Pretty good barbecue! We ordered several combo platters, sampling through a variety of meats. The Spareribs and Brisket were very flavorful and satisfying - but if I had to nitpick, the 'cue could've been just a bit more tender - the texture was just a shade off of the true "gold standard" sort of barbecue that I've had in the past. I HOPE CORPORATE GETS WIND OF THIS REVIEW!!! This is the Long Beach on Pine establishment to be clear. I would like to give this place a negative starts. To say service is very poor would be understatement. Arrived on Saturday and sat at open seating in the bar area at a table. After waiting over 30 minutes (and just observing the lady that was working the section socializing with guest like she could care less about helping take my order). So after waiting and watching the two lady bar servers continue to have extended conversations and pretty much ignoring myself and my guest...I walked to the bar and asked the bartender if anyone was taking orders in the open seating indoor area that we were sitting at. The bartender told me that the ladies working the section had to help wash dishes and basically unable to take myself and my guest orders. We ended up walking out and went to a neighboring restaurant along the waterfront strip. How hard would have it had been to take a couple of orders or at the very least say "Hello" or "Give us a minute we are a little busy". Don't keep talking to your favorite customers and continue to walk by myself and my guest without saying something. The whole vibe seemed like the moral at this establishment with this shift is very low. Teach your servers to engage with all guest instead of have social hour during their shift...at the bare minimum again, a simple "hello" or "I'll help you in a moment" This happened on Saturday 02/28/2026 from 4pm through 4:35 pm (if management wants to look at the cameras and see just how disengaged the staff was during this shift). read more

Dave's BBQ is located on Pine St at the Shoreline Village, Came here for Lunch. The bad: We were served day-old ribs; they were hard and tough to chew. Not fresh. Serving day-old ribs is not good business. They attempted to reassure us they were fresh, but it was not true. We are not a BBQ expert but we know fresh meat when we have some. The Corn Bread Cupcake was good. So was the cole slaw, the Brisket Salad was ok, the good meat was on top while the fatty meat was at the bottom. The beer was good and the service was ok. This location has always been consistent with the quality of service and bbq. Server Mario who calls himself Famous Mario should be called Super Mario. He was able to take very good care of his assigned tables, cover the bar area, and do the outside patio. This young man has fantastic work ethic. Made for an enjoyable dining experience. I came here for the first time since I had a coupon for it and figured I would give it a try. I found the food to be just ok, decent but nothing special. For the coupon price it was worth it, but I definitely wouldn't want to pay full price. But I will say our server Mario was wonderful. He really made my boyfriend and I feel welcome and taken care of. The restaurant itself has nice decor that fit the BBQ theme and it was definitely nice to sit in the AC on a hot day. Initially we were looking for Yard House but it seemed to be further down and we were hungry so we settled for this restaurant. It was a good decision because everything on the platter was so good. Absolutely the worst experience. As avid restaurant eaters, we go out 1-2 times a week regularly. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I have had anywhere in the US. We arrived at 3:30pm for our reservation. Only thing is, whoever picked up the phone on August 13 at 6:22pm and took our reservation for a 9 person birthday party decided not to actually record the reservation. No apologies from the staff, the manager didn't have anything apologetic to say either, nor did he seem to care that he was bothered with his staff's incompetence. We weren't seated until after 4pm. When we were seated, it took over 20 minutes to be greeted and to put in our drink order. It took another 20+ minutes to track down the waiter and put in our food order. When we asked why our drinks had not come to the table yet, the waiter told us he was the only server on staff that day. However, there was a manager on site that didn't do anything helpful until it came time to deliver the food to the table, at which time he delivered one of the plates. When the food came out, some people had to send it back because it was- shocker- cold. Did they remake the cold items? No. They put them in the microwave. It was an absolutely terrible experience. Advertisement's on TV are great to get you in the door, but they surprise you with reality once you are seated in the restaurant. It has been many years since we have ever eaten at a famous Dave's, but currently they are running TV spots on a promotion for unlimited chicken wings and ribs. But what we found out is the ad should say Ribs and unlimited chicken wings. It was a great deal overall, so still no complaints. We went during lunch and we received excellent service. I was so excited they reopened Dave's in Long Beach, about 15 yrs ago this was my go to spot on Wednesday nights for their rib tip specials at the bar. When it changed to a different brand the food decline was awful. So seeing the Dave's sign gave me hope again. But alas this Dave's didn't hit the mark of Dave's of the past! Now could it be I went during their last hour open the day before Mother's Day, maybe but to have over seven of my rib tip platter hard inedible tips that I can't chew is a chef (Q'er) that doesn't care or they knew they were serving unpalatable quality food. Either way I am not even sure I'd go back to give them a second chance after Mother's Day weekend. I only took a picture of the inedible portion of my meal which was about half of the meat. The corn bears muffin was tasty the fries I have always enjoyed and I tested the coleslaw which was surprisingly good. But since they specialize in ribs they are supposed to be the focal point , so please FOCUS on the rib. They should have to be flawless. I will go to a rib joint and accept bad sides or other meat but I can't fathom paying for bad ribs cause they have say good Mac n cheese or beans. Okay, listen... we're not tourists. We're locals. We live here. And this place was dead -- like, dead dead. We walked into the bar and the bartender couldn't have been ruder. He just said "open seating" with an attitude and looked irritated that we even walked in. We moved to the dining room, which was just as empty. Jorge was our server, and unfortunately, his service wasn't any better. We've eaten here before. We're not new, and we know what the food is supposed to taste like. The mac n' cheese was mushy and missing both the jalapeños and the corn. Jorge tried to explain it away like we wouldn't recognize those ingredients. He did attempt to make it right by bringing out two sides -- after we had already asked for a box -- but by that point it was too late. And honestly, when a guest is visibly unhappy, bringing more food doesn't exactly build confidence. Overall: Boooo. Only bright spot of the night? After my previous review on Yelp, Famous Dave's sent me an email with a $15 credit to get me to try them again. Unfortunately I wasted my time by going back and giving them another shot. We were there for lunch around 1:30 pm and there was absolutely no customers in the bar or restaurant areas (which should have been a sign!). The bartender did greet us right away this time (probably because we were the only people in the place). We sat at the bar, ordered a vodka/soda/lime and some food. The bartender brought over literally a glass with just vodka, soda and a lime. No ice.... I looked at him with confusion and he then said "oh, those come with ice don't they?...I'll remake it for you." What kind of bartender doesn't put ice with vodka, soda and lime? It's pretty basic.... Then our food came out. Asked the server for plates so we could share and also utensils. It took them 15 minutes to get us plates and forks - keep in mind, there isn't anyone else in the entire place! After eating, I showed the bartender the $15 credit from the email which says "show this screen to staff" and he was completely confused and perplexed. He said he wanted to take a picture of it from my phone to go show his manager. About 30 minutes later, the "manager" came out and wanted to know where I got it from, never saw anything like it before and he didn't know anything about this code. So then he went and got the "general manager" who came out, messed around at the register and then explained that she had never seen such a code either and where did I get it. I proceeded to show her the same email, picture of the code and she eventually with derogatory attitude said "ok, I'll give this to you this time" - like she was doing us some sort of favor and totally put out for having to do this. Instead of being friendly because we obviously had an issue the last time, we got a bad attitude instead from the manager and general manager. How can they not know about this email and credit from Famous Dave's, how to apply it or simply be nice since they are the one's who don't understand? Someone from corporate really needs to do a surprise or secret shopper visit there and see what's happening at this location. All of these issues could be easily solved from having even semi-competent management. It's a shame because this restaurant has an awesome location right by the water in the marina (Shoreline Village area), lot's of tourists and foot traffic, and so much potential. read more

Came here on night one of a work conference trip and it was ok. Had the bbq pulled chicken sandwich, the chicken was dry and it over dressed with bbq sauce. Wanted to try this restaurant for a while and my experience was okay. Went on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm waiting time was about 25mins for a table. They have lots of tvs playing sports and music in the background. The restaurant didn't look pack but the time between the waiter passing by was long. Once we were seated it took 10 mins before the server finally came to get us drinks and by that time we were already ready to place our order as well. I got a strawberry margarita and a Dr Pepper, the drinks took just as long to come out, but they were good. As far as the food I order from the lunch menu which came with choice of 3 meats and a side (ribs, brisket, chicken wings, & mac and cheese). The food was good, I enjoyed the different barbecue flavors, I thought the Mac and cheese was strange because it has corn in it and it tasted just like the corn bread they serve with your meal. I came for lunch on a weekday and it was practically empty, so no wait! I got their Burnt Ends and 6 St Louis Style Ribs with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Mac n Cheese. Their Burnt Ends aren't really burnt ends as much as they are chopped up pieces of brisket smothered in their zesty sauce. I was really missing out on any burnt or charred flavors. The burnt ends are served with onion strings and pickled red onions, which may have been my favorite part of the whole meal. The St Louis Style Ribs were fine. They were not tough, but they were also definitely not tender. All of their ribs come with the Rich & Sassy flavor, so they leave their other spicier sauces on the table for you. I love their Devil's Spit sauce. I have a bottle at home. Their Wilbur's Revenge is also no joke. It is spicy but addictive! The mashed potatoes are made with red potatoes and they leave the skin on, which I grew up with so I loved. They also did mention that their mac n cheese was spicy because it contains jalapeno flavors, but I didn't think it was spicy at all, and could still be a palate cleanser for those who can't eat spicy food. Famous Dave's is one of the chain restaurants located on The Pike next to the Aquarium, so it is definitely catered more for tourists.
