of my garage. The leak came from the unsealed cutout made by the installer of the Tesla wall charger (see attached photo). This leak has caused 3 of the circuit breakers inside the panel to malfunction. I reported the issue to Faraday Electric on Friday, and was told that the earliest an electrician can come is next Wednesday.
