Now and then, you will have visits where a number of arcades and pinball machines are out of order. Also, they are now starting to get new pinball games which was desperately needed. Upon further investigation, I learned how it all works post speaking with the staff member. First off, the pinball exterior machines are ran by a totally different company than Starcade and all those machines are .25 cents each. Starcade is stucked inside the former giant main restaurant of Keg and Case which offers unlimited gaming for $20. All the machines are set to free play after you pay the fee. There is a bar serving basic snacks such as chips, pizza and on tap local sodas. The liquor license was just recently obtained and the staff seems to think this will get rolling out within the next few months. I'm not a gamer, yet I can tell you lots of games exist vs. just pinball like the exterior. Inside Starcade, you will find both a main level and upstairs (where the former brewery was). It's dark, there are fun twinkle lights and LED signs. Starcade used to be located within Rosedale Mall so come give a warm welcome to them as they lay roots in Saint Paul! I look forward to returning and trying some games. It has a Can Can Wonderland feel but less complex. I'm very glad the building is getting used as it's a beautiful venue. Enjoy!

There are SO many games, and it's easy to lose track of time just walking around and trying everything. We went in the middle of the day for a day date, which was actually a really fun time to go. My biggest complaint was how many of the arcade games were broken or not working properly. When you're already paying a decent amount to get in, that was disappointing. It also kind of sucks that mini golf costs extra on top of admission. That being said, the mini golf course is definitely not your typical basic course. Some of the holes were a little lame, but most were really creative and cool, and it was probably one of the more unique parts of the experience. Overall, it's expensive, especially if you add mini golf, but if you go when you have plenty of time to hang out and play games for a few hours, you can definitely get your money's worth. It's a good spot to go on a double date, celebrate an occasion, take the kids out, etc. We loved the golf course! That was definitely the highlight. And the events calendar was packed, so I'll need to check out a drag show or art event soon:)

There is a lot to do here and some of it is more experiential than most locations with games. They had laser tag, for instance, which the kids just loved. They had dodge-em cars which were very popular as well, but the games were not as good as we have experienced at Dave & Buster's in Edina or at the Burrough out in Victoria. Their game card is very confusing. You buy a $50 card, but it only has 25 points on it. But it gives you unlimited use of some of the experiential games. So we wasted a lot of time upfront trying to figure that out. Front desk staff was helpful, but in general, the supervising teenagers there were aloof and just doing their jobs. They have a small grill and the food was surprisingly good. My husband had an excellent hamburger with french fries and the kids and I each had small individual size pizzas which were very good. I asked the kids to rate it while we were in the car and they gave it five stars. But when they compared it to Dave & Buster's, they gave it no stars to Dave & Buster's 10 stars. I give it overall four stars and I'm taking a Star away because the bathrooms were dirty and 3 out of 4 bathrooms none of the water was working in the sinks so we couldn't wash our hands. They win on Dodge cars, laser tag, and decent snacks.

We usually take them to the Victoria Burough were they drop a $50 worth of points into the claw machines and runoff some energy. But they don't open till 4 o'clock and it was noon. So we tried Dave & Buster's and what a surprise! The place evidently is completely remodeled. it's all twinkling new and immaculately clean even the bathrooms. It has a huge gaming area. Along with games along one side wall of the restaurant there are 4 huge television viewing areas you could see anything you wanted to see, and we were able to watch soccer, baseball, tennis and college football. They have a lunch plus game card deal, which is your best value if you're going to eat. So each of the grands had two cards to blow in the gigantic gaming area. Food was very good particularly the double cheese smash burger and the crispy chicken sandwich. Service was friendly and prompt. Granddaughter said, in her oh-so-matter-of-fact-way, I guess we'll be coming back here again. (Only 3 mediocre claw machines though, Dave and Buster could step it up in that category.)

The birria beef was flavorful, but there was a little too much avocado crema for my taste, and the consommé didn't have much flavor, which was disappointing since that's usually one of the best parts of a birria dish. My mother-in-law ordered a rice bowl and said it was huge but had way too much rice compared to everything else. My partner had the Alfredo, and that was probably the favorite at our table. It was creamy, tasted great, and I liked that they used cavatappi pasta instead of the usual fettuccine. We skipped appetizers and dessert this time. Overall, the food was decent but didn't really wow me. I'd give it about 3 out of 5 stars. The Alfredo was a pleasant surprise, but the loud atmosphere and a few misses with the food would make me think twice before coming back during a busy event.

Wait times were not bad at all and I do love the amount of interaction that is involved with the store with all the games that are also featured here too. My one big gripe about this place is that the games itself are overly expensive and I understand that they give you "bonus credits" for what you spend when you initially get your card. I only put $10 in but I only played a few games since that's all that I could afford. Mainly I just enjoy playing all the pinball games which I was sucker for. It's got a great sports bar atmosphere but expect to possibly spend about $80-$100 if you're coming here with friends . It's a fun time but it's enough to break the wallet a bit
