I…read moredon't usually love when thrift or consignment stores do this, but in this case, it worked out. I happened to be in the neighborhood shortly after seeing the post and stopped in. The item was still available. It was priced a little higher than I'd like, but they offer a 20% off for first time visitors and that made it a little closer to my budget so I went for it. This is a small store with mostly decor as the name suggests: plates, figurines, chotchkies. It is consignment so the arrangements sometimes depend on what the sellers have available. For example, when I visited, someone was offloading a Disney collection. There is a small clothing area, not much if any big furniture. Most of the pictures on this Yelp page appear to be from an old location. Staff greeted me, offered to answer any questions, and provided a smooth check out.

The downtown strip is a joy to walk down, and folks shopping for antiques will be pleased to see that there are a number of related businesses nearby (furniture, home goods, specialty items, even another antiques shop!) Inside the shop, everything is actually what you think of when you think "antique." Sometimes I feel that the places I try to shop for vintage/antique items are too polished now. I love the almost museum-like feeling of a shop that is crowded and full from floor to ceiling with treasures to be uncovered. The merchandise itself is VERY fairly priced. I found several beautiful pieces of jewelry for just a couple bucks each (a broach and two strands of fake pearls) and the higher quality jewelry available for purchase (i.e. real stones and pure metals) were also incredibly reasonable. I was blown away, actually, by the pricing. I have found that the thrift/vintage stores in downtown Portland are willing to gouge prices and are barely worth the work sometimes. This was NOT the case here, and I highly recommend you make the drive-- the bang-for-your-buck pays off. The person at the checkout was very friendly. She greeted us when we entered (and greeted every person who entered the store), was sweet and chatty during checkout, and didn't lose her cool even when a rowdy bunch of kids and a couple with a barkey dog were running around. This is the best antique experience I have had in ages, and I am so glad I went! I will return again.

Grocery items all seemed to be of questionable origin, freshness, and quality, and their prices didn't really seem to be any lower on most of them than what one would find at a conventional grocery store. I was amused by the "hardware" section. The tools were of laughably poor quality (far worse than Harbor Freight fare), and the prices were far too high for their (complete lack of) quality. Their apparel section has among the strangest fashions I've ever seen, and I suspect that none of them will actually ever sell. One curiosity, though, was a selection of rugs. If you're in Vancouver, and need a rug, this may be worth a visit.
