I was down in Orange Park for a monthly training and my oil change was due. Given that there's a few oil change places within a few blocks, I just pulled into Famous. I can't remember the last time that I've been to this franchise, as I usually go to Take 5, but I'll definitely never go back to this spot. The first alarm bell was that they made me get out of my car. I just want to get in and get out. There should be no need for me to get out of my car for a quick oil change. The second alarm bell was that the few men on staff were swearing up and down that I had been in to their shop recently (I had not) and that they had recently had a car "just like that." It wasn't just one or two comments, but went on for a few minutes and creeped me out. The third alarm bell was that after I filled out my information in the iPad provided and asked if my Veteran/Military discount was included, I was told that it should all transfer from my current profile. I didn't have a current profile. I haven't been to a Famous in many, many years. As I was waiting in their office waiting area, one of the guys came in to walk me out to my car and, basically, up charge me on stuff. I commute to St Augustine every day for work, so I'm staying on top of my oil changes and fluids. However, I'm fairly certain that my coolant needed to be topped off, so I let them do it. That said, I was told that my Veterans discount would "transfer over" and it wasn't included and that they were going to put the current oil that I was using in my car, which was non-synthetic, and they put in synthetic thinking that I wouldn't notice. When my bill popped up to be nearly $200, I looked at it and said that I don't put synthetic oil in this car and that kind of oil should not have been used. The guy at the desk took it down to a regularly priced oil change, but not without making comments in a smarmy tone like "the customer is always right" and generally making me feel like he got caught trying to upcharge me. In response to Alex's recommendations, we chose what was required. He was easy to deal with, accommodating, and friendly. not being intrusive. When needed we shall return. They wrecked my car, backed it straight into their building, jacked my driver side door, then refused to give me the name and acct number for their insurance company, had to call the police. I suspect they were hoping I would not notice after paying my bill. The door will not open or close, yeah I noticed....Then asked me to get 3 estimates even though they knew I was moving on 8/1 and the estimates are only good for 30 days in town, and they chose the lowest one. Bet they thought I was gonna just go away. Nope I am now feeling much better since my mother's death on June 2nd, they wrecked my car on July 17th. I would not let these folks touch my lawnmower let alone my car. read more

They will Screw you! They broke my oil pan they unscrewed the square the plug was in than replaced it with a piggy back plug that just pops out. The owner (Chris) did nothing! I leaked oil in two of my customers driveways and lost those two customers than went there the next day after I realized it was leaking everywhere. This is a new oil change spot that opened up on US17 two months ago (March 2016.) Standard oil changes are $19.99 for up to 5 quarts of oil. Wednesdays are Ladies' Days, so the standard oil changes are $17.99 for up to 5 quarts. And they use Castrol Oil. The two gentlemen that helped me, Jerry(?) and Shawn, were very nice and friendly. (Jerry was funny.) I'm sure it's part of their job to upsell, and they did a good job with it, since I also got an Oil System Cleaner service and a Power Steering service since I was 3,000 miles overdue on the oil change and I had never had my power steering system serviced since I bought my car. (I had only planned on a straight up oil change.) Service was very quick--I was in and out in less than 30 mins (I usually will be waiting at the dealership for close to 2 hours.) My car drove very smoothly when I got it back, so I think their recommendation for the oil system cleaner did actually do something for the car. The damage for the 3 services was just under $100 (with the power steering service being the most expensive) but it was money well spent since my baby drives like it's brand new again. ;) 4 stars for their customer service, speed of service, and quality of work. Price for a standard oil change is pretty darn good too compared to a dealership. I will be returning for future oil changes and basic servicing. read more

Great and fast service. Made the trip from Julington Creek just to have my new vehicle serviced here. Upon pulling in was immediately greeted with a handshake and welcome. Horrible horrible experience, I used to walked passed this place all the time and now that I have a car I thought that since the oil is cheap why not give it a shot. Upon arriving I was greeted by a young guy probably the same age as me, loud and overbearing, who instantly started to tell me what I needed for my car and why I needed but I went along with it I didn't think he would put it in my car and charge me for it, because all I wanted was a fucking oil change. I'm not used to cars or going to places to get your car oil changed and what not, but this person insisted that I had a billion bucks to pay for everything, just charging me for stuff I didn't ask for, and then proceeded to tell me that I wanted it. Sadly enough he charged me a full amount, didn't even tell me my total or nothing just kept talking, just about what he did, when I discovered my total was a high amount I immediately knew he was over charging me and ripping me off, not once did he ask me if I really needed it just stated the facts and insisted that he put the stuff in my car to help me out which is fine, but I didn't ask his dumbass to charge me for it, all I wanted was a fucking oil change! He said oh your a "grown man" as if your my fucking father! Had the never to be vile towards me and my mom arguing with me and her. I will never ever step foot in that facility again! On June 16th I took my Tundra to have a full synthetic oil change as they are close enough for me to walk or bike home while services are performed. Since I have had a knocking in my engine, a friend who is a mechanic told me it was a water pump likely, I made arrangements to replace the water pump and a couple tires at a local tire kingdom who in a matter of 30 minutes informed me there was a extremely scarce amount of oil in the engine and I likely had a blown head gasket. I promptly picked up the oil change receipt which was done four and a half months prior, the the oil change and 10,000 miles a full synthetic oil change is listed for for my truck. I calmly approached the Famous Quick lube on Blanding blvd. Explained the situation only to be met with accusations that Tire kingdom are crooks and I'd get your vehicle out of there asap. Myself, my father and mother have all had exemplary service from this Tire Kingdom. When I challenged they're portrayal of a reliable shop they shut down be came verbally abusive, in lieu of me remaing calm and receptive to a reasonable explanation which was never offered, avoid this place at all costs. This is not over, as i offered to show them my drive way and garage to show there is no oil leak, again I was met with rudeness and I'll informed young know it all incompetent employees, I've been in automotive service for nearly 30 years. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED! So sorry I gave them a try. In the long run, their negligence has caused me more of a hassle to fix and cost way more money than a simple oil change should. I am extremely dissatisfied in their customer service and what they have not done to fix the problem. read more
