I appreciate being able to make one stop and fulfill most of my shopping needs in one place! Seriously, I can spend hours perusing the aisles of this store. One of my favorite things about Monticello is they're always staying relevant by having their vendors update the look and feel of their booths, but also by hosting regular themed events that keep customers coming back. Have you visiting the holiday marketplace in the back half of the store each December? They turn the entire space into a winter wonderland that allows anyone to revel in the holiday spirit. I'm a big fan! And free mimosas? Count me in! All of my needs are met here. Lots of variety, great prices, a wonderful cafe with an extensive menu, clean restrooms and lots of neighborhood parking. I promise you, you'll definitely want to visit Monticello Antiques if you already haven't done so.

Tucked away on an out of the way shelf I found an old sports magazine with Drexler driving on Jordan during the playoffs, signed by Clyde, and I picked it up for only $30!!! But they have tons of treasures, all kinds of old political buttons, toys that you forgot you loved from your childhood, signs, books, posters and more. It's a great place to get a coffee and go exploring to see what you can find. If you're a fan of garage sales, or older knick knack type stuff this is a great place to spend an hour. The only draw back is that to use a credit card they have a surcharge, but that's understandable these days.

I came here during the holiday celebration and had an absolutely wonderful experience. To begin,…read morethe whole of the town is decorated during the holiday season, so the environment around the store is magical. The downtown strip is a joy to walk down, and folks shopping for antiques will be pleased to see that there are a number of related businesses nearby (furniture, home goods, specialty items, even another antiques shop!) Inside the shop, everything is actually what you think of when you think "antique." Sometimes I feel that the places I try to shop for vintage/antique items are too polished now. I love the almost museum-like feeling of a shop that is crowded and full from floor to ceiling with treasures to be uncovered. The merchandise itself is VERY fairly priced. I found several beautiful pieces of jewelry for just a couple bucks each (a broach and two strands of fake pearls) and the higher quality jewelry available for purchase (i.e. real stones and pure metals) were also incredibly reasonable. I was blown away, actually, by the pricing. I have found that the thrift/vintage stores in downtown Portland are willing to gouge prices and are barely worth the work sometimes. This was NOT the case here, and I highly recommend you make the drive-- the bang-for-your-buck pays off. The person at the checkout was very friendly. She greeted us when we entered (and greeted every person who entered the store), was sweet and chatty during checkout, and didn't lose her cool even when a rowdy bunch of kids and a couple with a barkey dog were running around. This is the best antique experience I have had in ages, and I am so glad I went! I will return again.

To make it easier for the "wife" a plethora of glasses in carriers or glasses surrounding an ice bucket were manufactured. Lots of silver patterns and 22 carat gold designs, and as time went on, green and gold, turquoise and gold, black, red, orange and other colors followed. This shop has them all! Every type of glassware in every color in a variety of carriers. Since I'm a huge fan of mid century bar ware, and mid century in general, this was my favorite shop in Aurora. Along with the cocktails, chips and dip was a popular snack and the chip and dip sets come in just as many varieties and colors. There were dozens and dozens of them here! The store is packed with inventory which means lots of items piled on every available service. I fell in love with a set of tall cocktail glasses with a turquoise pattern and gold acorns. Each came with an aluminum pointy stirring spoon. To see the pattern, I carried them up to the counter where there was a small patch of free space! I ended up buying them. The lamps here are also beautidal and plentiful. very funky! And don't get me started on the dish ware! The starburst collection would be perfect for my house but I just can't right now! Also spotted an Eames recliner chair and ottoman. The owner rehopolstered it so rather than the original leather, it is now covered in shades of advacado and gold circles. The owner is super knowledgeable and knowso every designer and the pieces they created. She grew up during those times and remembers her parents always entertaining which is where her love for mid century bar ware originated. I'm super excited about the new glasses I purchased and I will make the 25 minute trip to Aurora from Portland just for this shop!
