I get random stuff that happens to be a really good buy compared to offers elsewhere. They have some quality pet supplies for great prices! They carry a brand made by AKC (American Kennel Club) that makes wonderful leashes and collars. I suppose this is a contract between AKC and BigLots because I've never seen AKC items elsewhere. I've looked over the packaging to see if it's a charity promo or something, and they don't detail anything like that. But since AKC is a nonprofit, I am sure something is going to them if the items bear their name, even if BigLots takes a cut. (I will do all I can to support AKC, because they offer free registration/monitoring for any brand of pet microchip so you never have to pay the monthly ripoff that the brand name places charge.) BigLots also has AKC rawhides in a HUGE 21" size for only $10 each at holiday time (Nov/Dec). I have been stocking up every year for the past 3 years. I buy at least 8 of those suckers to get our dogs through the year. These are more than double the price on Amazon or elsewhere for similar sizes. There are other "no name" brands here that offer decent quality at very reasonable prices. I've been buying their 6pk of paint rollers here for more years than I'd like to remember. The price has gone up from the major steal it used to be, but it's still far better than comparable quality at Lowes/Depot. I have gone through at least a hundred rollers after renovating 2 homes, refinishing loads of furniture, as well as my art projects. Another really awesome deal is their shoebox storage containers. They have a snap lid, with those flaps that come down and lock it. These have been only $1.25 forever. For a quarter more, the quality is a LOT better than the Dollar Tree ones whose lids don't have locking flaps, and don't stay on as well. BigLots will also have tech accessories for good deals. I can't vouch for the whole array of offerings, but the chargers and earbuds have worked reliably and have been cheaper than other discount places (Five Below, and randomly craft stores like ACMoore have tech accessories + offer cheap deals with their 50% off coupons). I have also gotten decent 100% cotton beach towels here, in a healthy thickness. Again, pretty random, but whoever their seasonal buyer is, I have to pay some respect. They really have some great deals to snatch up season-to-season, though you do need to get them when you see them, because they will sell out, and if they come around the next year, it will be another color or pattern, so make your set when you see it! Their cotton balls are also another random good deal. Their 100% Cotton Balls, in 300 quantity (and a nice jumbo size) are $2.50, which way beats Dollar Tree's 100 count of puny sized balls. My only gripe is that corporate is pretty stingy about coupons. BigLots rarely sends me coupons (probably because I never make it down there), and when they do, they're normally for useless stuff, or spend amounts that only apply to those shopping for furniture. Gimme a % off or a $5 off $25 some time, please! The Aston location is in a shopping center just off Five Points, simple to get to, especially if you come in the back way, around from Knowlton, through the residential neighborhood behind it. Staff is always friendly, and very helpful. Any time I have needed help they are always on the ball, and totally responsible and thorough about leading me right to what I need, or getting it from the back. Extraordinary team!

I didn't plan this mall trip, but I ended up inside the mall thinking I was getting Egg-Foo-Young from a Chinese restaurant, but instead I settled for Sabrro Pizza. I'll review them in another post. Needless to say, there was no Egg-Foo-Young, but on my way out I noticed a store that had leggins on sale. It was actually an all leggins store for woman. This particular clothing store had a faint smell of a musty basement, but that didn't bother me as much as the cashier did. She was a big haired, dark-skinned female, medium/large in her size and she spoke softly. As I made my way to the rear of the clothing store I noticed several signs that read 50% off on some racks, but the rack that caught my eye was the one that read $3.99. Of course my feet lead me straight to that rack. As I browsed the rack's attire I couldn't help but notice the young lady cashier keep her eyes on me. I picked out three items. Before I made my way to the register to ring up my items I noticed a 50% sign on a rack with some waist cinchers and other undergarments for women who need to slightly have a little more squeeze. Although, I, myself am not very big I wanted to replace my old waist cincher. There were no prices on the tags of the garments so I called the young lady over to the racks, there were two, so she could assist me. After a slight hesitation, as if she didn't have feet to come to my aid, she made her way over and proceeded to inform me that the items were indeed half price, but she needed to check the prices and then she would be able to tell me the 50% total. I was ready to depart this store at this time for two reasons, the first being the long hassle and the second was because of the smell. I decided to leave the undergarments and simply buy the two pair of leggins I wanted and the jacket I had. All three clothing items were taken off the $3.99 rack to which the cashier eyed me the entire time. When I get to the register she begins to tell me that one of the leggins cost $25.00, the jacket was to a set that cost $15 or more, yet the jacket was a small and the pants that she claimed matched the jacket were a X-tra large and the final pair of leggings were $4.99. She obviously saw me take the clothing items off the $3.99 rack and she didn't even apologize for the mixup, she didn't offer me the price and she didn't not once stop complaining about how they stuck her in the store and she didn't know why the prices were what they were. But prior to this she acted as if she knew all about pricing when she was explaining to me about the 50% off undergarments. I just figured she needed some money for some more hair spray, lunch or she wanted leggins or something and tried to scam me. That is the oldest retail scam that cashiers do. The cashier will claim that they have no idea what is wrong with the prices, they will say that they can't make the correction and if you are stupid enough to purchase the over priced item that they give you and not the sale price that you see they will take the money they charged you and spend it on pocketbooks, sunglasses, drugs, liquor and their dusty boyfriends that probably put them up to the scam. Unfortunately, I've misplaced the receipt that should have the name of the store, but if I find it I will post it.

The only thing that is perpetually negative and drives customers crazy Is the fact that they don't have enough Staff. When you go to a register you can never find anybody. When you walk the floor and find someone and ask for help you always hear "that's not my department " and they will walk away Telling you they will find someone to help you and they never do. So keeping that in mind you have to be assertive when you shop here. If you insist that they stay here and help you because you are a customer, they usually will. But you must be assertive. This is something that I've put up with for years because it's totally worth it shopping here. But its a total reduction of 1 star. - whenever they have a sale they have plenty of each item in stock. - Their items are of good and higher quality and don't break or fall apart. - Their jewelry department offers high-quality, beautiful pieces that when not on sale , are very reasonably priced. When you happen to catch a Sale in the jewelry department, which is fairly often per year- you can really walk away with a few steals and great bargains. I'm still wearing jewelry from the year 2000 that has held up. And for Valentine's Day this year I was gifted with two rings and two pair of earrings that are just so pretty. And I know he got great bargains on these pieces. - They still have a bona fide candy department with dozens and dozens of options. Their chocolate items are beyond compare because most are made by the legendary Asher candy company company.
