Located right across the plaza from the Regal Edwards Theater at The Lakes Mall, this chicken shop was clean, however we felt that the food and service were just okay. FOOD: Nothing was bad, but nothing "wowed" us either. First, we ordered the Spicy Tuna Nachos ($12.95) appetizer, which was actually served last (not sure why restaurants don't understand the concept of an appetizer...it's supposed to come pre-meal). We tried the 12-piece Wings ($17.95), splitting the flavors between Lemon Pepper and Garlic Soy (flavors weren't very bold), as well as the Chicken Katsu Curry Bowl ($12.95), which I thought was a little dense/heavy. We also ordered both bottled and draft beers, and I thought that they could have been served much colder. Overall, it was only okay, and we decided that we probably wouldn't go out of our way to return.
Stopped by yesterday to Have their food again, I never had a bad experience with this place until today. We ordered wings and the "Joint Burrito" you can never go wrong with the wings. But unfortunately, the joint burrito was 95% only rice and very little meat. We went yesterday around 7pm and very sad that all I tasted was rice. I don't know how you guys portion the food but please make sure all employees know the best way to make these meals. I've had the joint burrito before and there was lots of flavors in this specific burrito. So it definitely depends on the cook.. but I don't want to gamble every time I come and "hope to get a decent burrito ". Wings were good as always.
I've had this restaurant in my list of collection to try so I finally did today. The restaurant is clean, spacious, cool and had great music playing. The staff were friendly and patient since I wasn't sure what to order. I decided on the Frisco Melt. The patty had great flavor, cooked perfectly and was served on Texas toast. The fries, which it comes with were simple but, fire! Low key reminded me of McDonald's. My niece ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Unfortunately, she didn't like the flavor of the sauce. If you're used to a sweeter, thicker sauce you probably wouldn't like it either. I tasted it and it's okay. I prefer a sweeter sauce. This is more soy sauce based. I could see this bowl being so good if that sauce was on point but, the chicken was cooked great and the rice was on point too! Overall, I would definitely recommend dining in here. My son added a sunny side up egg for $1.50 to his Melt and he absolutely loved it. We will be come back to try their wings. They look delicious!!!

The price leans on the heavier-mid side, but I like how the place handles the Asian and Latin fusion balance. The workers function at a diner level and are quick and clean. The place is like a sports bar that happens to keep a fun balance between kimchi & aioli and tacos and nachos. Their "Joint" options are always a safe choice. Good place to eat before or after any movie you see at the local Edwards.
Far East Joint is in the Lakes plaza! You order first before seating, and they will bring your order to the table. I saw people sit and eat, but there were also a lot of people ordering to go. The Joint Burrito is one of my Top 3 burritos in the area. It is packed full with fried rice and bulgogi, each bite was perfect. This is a MUST order!
I really wanted to like this place but they are too stingy with their portions especially the asada nachos. I ordered the asada Nachos and when I got home, I was super disappointed to see how little food they gave me. I ate 1-2 nachos and already hit the bottom of the container. They didn't even fill it out around the container. I wouldn't even be mad if they didn't give me enough meat but they didn't even give me enough of their stupid wonton nacho chips. The taste was pretty good 8/10 but no way was this plate worth $15. I know the economy is rough for everyone and they have to cut corners but these guys won't last if they keep giving out these BS size nachos.
Love this place! Food is always fresh! We tried something new on the menu & it was pretty good, shrimp tempura bowl for all you non meat eaters lol. It came with rice & salad & it 3 shrimp, so yummy. I love their salad dressing! So just fyi this is not a fast food place. Your food is made to order so you will have to wait at least 10 minutes depending on what you're ordering. If you order wings you should call it in or order online prior to coming. However it's a great place to take your friends & have a drink bcuz they sell beer & soju & food is worth the wait. We also had the Frisco melt & joint tacos & it was awesome as usual. I love their fries!

Decided to come check this out since I was in the area. There are plenty of tables on the inside but their AC wasn't working. They DID have these high powered fans running but it was still hot in this 90 degree weather. Cashier was friendly and attentive. Checked in w/ us halfway through our meal. Ordered the Joint Tacos and Joint fries. The fries were decent. I was expecting a little bit more for the portion size from all the pictures I've seen online. It seemed smaller than the previous. The flavor was good but a little too sweet and salty. The tacos had the same flavor, however whatever cut they used on the meat made it very chewy. I doubt I'd give this place another try, especially with so many other choices in the area. Maybe I just tried the wrong things. But it's in a good area right outside the theater.
I absolutely love this place. I'm from Huntington Beach, and I drive here to get the joint Burrito and joint fries. The joint Burrito is HUGE! It's filled with rice, bulgolgi, and kitchen, and they also put a spice sauce inside, which is BOMB. I split this with my wife, and we are both pretty satisfied. Super good. We also got joint fries to share, and it was delicious! The portion on this was surprisingly small. It could have used more fries and more bulgolgi but definitely very tasty and recommended. We also got a beef bowl for the kids. I didn't try it cause I was so full, but it looked great! My kids loved it. The service was outstanding, and the lady was very helpful with taking my order and explaining things to me. I told her I had little ones and they are very picky eaters, so she put everything for the bowl on the side. That was very nice. The little ones loved the beef. Anyways, if you're in this area, definitely try this place. Best bulgolgi Burrito!!
i would give this place a 4.5-5 stars! the staff is super friendly and helpful. we got the onion rings, joint fries, and beef bowl. onion rings - really crispy! my niece loved it and it's not too much batter compared to the onions. joint fries - flavorful; bulgogi, cheese, with a hint of minced kimchi and green onions. it was the perfect shareable amount. the balance between the bulgogi and fries were good. beef bowl- bulgogi with rice and salad. the salad was more spinach with some croutons. the bulgogi was really flavorful and rice was decent. this makes you full! the only thing was that the music was super loud so i had to talk in the other person's ears. the joint fries were delicious, just a bit too saucy that made it soggy quick. i wanted more crispier fries with some sauce, perhaps sauce on the side(?)
I hope this place never leaves the The Lakes plaza... it's one of the staples keeping it alive and for many it's an engrained part of growing up in the area. Going for a movie then out to eat here... to the mall, after school, etc. They have been doing fusion since before fusion was a thing! My favorites are the Joint Fries, Carne Asada Fries, and Joint Fried Rice. Service is always fast and honestly I don't mind the rising prices... you gotta do what you gotta do to stay in business!

If you want crispy, perfectly cooked wings, look no further. Plump, juicy.. They must brine them overnight. If you live in West Covina, perfect! I come from Burbank to get their sweet chili wings. I have tried their lemon pepper and garlic soy, which were also very good. If only we had one closer, I'd probably order weekly. I've had leftovers and after 4 minutes in the air fryer, the wings were still crispy, even with all the sauce lathered on overnight. My last visit was one Sunday in October. I met a friend here to watch football games. It was a good halfway point being I am coming from Burbank and he from Fontana. It was slow enough that we didn't feel pressured to leave because we stopped ordering food and only had drinks the last few hours we were there. We stayed a total of 4 hours. Throughout that time, the staff was only one person, Bobby. He said he was the General Manager of the place. He came out a few times to see how we were doing when he wasn't making orders, which was only a few times. Seems he had a stream of to-go orders and tended to about another 4 tables that came in while we were there. Hard working guy, he ran it all by himself! Taking orders, cooking, answering phones, and the cleanup that goes with it. I was impressed because I got my order in the middle of all that and my wings were nothing short of perfect. read more

I haven't been here in ages, probably since middle school, so this place has really been here for a long time! My friends and I decided to come here for lunch and they open at 12pm. We actually came in right at 12pm and thought this restaurant was closed, but they just weren't set up yet haha. The interior does feel a bit old and dim, and really hasn't changed since the last time I visited. For the 3 of us, we ordered joint fries and a joint burrito to share. It did take some time for the order to arrive, but we were just catching up since we haven't seen each other for a long while! Once we got our order, we were surprised how big the burrito was lol. We split the burrito in 3 and it was very quite filling. We also didn't even finish our fries. The joint fries was basically like the joint burrito, so everything was quite flavorful. Pretty solid place, but you will feel very heavy after eating! Service was very kind as well. read more

Not sure if they are permanently closed, I am hoping that they're not since this was one of my go to craving spots! Went 2 weeks ago and they said they were all out of bulgogi. And then 2 days after that, during lunch they were closed. Called several times before going but there was no answer, was a bit bummed because if they are closing, I wish they would have mentioned they were closing when they told me they were out of bulgogi. I just went to check again on Tuesday June 20th and Thursday June 22nd and they still weren't open along with no sign on the door. I really do hope not but from these past 3 weeks it doesn't look like they will be opening again.:( read more

Great casual spot to grab food and drinks. You order and pay at the counter, and they bring the food out to your table. I recently visited with my friend and we split the joint fries and joint fried rice. The portion size of the joint fries was smaller than expected (and smaller than it looks in pictures), but we still enjoyed the dishes. We liked the taste of both the fries and fried rice - flavorful but not too overwhelming. We didn't get any drinks during this visit but I definitely want to come back as the drinks seem very reasonably priced! read more

So glad my sister took me here. Amazing food...full of flavor and portions were big enough to share. I'd suggest ordering a few things amongst your group so you can all try a bit of everything. Very casual setting, you order with the cashier first and then grab a table. There's indoor and outdoor seating available. They bring the food to you and any other condiments/utensils you may need. Alcoholic beverages are served here too like beer and soju. Our party of three ordered the following: -Joint Fried Rice -Joint Fries -Spicy Calamari -Curry Katsu Chicken Bowl (more of a plate presentation). Rice was a bit mushy but I didn't mind. Just wanted to put that out there for those who do care about rice texture. We really enjoyed everything we ordered. The menu is pretty extensive so you're bound to find something that suits your tastebuds. I loved how they used skinny fries. I'm still thinking about the melted cheese and bulgogi on those fries! Bomb . com!!! Also, I would totally get the curry chicken katsu again...perfect comfort food on a chilly night! read more

Covid 19 Review - Went for dinner and it was completely empty. Grabbed a table outside and took a look at the menus. FYI - you have to order inside at the cashier - Ordered the good and and drinks - a beer on tap, but they didnt have it on tap and didnt say anything til the bill was paid and tried to sneak a bottle to us. If you're not into spicy foods - this place isn't for you (or me). It was so spicy for me that I really couldn't finish my fried rice. It would be better if they offered non spicy versions or levels of spice. Would not be visiting again - unless I build a tolerance to spicy foods read more
I was really excited to try this place because it looked similar to Cha Cha Chili (RIP) which is a place I used to frequent in Alhambra and sadly went under. Anyway, my experience was not what I'd anticipated- the service was friendly but the AC was not working and it was a million degrees inside with industrial sized fans blowing wind all over the place. I felt bad for the employees who had to endure the uncomfortable working conditions. On top of that, though my burrito tasted good, the inside of it looked horrendous- literally looked like differing sizes of the same colored brown chunks and pieces with sauce poured into with sprinkles of green (green onions?). Use your imagination- what does my description sound like? Will I be eating here again? Not likely. read more

Came here with a group that recommended that they wanted to try this place. It's been quite a few years since my last review. Surprised that this place is still around! Didn't notice that we had been here years ago until I pressed to write a review. So this would be an "updated" review. Ordered to go with our group. We waited for OVER AN HOUR for the food. There was only one person in front of us, and we only ordered these 5 items (not including the 4 thai tea drinks which came out 15-20 min) We tried the following items: Frisco Melt Burger (burgers come with a side of fries) we asked for no salt and the fries we got had salt on them even though the box says no salt. It was downhill from here. They also look like they put a few pieces in the box and was not full, basically looked like someone ate some...fries were not crispy and soggy. It was super overcooked to the point where it was super well done and super dry. The only thing that was good was the bacon, it was surprisingly crispy. The burger was mediocre. In comparison the salmon burger to go box, it was uneven. It looked like a full set of fries as a side too so they def got more fries??? Ridiculous. Curry fries - literally fries with curry poured over it. The curry wasn't even hot, it was lukewarm. Carne Asada Fries - tried it immediately right when we got the order. The fries weren't crispy and the carne asada tasted like it was reheated, quality of the meat wasn't that great, it was also unevenly seasoned/slightly salty. Very much like scraps thrown together. Overcooked. Cheese that is drizzled on top tastes like the gross melted canned cheese. Salmon burger - just plain dry and overcooked, not great. A set of 12 boneless wings - they were just very much crispy battered popcorn chicken like. Not much chicken but mostly crispy batter. Surprisingly it wasn't salty. But they also weren't amazing tasting either. Thai tea - too sweet and milky. 80% of the cup is basically milk/half & half. They also didn't filter it well and there's black tea bit grains in it. I don't understand how terrible it was, and how nothing came out hot considering we literally waited over an hour and when the food comes out it isn't hot???? We noticed that the to go boxes are SMALLER in side and depth for the fries also in comparison to if you order a burger... They accept credit cards but there is a $3.50 "processing fee". They don't specify or tell you up front that there is a fee on top of the taxes, only a little sticker on their payment processing machine. We would not come here again, still not sure why people like this place, it's not amazing, it's not great, quality is low and mediocre...overall I would not recommend this place as it is highly overpriced and def not worth the quality/taste. read more
Called to order 2 of their Joint burritos due to the delicious yelp reviews and photos I have seen. Went to pick it up in 10-15 and it was ready. Pretty fast service, but unfortunately my order was disappointing ): The Joint Burrito ($11.95) description: Korean BBQ fried rice, kimchi, green onions, cheese, house aioli, flour tortilla. The burritos were THICC and filled with rice, but that was pretty much it. It lacked more flavor and meat/kimchi. Although there was a hint of spice. I wish there was more cheese rather than only a very thin outer layer. Also, I'm not sure what's in it but after taking a couple of bites, I would taste like hard pieces of bone in them... I think it would have been better with less rice, more meat, kimchi, and cheese. It was basically a fried rice bowl wrapped up. read more
This place has one of the best fries I've had in a long time. We ordered the joint fries and Far East burger and it was phenomenal. The Far East burger was just a bacon cheeseburger with an egg. Pretty typical burger but did not disappoint. Definitely big enough to fill you up and came with fries which was a surprising addition. The joint fries were made with bulgogi beef and kimchi with a layer of melted cheese. It had a very authentic Korean flavor fused with the cheese. It is worth a try. I will most likely come back and try their other Asian fusion fries on the menu. read more

I really wanted to love this place, especially after all of the positive things I've heard about it. However, it just fell short of expectations. To start, the tables were extremely sticky and had pieces of food on them. They were clearly not being regularly wiped down. If this is the case, I'd rather not dine in next time. We ordered a bottle of mango soju, which is always delicious, but some of the shot glasses they gave us were dirty, so we had to ask for clean ones. As for the food, they were ok. Portions turned out to be less than they looked in their pictures. Beef Bowl: The beef had a good flavor and I liked the spring mix with house aioli. Would have been better if the rice wasn't cold. (sadly didn't finish this because a bug flew onto the beef when we were half way through this dish) Joint Fried Rice: I liked the small kick of spiciness in this and the fried egg on top. It was mostly kimchi flavor. Would have been better if there was more beef. Joint Burrito: Best item that we got. The burrito was large and very packed. Flavors were also on point. Would reccomend. Joint Tacos: Least favorite item that we got. The tacos were so small for its price point. Not a fan of the tortillas they used, but the beef and sauce were good. Joint Fries: Just like the other items, the beef was good. Would have been better if the fries weren't cold and flimsy. Spicy Tuna Fries: Nice big scoop of spicy tuna. It was yummy. Again, would have been better if the fries were not cold. Since the pandemic, cleaning and sanitation procedures have become more important than before. Unfortunately this place did not appear very clean. Both indoor and outdoor dining are available. If you are dining in, you still have to order at the register first. Might come back only to try the wings if I'm in the area. read more
My first time trying Far East Joint and this place does not disappoint! SERVICE: 5/5 They were friendly and nice. The food took longer to prepare, but they notified us that they were short staffed which was understandable. I liked how they told us instead of leaving us wondering why it was taking a while. FOOD: 5/5 All the food that I ordered from the menu was AMAZING! I got the Joint tacos, Joint burger, and Hot Cheetos fries. Both the Joint tacos and burger had bulgogi inside which made the perfect amount of sweetness and savory taste. It was also juicy. The Hot Cheetos fries bought back nostalgia from my childhood when I would add melted cheese to my Hot Cheetos, but this dish was even better because it included fries, my guilty pleasure food. My taste buds and tummy had no regrets after this meal! SANITATION: 4/5 They provided hand sanitizers and looked pretty clean inside. Only marking a point off because some of the tables outside were a bit dirty. PARKING: 5/5 There is a lot of parking around the plaza and I was able to easily find a spot on a weekday night. I check in here very frequently because my dear cousin was obsessed with the Joint Fries. I love the fusion dishes here no wonder it's always poppin!!!!! Oh. My. God. Pictures don't do any justice. Everything tastes amazing from the first bite. Service is great, food AMAZING. I love this place and will def come again very soon. Far East Joint isn't as good as I recall it to be. This used to be one of my highly rated restaurants in West Covina. Great fusion food that is greasy, but tasty and comforting. It's always been a bit pricey, but it's worth it. Now in 2022, though, things have changed. I don't know if it's because Korean fried chicken really took off in the past few years, and now I have a whole new standard or palate for Korean-inspired or Korean-adjacent food, but FEJ just ain't hitting the spot like it used to. And the relatively high price tags now just seem much less appealing. Most recently, we got some wings, some tacos, a rice bowl, and a drink. And all together, it was $40 plus a bit. Both the portion and the quality did not reach a satisfactory level for $40 something spent. Flavors were there. But just not jumping out at me anymore. The tacos and the rice bowl were both sufficient. Adequate. I don't think I disliked them. I can only describe them as fine. The wings, however, were dry and the garlic soy flavor were nowhere near the leagues of Bon Chon or any other major Korean fried chicken available on the market nowadays. And this really hurts. Gotta up the game, chefs! These used to be my go-tos. And they will no longer be. Service continues to be lovely. The extra fee for using credit card to pay continues to be irking. I guess, just remember this place as cash only if you can. (But ofc, I never do.) Will return from time to time. (And maybe next time, I'll focus on trying the fries, the burgers, and the sandwiches, so I can broaden my selections here a bit.) read more

I can't give us place a 1 star because the food is so good it's worth trying to go to. Full of flavor! Don't try calling to place an order if youre trying to save yourself time waiting 30-40+ minutes for your food, which is about how long it takes. I got put on hold and they didn't actually put me on hold, so I heard everything happening. 5 mins worth of orders and then nearly 13 more mins of nothing. I'm pretty sure I got ignored, I refuse to say I was forgetting about. Completely disrespectful and unacceptable Please hire more people to help them. Food was very delicious. Ordered: Chicken quesadilla Joint tacos Asada tacos Asada fries The quesadilla was extra cheesy and full of flavor. Friend had joint tacos and she said it was good. Daughter had the asada tacos. She liked them too (she orders them plain) The asada fries were great. Lots of cheese. Only downside is it's a bit on the pricey side. $11 for 3 little tacos. read more

The lemon pepper wings are so good! I can taste the lemon juice! when life give you lemons , eat some lemon pepper wings. The joint fries are not bad too. It was really favorable. read more
