The problem is I have 20 foot ceilings that is hard to reach due to a winding staircase right underneath it! Scaffolding needed to be set up and while it was complicated Izzy managed to set it up. The back yard of our recently-bought home has a city easement drain, with an opening about 4x5 ft, and 3ft deep. It has a wood cover that is very old (maybe original, around 1991). I was nervous whenever anyone stood on it, and recently some faint drain odors were coming through, so I wanted a new one to be built. A week or so ago, I texted a handyman that I have worked with before. He replied immediately, but said he doesn't do that kind of work (which is fair enough). So I sent a Yelp request to 2 other handymen, both of whom get great reviews. They both responded within minutes. One sent a labor-only quote, but E&M Handy Services (Izzy) offered to swing by the next day to look at the job. I liked that because, to price the job accurately, you'd really have to see it. Izzy came by as promised. He's a very pleasant guy. He listened closely to what I wanted (redwood cover, with underlying sheet plywood to seal the opening), and he made some good suggestions. He even asked if I wanted to contact the city, to have them deal with it (so it wouldn't cost me anything). I was very impressed by that, because it meant that he would be giving up the $$. However, even though it might have saved me money, I decided not to do that (mainly because trying to get the city to take responsibility, then waiting for them to fix it, could take ages). So, I thanked him for the idea, but asked him to go ahead and send me a quote. That evening, he sent me a quote for materials + labor. I accepted. He bought the materials, and then he built the cover off-site. Today, he delivered it. It's exactly what I wanted: redwood, sturdy, and fits the opening perfectly. It looks much better, seals much better, and it's safe to walk on. Izzy even took away the old cover (which I appreciated). He accepts Zelle, so I was able to pay him on the spot. His number is now in my contacts list, because if/when we need other jobs done, I'll most definitely ask him to take a look. read more

Solution: --After receiving photos of the door, Izzy quickly diagnosed that the weather caused the wooden door to shrink and that the old door was built for interior use, not exterior use. --Izzy and his team members, Sergio and Anthony, installed a steel door and added wooden strips to make it a perfect fit around the frame. --Sergio painted the roof's fascia, while Anthony roller-painted the door.
