Once to the St Paul de Vincent Thrift Store, we were so impressed with the size and organization. Friendly people to greet you was you walk in. Their prices and specials are greater than Goodwill. Inside is a massive space filled with every type of treasure imaginable. Their clothes section has a great selection and includes plus sizes. Shoes are a bit hit or miss but they make up for that in other ways. My absolute FAVORITE part of the store is their book selection. It's organized by genre and then by author which makes looking for you perfect next read so much easier. I also like that they are inexpensive compared to some other places around town. They run random sales on top of their weekly 25% and 50% off so follow their Facebook page for that information. Their employees have always been very kind and helpful anytime I've needed something from them.

I…read morestopped in to give my legs a bit of a break from my brisk walk, and that's about all the visit was good for. Grocery items all seemed to be of questionable origin, freshness, and quality, and their prices didn't really seem to be any lower on most of them than what one would find at a conventional grocery store. I was amused by the "hardware" section. The tools were of laughably poor quality (far worse than Harbor Freight fare), and the prices were far too high for their (complete lack of) quality. Their apparel section has among the strangest fashions I've ever seen, and I suspect that none of them will actually ever sell. One curiosity, though, was a selection of rugs. If you're in Vancouver, and need a rug, this may be worth a visit.

Before leaving them, I was given the general explanation of how the buying/consignment process works. The woman doing the intake told me they were only taking seasonal items (fall/winter) and said that information was available on their website. I checked the website afterward and was unable to find that information posted. I also was not told that there was a "baby clothing buying freeze" or that baby items were not currently being accepted. If I had known that upfront, I would not have spent the time bringing everything in and leaving it for review. I was contacted later and told they couldn't take anything because they were on a baby clothing buying freeze, and that holiday items would not be purchased until September. That information would have been helpful to know before drop-off. I also received my clothes back unfolded and messy, despite bringing them in neatly folded. I understand that resale shops have to make decisions about what inventory they need, but clear communication about what categories and seasons you are currently accepting, especially before customers spend time sorting, folding, and hauling in bags of items, would make for a much better experience.

Not only were a couple of booths literally just actual trash, while I was standing there wanting to potentially buy something in a case, he and another person started loudly complaining about Democrats "stealing their money" and "giving it to *other* people." I've suspected the owner was probably conservative before that, but never cared to confirm it. Today's tirade, though, is something I can't overlook. I was extremely uncomfortable with the hostility. So I left, and won't be back. I'm sure some conservatives may get a kick out of this, but shouldn't they be wanting a liberal to buy an American flag? I won't be back. Even if this has been an anti-conservative tirade, I would have been put off. I was there to destress from the political dumpster fire we're in, not to be subject to political b*tching so loud so suddenly that it's hard to imagine it wasn't on purpose. I'm done with them. The decline in item quality was already enough. This sealed it.
