Wheaton's Popcorn Shop has fresh-popped popcorn, Graham's Chocolate has homemade chocolate (and a soda fountain), and candy shops in Naperville offer ice cream and cotton candy. Glen Ellyn Sweet Shoppe is just candy. Now, that doesn't stop them from executing well on their offering: the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting, not to mention the fact that all customers under the age of 7 roll out of there with huge, ear-to-ear grins on their faces. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is if customers are allowed to peruse past the middle of the store... the cashier is setup right smack in the middle and feels like a gatekeeper over the rest of the floor, blocking easy passage to the chocolate in the back. If you're in the area then the Shoppe is worth a stop. But if you're looking for something a little more then this may not be the stop that fits the bill for you.

I even drove to the Algonquin location 10+ years ago and it didn't last long there. This is the only IL location left. Nevertheless, I will make the drive every once in a while to Downer's Grove just for See's. I've never been disappointed in any of the chocolates, and they are always fresh. The associates are always very kind and typically offer a free sample. Some of the milk chocolates can be on the sweet side, so I really like the dark chocolate options. The caramel varieties are very good - the butterchews are good and I especially like the scotchmallow, which is caramel and marshmallow. One of my all-time favorites is the butterscotch square. It's a very sweet brown sugar and vanilla forward soft center. It's reminiscent of cookie dough before you mix in the flour.. so ultra sweet and sugary, but in the best way. Some of my other top favorites are the rum nougat, beverly, mayfair, maple walnut, vanilla nut cream - basically any of the creams or nougats. I haven't tasted one that I didn't like. The lollipops are also delicious - as a coffee lover, I love the cafe latte flavor, and the chocolate ones are also deliciously rich for a hard candy. All of the flavors are good so the assortment is really nice too. If you like fudgy with almonds, the almond royals are a delicious chewy treat. I also love the peanut brittle bars. They are crispy, sweet, buttery, rich and oh so good. They are quite expensive, but for a once in a while treat, it is worth it. Any of their products make for a very nice gift for someone. These stations are known for being lame so I of course was skeptical. Has hard to get to hours. They're only open in the mornings on weekdays. I got a whole bean coffee. It's $2.50 for a regular. This is Metropolitan Coffee which is perfectly okay and even better with some of the raw sugar. I also picked up a Blueberry Pastry to bring back. It's about $2 or so. The pastries are apparently made onsite and my lady thought it was quite tasty. Forget about it being in a train station and try it. It's much better than you think. This is good on a train heading to wherever.

I didn't see eggplant parmesan on the menu, but they told me if I ask for it (advance notice would be helpful) they'll make it. Entrees are served hot. The manicotti and lasagna are delicious; the manicotti is not a big pan but a take-out container with two manicotti rolls; will feed one hungry person but wouldn't be enough for two people.
