My first visit went well. The dentist I saw was caring and had a good bedside manner. He recommended having all my teeth extracted and an appointment was set. When my appointment rolled around, he was no longer with the practice and I saw someone else. Every time after that first visit, the office was always dirty. There was always trash and used paper towels on the counters and sometimes it was dirtier than that. I had to reschedule a couple times because my blood pressure was too high to do anything but when I was finally able to get them pulled, they were supposed to be all done at once. He decided to only do the top teeth. I believe it was because my appointment was at 5 pm and he had been talking with his assistant about being ready to go home. He was definitely in a hurry considering the way he was yanking my head around pulling my teeth. I got immediate dentures at the time of extraction. It took a couple visits to get my top teeth to fit right but it got done eventually. When it came time to pull my bottom teeth, I felt everything. I told him it hurt but he insisted that all I felt was pressure. I know the difference between pain and pressure. I forgot to bring the bottom dentures and was told to put them in when I got home. I couldn't get them in and hurried back to the office to have him put them in. They didn't go on properly but he assured me they were fine. They came out before I even got back to the house. I went back a week later to get them adjusted so I could wear them. He shaved them down a little bit before he told my gums were still swollen. I was told to come back in a week or two but I could shave them down at home with a file so they would fit. I looked up how to do that online and everything I read said to leave it to the professionals so I did. I waited two weeks to go back to make sure all the swelling was gone. He acted like I was bothering him asking to adjust them. I told them that it wouldn't go over my gums in the back on one side and the first thing he did was try to force them on which really hurt right where I told him it would. He shaved them down but not where I told him they needed to be shaved. Every time he took them back, they would return with sharp edges. I asked him to smooth those out and he would shave down the whole thing to the point that there's now hardly anything left and he once again told me I could file them down myself to make them fit. They are unwearable at this point. I will attach pictures so you can see his handywork. The extraction was done on June 11th and I still haven't been able to use my bottom dentures. That's well over a month. The last time I went in, he told me he would call me in a couple weeks to set up an appointment to have them recast if my insurance would cover it. He messed them up. He should be taking care of this. My insurance should have nothing to do with it. That me makes me believe he kept telling me to file them down myself so that he wouldn't be responsible. I believe that he should replace them at no cost to me or my insurance. I also received a letter from my insurance stating that they denied a claim from him. It was code d7321. Alveoloplasty. I looked up the code and it was for a procedure that he didn't perform. I was there. I remember. I felt everything so I know there was no scalpel, no file, no sutures, and no follow up appointment was made. My appointment was at 5 pm. I was in that chair for a total of 30 minutes including the wait for the dentist to finish up with another patient. I was able to get home, attempt to put my dentures in and get back to the office before they closed at 6. There was no time for him to do anything other than pull my teeth. That's insurance fraud which I will be reporting and putting in my review. I understand that I'm on Medicaid but I still deserve good service just like everyone else. read more

They're deleting reviews. So here's a recap. Don't go. I originally gave 5 stars because Dr. Narra seemed to care. However, 1. I have received poor quality work that I will now have to pay out of pocket to fix. 2. Dr. Narra uses women's chests as his tool tray during appointments(as others have stated) 3. They have very blurry x rays that lead Dr. Narra to tell me everything looks great. To which I then have to correct him that I have several broken teeth. His response? "Smile? -- Oh, I can't fix that here. You need to see another dentist. Call your insurance they'll know where to send you." No. They didn't because I was given no codes etc. I then have to fight with them to get a referral. 4. The referral? For a root canal on a tooth that already had one. Not for the crown I'm trying to get. 5. They ignore emails. 6. Staff is rude (not everyone). Specifically Jennifer Puffenberger will talk down to you and say she didn't get your emails, when she got them just fine earlier. 7. They delete bad reviews to up their score. Go look at Yelp for a better idea of what's going on. 8. I had to pay out of pocket at my old dentist for x rays that you could actually see anything on and was told this is THE WORST place in town and she has known people who work here and have "horror stories." 9. They talk down to the children and parents who come in This is a practice that should not be receiving tax payer money. They will ruin your teeth, use your benefits so you can't get help somewhere else, and cost you much more in the long run. And then delete your review, but keep a few bad reviews on their site so it looks less obvious. This is a predatory practice. read more

Charged my insurance for claims they never did was charged for cleaning and deep cleaning and they were not done they call filling teeth and cleaning them a deep clean and cleaning didn't clean my mouth or my teeth or do a deep cleaning like supposed to and sent to insurance that they did that's complete fraud major fraud cause none of that got done read more

Went in for an extraction, the process went quick and was in there for a good 30 mins

4th time a filling was supposed to fixed and they cancelled when I got to their office in Springfield. I drive round trip quite a few miles and no problem fixed. This place sucks and I would not recommend it to a dog! read more

I did not want to put any stars but I have to. They filled four of my son's teeth. After a week they were still hurting. I called them and they said we can walk in to see what was going on. The receptionists were rude and disrespectful. I ask them what the expected wait time was and they said who knows. I tried to tell them we were told to come in and they did not care. After waiting for sometime we left. We went to another dentist and were told they DID NOT fill the teeth all the way. Now we have to pay more money to fix what you have messed up on and talk to the insurance company cause you sure enough got that money plus our money for a bad job. read more

do not go to this office even for your pet. this is the worse office i have ever been to, they are nothing but liars every one of them. the dentist had me go get tori removed so i could get dentures, the first time dr did not do it right and i went through excruciating pain in springfield and i go back 6 weeks later just to be told i had to go to an oral surgeon whom i dearly loved to have the surgery done again because the dr did not cut it out, , and had no pain whatsoever and waited another month and i had a liver transplant almost 10 years ago and the dentist knew that, had me come 5 more times and it is 3 hours round trip and they did nothing each time and i was not happy, so they tell me to get a letter from liver doctor stating it is okay to pull my teeth mind you and my md same thing, my md laughed at them and thought they had lost their mind which most of them have. patricia the manager ( what a joke ) then said let me send your papers to uic in chicago dental school and they will call you. and then pull them all at once, what another lie.. i get an email from them and said they would call me within two weeks to make appointment and they lied . it has been over a month, hard telling what patricia told them, this place is also very dirty in the waiting area, so i called the main office and she apologized and said i will call peoria and we will get right back with you for an appointment with them, needless to say that was another lie, they did not call me either. i believe it is not that they didn't want to pull them they treated me like i had aids or something, wouldn't even get close to me, this chinese dentist was a nerd he said oh your teeth have big bone, wtheck?? no ship yeah teeth have bone, then they said the lady had cleaned my teeth to try to save them lol so you have to wait 5 months anyway before we can pull them after they are cleaned. see them in court!! stay clear of this place, oh and another time i heard yelling coming from the back and one of the dentist got mad and walked out ,they had to reschedule the people in the waiting room, lol.. read more

Super nice staff and did great work with my teeth while also easing my fears of the dentist

Let me start by explaining why I think I'm qualified to judge the quality of a dentist. As a teen, my parents had braces on me and we moved around some, so I've been to dozens of dentists then. As an adult, I struggled with bad teeth and have had extractions done in numerous states. There have only been a couple times when I felt compelled to leave a review because of GREAT service I got, this is one of those times. From the time you walk through the door, you are greeted by someone that has the most pleasant voice on Earth. When you get there, you'll see what I mean. And then from the time they got me back to having 4 teeth pulled was like 30 minutes tops. NORMALLY FAST WOULD BE A BAD THING, but this dentist was extremely gentle ( considering what he was doing) and even his assistant was adept at keeping me relaxed. Let me put it thus way, I am writing this review the morning after getting 4 teeth pulled if that tells you anything. My mouth doesn't hurt at all right this second, but prior to seeing this dentist, I was in constant agonizing pain. I would definitely recommend this dentist. Let's put it this way also, I was told numerous times I needed surgery that would have been a min of 6000 dollars, and then this place luckily came along and said " hold my beer" read more

Make sure that you're not even a single second late or else they'll cancel your appointment and go to lunch and make you reschedule for a month later. My best friend had an appointment, ONLY place that would take his 'insurance' and we lived out of town. He got lost and passed by it twice before finally truly finding it and going inside. He was told that since he was a minute......seriously 1 freaking minute......late, that she cancelled his appointment and went to lunch. That's pretty damn petty. He was a new patient and the only thing they were going to do was take x-rays and do a quick exam....no procedures that actually took time were to be done. They were not nice about telling him either. Very snotty, rude. Unfortunately, he has to wait now in order to finally be seen since this is the only place that takes his type of coverage. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! Had braces on for 6 YEARS and my teeth are fucked up. They WOULD NOT take my braces off professionally and respectfully! The orthodontic care is a JOKE. I had 7, YES 7, mediocre orthodontist over the 6 years through Familia. From THREE HOUR LONG APPOINTMENT waits to HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I had to go to another provider to get the braces removed and corrected. I wouldn't wish the complete torture I had to deal with FOR 6 YEARS to my worst enemy! HOW IS THIS PLACE STILL OPEN. Awful dentist office! They pulled all of my teeth in Feb, I am still fighting to get dentures 5 months later. They never return calls, I have spoken to management nothing helps the office staff is unprofessional, broke HIPPA rules, complained that the "carpet in the back sucks because I fell doing back flips how the hall." If you care about your teeth don't darken the doorstep of a Familia Dental Clinic. When they give you a filling, you come home with sharp-edged gritty crap all over your teeth. They also tell you that you have cavities when you don't and when you confront them about filling the same teeth over and over, they tell you "FILLINGS DON'T LAST especially if you eat a lot of crunchy things like potato chips". This dentist office is not only disgusting but on top of not being clean the orthodontist messed up my child's mouth and caused her agony that lasted for 3 days when he refused to take her braces off. I had to take her back because her gums were swelling over her brackets that he left exposed without rubber bands, this was done I believe for not brushing good enough for his standards. Then when we took her back he refused to take them off arguing with me for twenty minutes until I screamed to take them off. Then he was slamming his tools around with anger as he finally took them off then refused to check her mouth even if though she sat up with a mouth full of blood. ~*~I'm not good at these things, so please dont mind my grammar or any of that :) ~*~ After about a month of gradually escalating tooth pain I finally found a place that could get me in with my low income & no insurance. 19$ I was ecstatic and made the appointment for that day. I haven't been able to eat, nor have I slept more than 4 hours a night with this pain. I have tried everything to try to calm it, even my friends suggestion to hold ice in my right hand till it was uncomfortable , nothing had worked. The cavity is scraping on my tongue causing a sore, shooting pain in my ear and behind my eye, down my throat, and swelling my jaw. I must say they did a great job of getting me back without a long wait, the dental assistant was very kind., all was going great, I was happy. It took 2 painful trys to get my x-rays and they only x-rayed 2 teeth (any dentist I have been to before took a full mouth x-ray) that left my mouth bleeding. The dentist came in and didn't even look at my x-rays he just poked at the tooth that hurt. I started to cry as he tapped on my tooth (I know im a big baby). He told me I'm over reacting because it was just staining and I didnt have any cavities. Still in tears I looked at him and said "LOOK, I'm not crazy" and painful placed about 2cm of my pinky nail into the hole in my tooth. He then took his hook shoved it into the cavity, pulled out what look like a bit of food and said "you do have a cavity. . It's to bad to fix, you need to pull it or have a root canal." I asked how much to pull it and was told 200$ and that is with a 20% discount for no insurance and asked if i wanted to pull it now. I informed him if it made the pain go away I want it pulled but wont have 200$ till I get paid Friday. He said ok come back Friday and started to walk away. I stopped him and asked for antibiotics or something to help me relieve the pain until I come back Friday. He told me he can not give me anything but 12 800mg ibuprofen until after I get it pulled, not even antibiotics.(you dont think I tried a anti inflammatory pain med already?) So another 4 days of sleepless nights and suffering. I start to make the appointment and to come to find out hes not even available till Saturday.. aweful. . I had cancer that and was on medication that caused damage to my teeth, and because I don't have a great paying job or dental insurance I dont deserve a full comprehensive dental exam with a competent dentist that can see a large hole in my tooth or receive anything to relieve the pain that I can't get over the counter. I'm not sure I want to give them the outrageous 200$ to non-surgically remove my tooth the way I was treated like a drug seeking hypochondriac. I called corporate after I got home to make a formal complaint and was nicely asked to leave a message for them to get back to me later in the week as customer care was swamped with calls at the moment. Angry, appalled, disgusted.. just a few words I would use to describe my "service" with familia. I went in last week for a missing filling. due to my fear of dentists I put it off until it started causing me pain. after calling I thought oh great! they can get me in today to fix this, awesome! umm no, it was anything but awesome. after having my entire mouth xrayed I was told I had several cavities and she could fill them today. I signed the forms and she said she would be back to numb my mouth and get started. as she was numbing my mouth another employee came back to inform her (the dentist) of a lady who had just called in to complain about her! in front of me! I wanted to leave right then but convinced myself to stay and get my teeth fixed. after my entire head was numb she starts drilling. I was there for 3 hours, she didn't even look at the tooth I came in complaining of pain in and on top of that she somehow cured a big glob of tooth filling to my uvula! I have been having nightmares every night since I left this hack shop AND 4 days later still have welts on my gums from where she stabbed all that novacain into my head. I am very displeased with the services received. I do not have dental insurance and they have a special going where you get an exam, X-rays and cleaning for $65. I just moved to Springfield, so I do not have a family dentist yet and figured I'd give them a try. The cleaning consisted of a quick polish only. I have never received a cleaning where all they do is polish your teeth. Most do a thorough plaque removal using dental equipment, floss, etc. Not there! I have one small cavity that needs to be filled. They brought me a form and said I needed to sign it for my file. I told her I wasn't comfortable signing it as it reads "I request and authorize the dentist to perform the work described above." I know for a fact I will not return so I didn't want to sign it. It was regarding the future dental work quote and permission to do the work. She said it meant nothing, I wasn't required to have the work completed if I decided not to. I signed it reluctantly, but I will not return. Save your money and brush your own teeth! I've also never had a dentist that didn't give you a toothbrush/paste/floss etc at the end of your visit. Not that it's a huge deal, it's just strange that they didn't do that either. Not impressed! read more

I was appalled regarding the treatment my son and I received. The front desk staff were not friendly and made us feel like, "What the hell you doing here". The dentist assessed my son's teeth and x-rays. Instead of explaining to me, his Mother, she explained to him, a 15 year old. I could not even hear what she was saying. I had to ask another employee what she said because she ran out of the room. The diagnosis she stated was my son had a nerve from his tooth in his sinus cavity. That sounds important and for her to tell a 15 year old was very unprofessional. She also acted like she didn't want to be there. Needless to say, we will never go back. I should have listened to everyone else before scheduling appointments with Familia Dental as others stated it was a horrible dental office and how the dentists assessed and made wrong diagnoses, rude, etc. Remember, this dental office is working with a lot of children and this behavior is not warranted. If one decides to schedule appointments with Familia, think again, your mouth is at stake. read more
