Mark impressed us! My husband is a DIY'er, so it is not easy for him to have a handyman around. He was happy for the work he did on our home. Mark helped us with many projects which had been sitting in our to do list for quite a while. In particular, he was the only person we consulted who figured out immediately how to remove an old dishwasher that had been imprisoned by a not so great tile installer. Mark charged me $ 50 an hour for 7 hours including lunch time. When you sign his proposal be sure that each item is described completely in detail. For example, he wrote "at block wall scrape off bubbles and clean and primer and paint spots." He told me that scraping and painting my brick wall did not include the top of it. Really? He added the bill up wrong and after leaving to deposit my check I called him about his error. He returned w a $ 20 bill to give me. We had him build a half-wall and half-door entrance to a side room by our entryway, and it came out looking fantastic. Mark is, in a word, awesome. He has the ability to look at a job and anticipate what will be encountered, and then plan ahead accordingly. That is really important when you hire him to work on a ceiling that the family uses all the time as part of the living/family room. I replaced our shake roof with clay tile and installed 6 skylights in the living room... over 15 years ago. But I never opened the ceiling to enjoy them. Mark recently accepted the job of opening up the ceiling, and even accommodated my mid-job change requests, by moving and extending the ceiling duct work and rerouting more electrical wiring than I care to count up there. He even framed the opening every 4 feet, so my job of installing sheetrock went perfectly. And he managed to do it all in record time. Mark is extremely fair on pricing and always gets the work done in the time quoted. - and he cleans up the job site so well, that I have had to up my cleanup game now, whenever I do any home repairs. I called Mark because I had flooded the laundry room and the base, inside of 2 of the cabinets looked awful and the kickplate was protruding out on the floor - in a word - it was a mess! Mark came to look at it and then came the next day, with materials and fixed the cabinet floors and made a new kickplate, caulked the gap between the tile countertop and backsplash, and installed two new lights, one in the laundry and one in the pantry. We had several needs to complete a garage conversion into a bedroom and large family room. A key to the project included adding a window in each room. Mark did a fantastic job creating the window placements (in the bedroom he had to cut through two walls). Long story short, Mark was responsible for ordering and installing the windows .... Wow! what a difference in the entire remodel ... Mark's professionally installed windows have already received many positive comments. Mark also was asked to redirect a hot water heater exhaust pipe and drainage tube through a side wall, custom fit slotted closet doors, and he framed a 27' x 10' wall which also include a large closet with a shelf/hanger bar. It all looks great! It was an easy decision for us to have Mark do our remodeling work because several months ago we had Mark and his dad build for us an awesome second story deck off of our bedroom (approximately 10' x 28' wood deck).
