He figures out pretty quickly the shape and size that look best on you, and he walks around and brings frames back to you to try on. Of course, you can walk around and find some yourself, but Joe always brings DIFFERENT selections to me--usually ones that I don't pick up. He knows me every time I walk in the door, and if I ever have an issue with one of my many pairs (I stepped on my favorite pair a few months ago, and bent them to the point they were not wearable!), he steps right in and fixes them. This eye doctor in the Waldo neighborhood hit every box: - Communicative - Professional - Friendly - On time - Availability - Efficiency They also offered something during my routine eye exam that I loved; the option to pay $35 extra to skip the dilation and instead use some sort of Star Wars technology to take a picture of the back of your eye. Well worth it for not having to have blurry, weird vision for the rest of the day. I see Dr. Yates, and my oldest comes here now too and looks forward to it. The office is very nice, and there is parking but it can be tight in the little adjacent lot. Nothing but good vibes here, good location, and I never dread my annual trip in. I was a patient for over 12 years, but I am probably not going to be anymore. Let me disclose somethings that they do NOT disclose until you are already done: 1. If you bring in an outside pair of glasses, because you don't like what they have in stock - they will charge you at least $20 - even if they are filling the script and you are their patient. You brought in a pair of glasses that was not purchased through their store. 2. If you get cataract surgery, and you later need a pair of readers, they sold my father an (81 year old man) readers that cost over $700 which could have been purchased OTC for less than $50. 3. Also, if you wear contacts - they will charge you $85 - not covered by most insurance. Doesn't matter that your prescription hasn't changed, they just want the additional $85 - as "there are materials involved," so I was told. I don't recall anything different from any other eye exam. It ended with, "we have to renew your prescription." So there it is - $85 to renew prescriptions.
