We'd like some potato with our salt and pepper, please.
Craig O.

We tried Falafel Place years ago shortly after they first opened and weren't impressed. After our usual go-to falafel/shawarma place wasn't delivering this weekend we decided to give them another try. Won't be fooled again. Shawarma: gristle-filled and not flavorable. Falafel: fine, nothing outstanding. Baba ganoush: tasted like boiled eggplant puree. Very underseasoned, lacking the distinctive "char' flavor and more importantly any lemon. Rice: overcooked and soggy?? Fries: Inedible. It's like all of the salt and pepper that could have gone into other dishes were piled onto the fries. We had to *scrape* the salt and pepper off of each fry and even then we ditched them, tossing almost the entire order in the trash. The picture doesn't even do it justice, they were *crunchy* with salt and pepper. Because there are always some silver linings, I will say they delivered quickly (went through their site, rather than GH or UE or a third party) and they are not expensive. However, when you're tossing half of what you receive it doesn't really matter how cheap it is.

Chicken Shawarma Plate

Got delivery and it was delicious. Chicken shawarma plate (over rice and salad), with some extras for $1 each. The hot sauce is fire. Nice, hearty, plate of middle eastern comfort food!

Side of fries $3.99

I got the Lamb Shawarma Plate $14.50 (includes $1 of hummus) and its enough food for 3 meals. It's delicious, I recommend the lamb so much. It's freshly cooked to the plate. The lamb plates come with a spicy sauce and a white sauce. I prefer eating it with hummus the most. A side is plenty to eat the plate. The Baklava is THE BEST around and I wish I got more than just one piece. The side of fries is a large amount for $3.99.

Kafta kabob plate

So I haven't actually tried the namesake of this restaurant, but they do serve a decent lamb shawarma and kafta kabob plate over a generous portion of rice with a refreshing cucumber salad on the side. It also comes with pita bread and strangely addicting tahini sauce. The meat itself was generously portioned and seasoned but tasted slightly dry and chewy. However, the overall plate was enough for two meals which I appreciated given that Boston restaurants are often stingy, and the price didn't break my bank. The place itself only has a few tables though and could use better ventilation. It's more of a takeaway option unless you don't mind smelling like food.

Excellent food, but sometimes the quality isn't top notch. Seasoning on the fries is wicked good.

Delivery takes forever (almost 2 hours) and food arrives cold. They really need to improve this.

Love the shawarma wraps here. So flavorful. The garlic sauce they use is like crack. Definitely a gem in Winter Hill.

This visit was just as delicious as our past several visits but the night was quite amazing! They had a performer singing and playing middle eastern music which added to the night. When we walked in the waitress greeted us as old friends welcoming us back, and just felt nice to get that warm reception. They truly aim to make everyone feel like family there. The food was amazing starting with a mezze plate with hummus, babaganoush, yogurt with mint, and the best falafel ever! We also had the special French fries with an amazing sauce I can't spell but definitely exceptional. We also shared the main course The Koshiri special which is a mix of rice, levtals, macaroni and sone other things with a set of sauces you add to taste, and that's can be ordered spicy to mild, we had medium which warmed me right up! Desert was amazing with a filo bred pudding which is delicious and light, and we had the rice pudding which maybe the best I've had in a long time! Great night, great food and music made for an exceptional date night! Thank you!

Although we commuted from Cambridge, this meal was worth it. For two people, we got: - Black Seed Cornbread: it's soft, sweet yet savory. I've never had cornbread like this, and the first bite into this was unforgettable. You must get this. - Honey Nut Hummus: this was honestly fine and I'd probably try a different dip next time. - Warm Gyro bread: well seasoned and great to share between two. I normally don't like gyro but I enjoyed this. - Lamb al pastor: this was a favorite. It was sweet and the lamb was tender. We were really impressed with the sauce. - Brussel sprout bravas: this was okay. I liked the crunchy nuts and the star of this dish was once again the sauce/seasoning rather than the brussel sprouts. With all of these dishes, we ordered enough for two, with a few bites leftover. If you have a smaller appetite, you could get away with ordering a plate less. Overall, I loved the dining experience here. Even though I'm not typically a small plates mediterranean person, I appreciated Sarma - from its beautiful interior space and open kitchen concept, to the liveliness of the restaurant on a random weekday night. Definitely come here if you're in the area (or even if you're not!)

The food was overly salty, and the portions were very small.... even for tapas style dining. The flavor profiles just weren't there. The only thing that I would say tasted good was the cornbread and lamb skewer (which was definitely overpriced still). The cornbread was impressive and the ingredients made for a unique flavor. Service was also underwhelming. While the staff did their job, there wasn't much warmth or attentiveness and we didn't feel welcomed. We left feeling pretty disappointed given the hype and effort it took to get a reservation.
