We had used Family First for our moves 18 years ago and were highly satisfied with their service. We used them in October 2021 and were so dissatisfied with their service. We moved from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment. Most of our stuff was put into storage. The move was supposed to take 1 day, but their second truck broke down and move took 2 days. A table my father had made was broken during the move as well as my son's bed. Everything is packed so tight in the storage units that we can't find the boxes and items that were supposed to go to the apartment. There were boxes that were supposed to go into storage that were in the apartment so nothing was really followed and just done quickly and carelessly. The final price was FOUR TIMES the original estimate we were given, proably because the move had to be done over 2 days. There was no real price break or apologies for the move taking so long. We will never use Family First again and do not recommend them. read more

Absolutely terrible experience! I DO NOT recommend this company! Damaged and destroyed furniture, no consideration to make any resolution to the issues. All they tell you is "you signed the contract". Carrying loaded furniture upside down - after we asked if they wanted them emptied or drawers removed. We were told that would not be necessary. This severely damaged an office desk and destroyed an entertainment center. I am not a professional mover and even I would not move anything loaded and upside down or on its side. "You signed the contract" is all they keep repeating. That they are not responsible for damage to these pieces. That is not customer service or consideration. They promote themselves as a Christian company. That "family comes first". That they treat their customers by The Golden Rule. Not even close to reality in my experience. I spoke with the lead on the crew. No attempt to help. I then spoke with who I believe is the "manager". Again, wasting my breath with her. I requested to speak with the owner and was told it would be a waste of time that they would not do anything either. Not at all satisfied with this company. read more

We used Family First Movers because they advertise as a Christian organization, and we always try to support fellow Christians. I've read reviews that the movers were timely and efficient, but they were anything but. They moved very slowly and seemed to be only concerned about themselves and getting in their hours. Their website states they do not hire smokers, but one of our movers took several smoking breaks. Their site also says they are courteous and professional. The driver was rude. The movers were not very professional, stating they work hard for their tips. We called the office to ask if we could make a stop at a storage unit, which was on the way. They said no problem, but when we got to the storage unit one of the movers said there would be a $50 surcharge for an additional stop. When they opened the back of the truck the whole load shifted and everything fell over. I was so disgusted but they just shook it off and said that stuff happens. After that they said they needed Gatorade, so I took them out of the way, which took an extra 45 minutes, at my expense. I have moved 20 times, residential and business, in my lifetime, and this was THE WORST experience I have ever had. I had more damaged items on this 20 mile move than when I moved to and from South Carolina. I would not recommend Family First Movers. read more

This company was the least professional, most frustrating company I've ever had to work with. They double-booked my move day, then threatened not to move me because I had too much stuff. Then they moved just furniture -- and left most of it in my front hallway. They didn't put the beds back together or even take any of the dressers upstairs. They were rude and because I was upset -- understandably, since they threatened to leave without moving me -- they said I was creating a "hostile work environment." After several heated conversations with a supervisor, they agreed to come back and move the rest of my stuff the next day. They did and were fine, but left about 30 boxes in the driveway. And then they charged me $800 more than they said they would. I would highly recommend people stay away from this company. read more

Movers showed up on time, truck broke down in our driveway after they got done loading, threw a two hour delay into our day had to pay sitter extra and couldn't get car out of the driveway to move stuff packed in it, but the movers were fantastic throughout despite truck issues. Price was fair, although more expensive than other moving companies the estimate and actual were the same. Hidden fees, but all in all would definitely use again. Our movers were really fantastic, can't say enough great things about them. Only broke one post off dresser and scratched one piece of furniture moving a whole two bedroom house, they earned their tip and the lunch we bought them! read more

Would give zero stars if possible. We received an estimate from Leo on February 12, 2018 for our household move with packing and loading scheduled for May 2 & 3, and moving on May 4, 218. Leo visited our house a 2nd time on April 17 and confirmed the move, packing, materials, etc. On Friday evening, April 27, I receive a call from Jamie, the "owner" stating they cannot do the move for the quoted price and says I have to pay $1000 more. Needless to say I have contracted with another mover. Avoid Family First movers at all cost. It will worth it to you to pay a little more to hire a reputable, reliable mover that doesn't try to extract more money out of you at the 11th hour. read more

I would actually give Family First Moving ZERO stars. I hired them to handle my move in November 2015 and based on my experience I would NOT recommend them to anyone. Based on the number of items we had, they promised us 2 trucks and 4 movers. However on the day of our move, we only had 2 movers and 1 truck for most of the day. Because of this, it took them two days instead of one to complete our move and we had to scramble to get out of our old house. In the end, the final bill was more than double the original estimate. Family First Moving did not provide us with the service they promised and charged us significantly more than their original estimate. The owner also made negative comments about our new home in front of me even though he knew our family was moving out of financial necessity due to a health crisis. This company pretends to be "Christian" and family friendly but they are absolutely not. DO NOT give them your money. When I called to express my dissatisfaction with their services, the owner made excuses, refused to take any responsibility for problems with the move and told me I was being "nasty" for complaining. read more

Called around to a few places and these guys were the cheapest so I went with them. You definitely get what you pay for and I would not recommend the business to anyone. I was moving from a location that was less than 7 min from their office or headquarters or whatever you want to call it and they got to my place at 9:30am when they said they were leaving at 9. They got to my place and told me they forgot their dollies. Didn't get back to my place until 10:10am. I have no idea what the hell took so long but it's pretty ridic considering I could drive there and back 5 or 6 times in an hour. The guys moved pretty slow, which isnt a huge complaint considering I don't want my stuff damaged, but after seeing other moving companies in action I would def say these guys were the slowest. Finally, the movers damaged my armoire and were polite enough to tell me, but then when I called the business to report my damage claim I was told the movers didn't mention it. They never ended up paying for damage either. I have no confidence in this business surviving over the long term unless they change how they conduct business. read more

This company is highly disorganized. First, you only get the answering machine when you call, and then you receive a call back in a day or two, which should have been an indication of the type of experience I'd have. After them not showing up because of a scheduling error due to internal miscommunication, I rescheduled and had two men show up without any packing supplies, ill equipped to complete the job for which they were hired. It was not their fault; it was yet another office miscommunication. I basically said thanks, but no thanks. I guess I'm not surprised that the office has not yet called back to explain and/or apologize. read more

Worst moving experience of my life. Tons of damage, terrible customer service, slow and untrained movers. Never use this company! The owner is a disrespectful and would not compensate me for any damage done. He has clearly has been sued for damages many times as he did not seem to mind when I told him he left me no choice as to go there. We will be in litigation soon for thousands of dollars in damages as well as my credit card that was charged without my permission. I believe that is fraud. I hired this company after reading several favorable reviews and being previously disappointed with the carelessness of big box movers. I was very disappointed when the crew showed up one hour later than scheduled and without any moving pads or shoe covers to protect my house. They proceeded to walk throughout the house in their wet and dirty boots from the snow outside, indicating that wearing shoes in the house is standard protocol. When I called to provide constructive feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement, I was met with defensiveness and excuses. Not even an apology was offered. Disappointing experience. Do NOT use this company, unless you want the worst service of any mover. If you want your furniture and home possessions trashed, broken and ruined, use this company. They do NOT tie anything down, although they were provided ropes and straps. They do NOT follow instructions, when they were specifically told to put a pad underneath the table, between the table and the truck floor. They overcharge you, by double, then bully you into avoiding the website and paying them cash. WHAT??? They put in the wrong numbers and then verbally abuse you on telephone when you are attempting to put in a payment. This is by far the worst company in existence. Do NOT use this company unless you do NOT want your possessions to arrive in one piece. They show up late and do an absolutely awful job of handling your furniture. Avoid, avoid, avoid this company. After your move and you arrive at your destination and find your furniture in pieces, you try to file a claim. No telephone support. They send you an email from "noreply@movinghelp.com" with a link that does not work. When you attempt to contact the manager on the telephone, he just argues with you and bullies you into paying. DO NOT use these people. They never answer their phone and they take their sweet time getting to you and moving your stuff. They took over 5 hours for maybe a 3.5 hour job. They left grease and dirt stains on my couches and broke the leg to a stand up mirror. One of the guys mentioned that he could take the leg and fix it with no problem and get it back to me, a day later I found the leg in an empty box in the garage. read more

Horrible! Avoid at all costs! Mere hours before the scheduled move, the head of the company called to inform me that they were no longer going to do the scheduled move. He fully acknowledged that he had trucks available but did not want to use them because they were not as fuel efficient. Even though the move was scheduled weeks in advance, I received this information less than 12 hours before they were scheduled to show up. I have to say that this was one of the worst experiences of my life. The day of the move was coming up and I hadn't heard from them about what time they were going to be at my house. So, the day before the move I was calling them frantically trying to get a hold of somebody with details. Finally, somebody called me at 4:30 and told me they had a problem and didn't have a truck for me. Their solution was, I could go rent my own trucks and they would provide the movers. So, I did that. I was originally promised 4 movers but only got 3. Because of the late start due to me having to get my own trucks and them only supplying three men the move went late into the evening. Once the move is over I found out the drivers had no ride home so I had to drive them. The owner showed up on the second day in his convertible Sebring, all sweaty in flip-flops and no shirt. He never said hi or any other word to me even though he knew the inconvenience I had been through. On the side of their trucks it says that they don't smoke. All my movers smoked. The movers themselves were all pretty nice guys. They do make sure you know that they want a tip but I can appreciate that since I'm in sales. When the move was over I was handed the bill and it was about twice what I had expected!! It was ridiculously expensive. He acted like he had cut me a break. They charged me overtime even though it was their fault the overtime was incurred. Actually, they acted like they did me a favor even showing up after they messed up scheduling my move. I won't go on but will say it was seriously one of the poorest showing of service I had ever seen. I would never recommend them to anybody. We were scheduled to begin at 8am. After going until roughly 1pm and still at the old house, the movers stated that another crew couldn't handle what they were moving and they had to go help them. So, they left our old house with an entire truck full of our stuff to go help the other crew, and we didn't see them for another 3 hours! After that, they sent the truck to the new house to unload and then sent the other crew to our house with an empty truck. We had no idea on the time frame for this, so my wife and I had to split up between houses and sit at each one until they showed up. The manager acted as if he was doing us a favor by not charging us for the time they were not helping us (no kidding), but then proceeded to charge us for the extra 2 guys they sent to try to make up time. By 5:45 we had somewhere to be and could not stay while these guys were still going and had to have my mother in law come over to take over. When it was all said and done this took 12hrs to move out of a 2000 sq ft house. The guys were friendly enough, but the management is downright awful and has zero respect for the customers. read more

I'm only giving them one star because I have to. In my initial inquiry with this company, I informed them that I owned a piano, and that I was moving from a second floor to a second and third floor property. I was told there was no extra charge for stairs and that the piano could be moved. On the day of the move, as the movers were loading my belongings into the truck, they informed me that they could not move my piano, and I would have to hire another company for that. Upset but stuck, I called another company who said they could move the piano the following day. I called Family First to express my displeasure and spoke with a manager. I wanted Family First to pay for the additional mover, since they initially told me that they could move the piano. The manager did not think the owner would agree to this, and eventually said that he could get a couple of strong guys who would be able to safely move my piano the next day. So I cancelled the additional mover. The following day, five men in pick up trucks (!!) arrived to move my piano, with no moving van in sight. Ultimately, they decided that they could not safely move the piano, and I called the outside mover again. That company was able to move my piano the following day, but there was an additional charge because it was on the weekend. Calls to the owner of the company went unreturned, although the manager eventually returned my call. However, his promise of a follow up phone call, with the possibility of monetary remuneration for my inconvenience went unfulfilled. This company also did not respond to a Better Business Bureau complaint. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to get the job, but at the end of the day, they don't get it done. read more
