But, NH Scott & Hanekamp truly went above and beyond to help my family say a proper goodbye to our loved one who passed unexpectedly. Prior to picking NH Scott, my family called and visited several other funeral homes in the area. From our very first interaction, it was clear that NH Scott was superior. During our initial meeting with Justyne, it was evident she was focused on making us comfortable and making sure we knew what to expect during each step of the process (as opposed to being more focused on the business or contractual aspects of the arrangements). This is why we chose NH Scott initially, and we couldn't be happier that we did. Our initial impression proved to be very accurate. Justyne and the other owners and employees, including Jon, continued to provide a high-level of customer service and emotional support throughout the entire process. They were always incredibly easy to reach any time we had a question or request, and continued to always respond with kindness and understanding. I truly cannot say enough good things about this funeral home. I am so grateful for their help during this difficult time.

This is one of those businesses you hope you never have to use. But that said, every service I have attended here has been handled with respect, decorum and professionalism. The last service we were at several months ago was set up to live stream the service. I thought that was a nice touch as sometimes people do not have the ability to travel to locations or get time off of work. There is a nice size parking lot and the physical space and rooms are well maintained and clean.

I have always believed in "people first money second" especially in a time like this. Jamie Greenbaum was born for this position, her sensitivity, compassion and understanding of people who have lost a loved one was impeccable. Unfortunately this was a covid funeral which had many limitations, but Jamie and staff helped us honor and celebrate my father's life beautifully. The night before we needed to get photos in so they can make a montage. One of our family members gave me the wrong email and all emails came back with our pics. I was in tears, Jamie and staff at 7am the next morning 3 hours before the funeral made a miracle and what a job they did!!!! Thank you for all you do, Lori

And those gestures stand out in the midst of the pain, drawing you to those feelings of hope. Lloyd and his team partake in those moments. From the second I met him at his office after my grandmother passed away in January, Lloyd was kind, patient, understanding - a true mensch, providing the mitzvah the moment calls for. Every detail, every question, every answer, every suggestion - smooth and helpful. Martin was at the funeral the day-of (4 degrees fahrenheit with much snow on the ground) with their beautiful Prinzing hearse. Riding out in style, just like my Eastern European babushka would have wanted. haha. Martin was very present, professional, and helpful. I am so thankful to you, Lloyd, and to your team for helping me so much and for making the process so smooth. Thank you. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Before his passing, we had an initial visit with Michael regarding plot selection and he was helpful with helping us pick the location that best met our needs. No pressure, just a friendly visit and discussion. After he passed, we then worked with Sherry and Arlene to purchase the plot, casket, vault, shroud, death certificates, etc. The cost was substantial, but I imagine it is likely in line with other Jewish cemeteries in the area. Included in the cost is perpetual care of the grounds so there are no additional fees down the road. The chapel for his service was very nice and all of the people working there that day were super friendly. They live streamed his service which many in my family used. They also provided the ability to download the service which I decided to do. Shalom Memorial received the death certificates a few days afterwards from the village and we picked them right away so we could begin sending them to those who needed them. I really can't think of anything that I didn't like or was disappointed in.

While this process is always difficult, it couldn't have been easier or more smooth. Tony was wonderful: caring, thoughtful, resourceful, patient, and quick. He moved us through the decision-making process easily, recommended a rabbi and a Shiva location, and made things happen. The services were beautiful and meaningful, and our pain was eased because there was no additional stress. Many thanks from the Sandler family.
