Yelp came through again!!!…read more Things don't always go as planned while in vacation. Last night while in Lexington, Kentucky at 11:30 pm my boyfriend's crown popped out. I yelped "emergency dental" and saw the post from a patient who had an emergency and was also on vacation. So, while on the road heading to Springfield, at 7:40 this morning we called Dr. Capati's after hours number and told him what happened. He said to call his staff at 8:00 and we did; they were able to squeeze in Stephen at 2:50 pm. The staff texted him a link for dental information (ie name, address, issues, etc) and by the time we arrived, everything was taken care of. He was done within 45 minutes and he said the tooth feels great. He's extremely happy and gives high praise to the staff and doctor.

I have made the call to do annual cleaning but it ended up be another "advanced" cleaning, named as: first time visit cleaning. This cleaning might be needed if you have not do your dental appt for more than 5-10 years, but for most ppl with insurance covered, we do cleaning annually, this advanced check make no sense, especially the dental trying to play the game to not mentioning specifically that they are doing a cleaning that will not be covered by insurance completely. So remember to ask clearly before they give you anything to sign!

My first appointment, I thought everything went great, everyone was friendly. I paid. I left. I reluctantly paid another hundred or so dollars at the beginning of that appointment. When the end of my appointment came, I verified THREE TIMES that this was the FULL TOTAL that I was paying and that next time I come, I would not be surprised with a bill. I was assured and reassured (again I specifically asked 3 times) that this was the full and total balance and I would not have a surprise charge later. Well, MONTHS go by and I get a letter in the mail for a bill stating I owe 300 DOLLARS for that same visit. I call to inform them and I have to call numerous time with no answer. Finally, I leave a voicemail and they return my call. That got me nowhere and they threatened to send me to collections. During a global pandemic where my family got hit really hard and I am now unemployed. They would not offer a lower amount or payment plan, so now I have a 300 dollar balance I am supposed to somehow pay to collections, for something I don't feel I owe. So every single day that I cannot come up with the money, my credit is further destroyed. I dont know how anyone can run a business like this. Clearly the only reason they are still open is because they scam people out of hundreds of dollars and threaten them into forking over more money for something that was already paid for in full. This was not the case. They did administer the "laughing gas" but it didn't do anything to calm her down. Dr. Maggie Schaefer Gilpin then proceeded to tell my daughter that "she is too old to be acting this way". My daughter was very distraught and upset and the dentist refused to talk to me about the situation. I was going to different dentist office and they kept wanting to redo fillings over and over again. I finally went for a 2nd opinion at Renken and the fillings I have are still great. I also have some TMJ issues that have gradually becoming worse and worse. Dr. Renken suggested botox at my last cleaning. I went for a consultation. While the price is a bit steep for the procedure, Dr. Renken listed to all of my concerns about my facial expressions being affected, side effects, the fact that the procedure is still new, etc... They were NOT pushy AT ALL about the procedure. We ultimately decided that I would try chiropractic methods for dealing with the TMJ before we decided to do the botox procedure. They were so understanding and awesome.
