3/25/21 May 31 1994…read moreLet Me See That Tootsie Roll...good lord, I did not see that coming, nor do I care to hear that song again by The 69 Boys...I know, they were a head in each direction, but so what. In 1982, a naked boy walks around asking animal how many licks does it take to get to the center roll of a tootsie pop. Most people and animals have a tendency to bite down, and in this case, the wisest creature in this ad is the owl. He couldn't make it past 2 before biting. I saw there was Study done with different people and still the numbers are up and down on the number of licks. Guess the world will never know. I myself remember eating these Tootie Blow Pops for a while, but I got confused one day which candy I was sucking on. I wanted the lollipop with the gum in the center and picked the Tootsie Roll Lollipop instead. From that point one, it was Charm Blow Pops for me.  I never liked the taste of a Tootsie Roll candy myself.  Maybe because I did not care for the chocolate taste. I recall these candies were generally the last candies to be eaten or thrown into the trash after my Halloween candy was consumed.  Its is a little humorous that at one point in time, these two companies were at war, and now they are together under one roof. It's kinda like  how Coke could have owned Pepsi at one point during the Cola Wars, but they failed and Tootsie Roll didn't.  The world my still not have an answer to the undying question Tootsie Roll asked, but the licks just keep on coming.

Last time I ordered, I ordered 2 Turtle and 1 Chocolate drizzle, Creamy Dill Pickle and a 1 gallon of Cheese. When my order arrived, I had several concerns besides the delay in receiving my popcorn. It took about 10 days to get it, shipping from Chicago to Milwaukee. First, instead of 2 turtle, & 1 Choc. Drizzle, there were 3 Turtle. Second, the bags of the chocolate popcorns had Chocolate fingerprints on the outside of the bag and 1 bag had a slit on the back of the bag. Third, the 'gallon' of Cheese was only 3/4 full. I called to inform them of the error in the order, getting a gallon container only 3/4 full and that the packaging had Chocolate fingerprints all over the bags. Made me wonder if anyone even wore gloves...you could see lines of the ridges of a fingerprint! The response was cold, defensive and rude from the guy who answered the phone. I was told they would have to call me back and hung up before I could confirm which number to call back. I did receive a call back and was told by the woman that she packed the bags herself, she just 'mislabeled' one of the bags but if I would send her a picture of them, she would be able to identify which one was the Chocolate Drizzle. I sent a pic (as shown below), her response was "I will send you a new bag of Chocolate Drizzle". I also mentioned the bags having chocolate fingerprints on the back of the bag & 1 bag slit, she basically ignored that and didn't respond to that information. Her response to the 1 gallon container being only 3/4 full was that "things tend to settle in shipping". Overall, I was unimpressed with the owners response to my multiple concerns. This was very disappointing as I really love their popcorn, will miss it but I will find another place to purchase from. They definitely don't deserve my money or business.

My only problem however was the amount of costumes you can try on. I was only allowed to try on 4 costumes TOTAL. Not 4 at a time but literally 4 costumes TOTAL. I had asked the girl right outside of the fitting room if I can go back and get more costumes before I even had any clue that I could only try on 4 and she replied it doesn't matter but only 2 are going through that door at a time. After trying my costumes on I went back to look for more and came back with another one. She looked at me and said "didn't you already try on 4?." Me, confused, replied yes and she said no you're only allowed to try on 4 total. At this point I was pretty annoyed that I could not try on another costume. I walked away then and asked another associate whether I was allowed to return. If I wasn't allowed to try it on in store I figured I could try it on at home instead. Ofcourse the answer was no. This associate tried to be nice and ask her manager if she could make an exception for one more costume and the answer was no there either. I'm unsure how I'm supposed to purchase a costume then because I wasn't going to take it home and be stuck with something I didn't like and couldn't return. Needless to say I left the store empty handed. I won't return next year I suggest Halloween City instead. This place was also pretty pricey.

I've used Chicago Moonwalks multiple times over the years--both in my current role and in a…read moreprevious organization--and have always had positive experiences. That's what made this most recent situation so disappointing. For a large-scale community event, Lights! Camera! Purim, which draws over 600 attendees and charges admission, we booked two major attractions: a mechanical inflatable and their massive funhouse maze. These weren't add-ons--they were central to the event's design, marketing, and execution. The maze alone involved live actors, scripted tour guides, coordinated timing, and trained volunteers. It was a significant production. Per their process, we expected confirmation communication ahead of the event and a check-in call within 24 hours prior. While I did receive an initial confirmation email, I never received the day-before call. Given my past positive experiences, I didn't think much of it. The morning of the event told a different story. By 7:00 AM (two hours before doors), I had received no communication. I began reaching out--calls, voicemail, text, and email--without any response. At 8:45 AM, just 15 minutes before doors opened, I finally received a call informing me that their truck wouldn't start and they would not be coming. There was no proactive outreach, no contingency plan, and no apology. We had no choice but to pivot in real time and rework the event experience on the fly. While the event still moved forward, it created unnecessary stress, confusion, and reputational risk for our organization. When you're running a paid, large-scale event with hundreds of attendees, reliability isn't optional--it's foundational. I followed up the next day through their feedback system. I was told someone would be in touch. That follow-up never came--no apology, no acknowledgment, no attempt to make the situation right. This wasn't just a logistical miss--it was a breakdown in communication, professionalism, and accountability at every level that mattered. Given how critical these rentals were to the success of our event, this experience was deeply disappointing. I would strongly caution anyone planning a high-stakes event to have backup plans in place if relying on this vendor.
