I have been to many different dry cleaning businesses throughout the years while renting in different cities. I found this dry cleaning joint down the street from my new house in Costa Mesa. I decided to give it a try because the drive/ walk is very short. I would consider myself a tree hugger and all for helping the planet and when I found out this place was a green dry cleaning business I almost shit in my pants. Not unlike Carrie Bradshaw, who came to a much bewildered conclusion that her investment portfolio was stuffed and boxed, albeit somewhat neatly, in a small enclosed corner of her bedroom..ie. her closet... (Oh fictional sister, how I can relate) ...My closet overfloweth with silk, cashmere, and wool marked with the label that once made me release a loud sigh (and cry) - Dry Clean Only. Damn you, Anna Sui, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Nanette Lepore. You ladies I love and garments I adore. I'll never forget the disdain I felt taking my coveted Diane Von Furstenberg leopard wrap dress to another cleaner across the way to discover upon pick up day that a button on the cuff was completely missing as another dangled loosely by a thread, sadly, as if to say, "Why...? Why did you send me here to die...? I've lost my companion and now I'm all alone in this world..." Not to mention the horrible chemicals used...yuck. And so with a heavy heart, I hung my non-machine washable, seemingly non-wearables in the deepest crevice of my closet... That is, until I discovered Fairview Cleaners! What's this? An environmentally friendly dry cleaner? No harsh perchloroethylene? Fantastic! Why I don't mind if I DO reduce my carbon footprint as much as possible AND stay as healthy as can be in the process! Though it is a little pricier than harsher, chemical-induced dry cleaning, isn't it worth it? Trust me, it is. Look up the effects of perchloroethylene exposure and try to raise an argument. The women that work at Fairview are extremely nice and not only do my clothes come back smelling and looking great, they glow. Because they're happy. Ok, they don't really glow... but *I* certainly do as I hang them back in the front of the closet where they belong! I hardly ever get any of my cltohes dry cleaned. I guess I'm not as fancy as I thought... :/ Well, I took a black military pea coat jacket to Fairview Cleaners that had a couple of white stains on them and they got it out like magic! Nooo, no, not those kind of stains. I wasn't actually sure how it got stained, but needless to say, they got it out without so much as a glitch. They do alterations here as well so I had them tightened all the 14 buttons on military jacket and it all came out to be $7.50. Good deal! I think I'll use them for all my cleaning and alterations needs. Especially after the lady at the shop told me that they have 40+ years of experience in alterations. This review has nothing to do with the actual service of this place as I never made it that far. It is rather about the customer service. I called this place to see if they offer pickup and delivery of dry cleaning, the reason I chose this place is because it had the best reviews and had decent pricing. The woman that answered the phone could not understand English at all. I clearly asked "if they offer pickup and delivery for dry cleaning" and her response was " we do dry cleaning" in a very thick accent. then I tried to explain what I was asking and she started saying "hello, hello" like she couldn't hear me then hung up. I called back and received the same responses from her. Not that their work isn't any good, and I understand there was a language barrier, but it is very disappointing that a business in my neighborhood can't communicate in English and would treat me so rudely because I don't speak their native language. If I spoke to the owner then I'm surprised they have such good reviews, if that was not the owner, then I would advise the owner to get someone with better customer service skills to work the phones. read more

I went to Fairview Cleaners the other day for the first time with a hopeless cause, or so I thought. My husband had left a piece of gum in his business shirt pocket. I washed and dried his shirt and was devastated to see the gum residue and stains on the pocket. I searched on yelp for local dry cleaners that had good reviews and this one came up. I took the shirt into them with very low expectations of it being salvaged. The lady I spoke with didn't get my hopes up too high but promised to try. She quoted me a price of $4 for the stain removal and dry cleaning. I thought it was a price worth the risk to save a $50 shirt if possible. I came back five days later and a miracle had occurred! They were able to get the stain out completely!! His shirt is as good as new, cleaned and pressed. I will definitely be returning to Fairview Cleaners for any future dry cleaning needs. read more

I am very stingy when it comes to drycleaning. Or rather, I am ultra lazy and unbelievably irresponsible when it comes to taking care of my clothes because I am a klutz who spills, drips, and splatters all over anything I own. So, there just doesn't seem to be any point to taking care of my clothes properly. Hence, I usually go for Drycleaners Secret or Dryel - "the cheapskate, I don't care about stains, I just want my clothes not to reek" method of caring for one's wardrobe. But once a year or so (gosh, that sounds really bad... I do observe good hygiene, I swear. I'm a Virgo!), I do splurge on an annual or semi-annual proper laundering of my dry clean only clothing. However, when that time approached this year, I learned that the chemicals used in drycleaning are toxic for the environment and the individual. Fairview, I believe, uses CO2 wet cleaning. So even though Fairview is way out of the way for me, I swung by on my weekly trip down to the OC and plunked down $100+ (minus the customary 10% fluent native Korean discount) and returned with a trunk full of incredibly fresh and STAINLESS clothing. Given the newness of the CO2 technology, I was fully prepared for less than spotless, but Fairview managed to get out stains that traditional drycleaners hadn't done successfully, which is remarkable given that stains that have set in are nearly impossible to remove! As far as dry cleaners go, you either find a good one or you just put up with the bad service because well, you need your clothes cleaned. I found this place on yelp after I moved to a new city and have been for the most part, really happy with the prices and service. I'm not sure what it is about dry cleaners in general, but they always seem to put up a fight when you tell them you need it the next day. This is another horrible cleaners! So the first cleaners I use to go to had a hair problem! When I would get my clothes back there would be a ton of little hairs all over them, now at this place I'm not sure they even dry clean your clothes! I know for sure they don't iron or steam your belongings like they should be doing. I received my clothes as well as my comforter back full of wrinkles and they smelled worse than when I took them into this place. Their prices are ridiculous, and the owner just has a weird personality is the best way I can describe her. She is definitely a shady young lady. They do a great job here on all kinds of different problems: a dress with an unidentified stain (I got it at a thrift store and didn't notice the stain until I was at home); another dress with a million seams, some of which were coming apart, that they sewed up perfectly; my quilt which was stained from something wet being set on it. Everything has come out beautifully and smelling fresh and clean, not like chemicals. I'm probably also a little biased because the first time I brought some items there the two women up front told me how pretty I am, which is always nice to hear. read more

I thought the cleaning quality was average. It wasn't bad though. They are slightly higher than average for dry cleaning a shirt. Slightly longer turn around time than what I would expect. They didn't take out my collar stay on one shirt and it's now somehow stuck inside the shirt. I don't know how they got it there. I see no hole. I'd have to say this place uses magic. read more
