Vintage Stanley on sale for $20
    Sarah C.

Barton Antique Mall is a massive barn stuffed with collections of various antiques. Note: the experience of shopping is like thrifting as you have to hunt down what you're looking for BUT I wouldn't call it a thrift store, as prices are not necessarily affordable. The barn itself was built in the 1920s and is on the Oregon Historic Registry. It's hard to see the barn beyond all the stuff. Outside, metal goods and lawn items litter the porch and yard. Some are rusting and a little worse for wear, unfortunately. Perhaps they could be restored but the prices don't reflect the work needed in my opinion. Inside, stalls are curated by different vendors. They've got taxidermy, license plate art, neon glass, furniture, plates, vintage camp goods, books, decor, and so much more. Vendors organize their wares like little set pieces. Some are like mini living rooms, some are like sheds. Some areas have a cohesive theme, some are a little bit of everything. Vendors set the prices. They run various sales. You can negotiate but it may involve some back and forth between the counter staff, the vendor, and you. With narrow aisles at points, and an old floor, it can feel claustrophobic and overwhelming to shop here. But at the same time, the thrill of the hunt and the magic of a good find make it a fun experience when you have the time and energy.

This mirror goes perfectly in my entry way!

Lovely owners who are very friendly. I just moved I to the area and would drive by quite often going into Portland. I've now been in a few times and the photos are proof. LOL. One must visit often!

This was my first time out here and don't think I would have ever found it had someone at another antique store not told me. What a hidden treasure! Most booths are very fairly priced from what I looked at. Lots of beer memorabilia, furniture, hats, kitchenware, lamps, toys, etc. the outdoor furniture was fabulous...sad I don't own a truck to haul it...yet maybe that's a good thing! lol

It's not that far of a drive from others stores around Portland and they have much better prices.

They have a very inflated view of themselves and treat customers as though they are they are just a necessary evil . I wanted to get the clasp fixed of a gold and diamond bracelet recently appraised at $4200 via professional appraiser, who had been in business 50 years and did work for Cartier. I had the clasp replaced a couple of years ago by a jeweler down the road that was quite careless and did a terrible job. I was impressed with Vandenbergh Jewelers so thought to go to them. When I went in with the bracelet and explained I had it fixed just down the road, that it was poorly done, so I went to them this time. They seem to want to know why I didn't go to them in the first place and I explained that they were very hard to get into with very tight appointments at that time and I did not want to wait months to get the bracelet fixed. They seem to take a bit of offense at that, but it was simply a statement of truth since they seemed curious. I sensed immediate irritation. They took my bracelet and said they didn't know if they would fix it or not. They called me to pick it up a few days later and told me that I should just sell it for for junk scrap metal, and that they would not fix the clasp. Needless to say, I was furious and knew that they were simply insulting me because I didn't bring the bracelet to them in the first place. I will never go near this place again because anyone that arrogant and the belief that they are above others will always do a poor and halfway job. They have no business insulting a paying customer like this. I took the bracelet down the street into a very good jeweler who immediately mentioned how nice it was and said that it would be absolutely no problem and they have in fact repaired it at a very reasonable price. There are hundreds of jewelers out there and there's never a reason to put up with someone this arrogant and out of line like they're doing you a favor when you're paying them. I want to add to this that I am also a GIA certified gemologist and far more knowledgeable than the average person about metals and gems, but I am also a professional geologist and do not practice in the jewelry field. They were this stunningly insulting when they knew I in fact knew better . They simply felt they didn't need any more business and decided to get a little insult in on a perfect stranger because they didn't go to them to begin with. Or they are just arrogant and enjoy demeaning customers.

Also asks clients to remove big, hard to sell items beforehand. Isn't the whole point of hiring a liquidator to take the stress off the client and sell all their stuff the best you can? Everything about this company screams scummy scam behavior. And the prices...are we shopping online here and paying the most with retail prices listed at the sales?? Like seriously 100s of dollars for items that are at an estate sale and should be wayyyy less. Like this is an estate sale, no the online world of reselling. My guess is they are jacking up prices to where no one buys at the estate sales so it gets "donated" aka they take it to resale for full profit online. Therefore never paying the client what they should. Terrible. Please, if you are looking to have your home liquidated, find an honest one and skip this one for sure.

He prices the items incredibly low...maybe 1/10 of ebay value. This is good for the pickers...but the people whose estates these are...they are getting ripped off. Some of the sales are in distressed houses. When this occurs basically everything is slightly damaged. I understand low prices for this. I've seen very nice things go for way low. It makes the estate sale process fast but it certainly isn't a fair value to price the item at. The sign up system is ripe for fraud. The people at the top are his friends and the dealers. Not the person who signed up first. If he likes you and knows you, you get better place in the line. He really needs to replace this with a first come first serve numbering system same day. He lets in way too many people into these houses. This is bad for the house! It causes chaos. Its not really that fun when its like this. Kevin is a bully! If you get on his bad side which is incredibly easy...he'll treat you like crap. I suspect he drinks or has some mental health issues.
