There's a spinner, two slides, a bridge, monkey bars, a rock wall for climbing, rope climbing structure, swings, and even a table for imaginary play. The flooring is padded and really safe for kids of all ages. I love that there's no tan bark/wood chips like the other parks. There isn't a lot of shade so on sunny days, make sure to bring water and take breaks. Overall, this is a quiet and stimulating park for children of all ages. Will definitely be back!

Now being from KY you would think I love horses - I don't . I tolerate them at best. A 1200 lb animal with the brain of a walnut and an owner with a bigger brain but less sense is quite disturbing. However, if you ignore the annoying horses and owners Woodside is one of the best running areas on the Peninsula. Routes There are several routes you can run to tie together several main parks, or you can remain solely on the Woodside town trails and cover several miles. I park at Woodside elementary. From here you can run east or west and run several miles through the town on trails and tag on Huddart or Wunderlich park. Pros Can take dogs on all trails (except for the parks) Entire route is dirt trail Pretty and peaceful Water at the corner of Kings and Tripp road Cons Horse poo everywhere Can be hot in the summer Not good for runs over 7 miles unless you add on the parks - then you can run 50+ miles The link below show the Gmap details of all the running routes. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1143701

I ran with TNT and ran all over Woodside but I have no idea what areas I ran (hey, 8 miles is a lot to me and I start spacing out!). But there are plenty of little back roads to cruise around on, usually shaded, and clear of cars and noise. It's definitely NOT a flat area though; the hills are gradual but they take awhile to his the top. Saw lots of dogs/horses/other runners, and everyone was super friendly and nice. And most of the trails end back up in the business area of Woodside so you can hit the market for a post-race protein shake!

Then once you reach the dead end with a bench, the trail turns right where you'll be trekking toward the airport, tall blades of grass to your left, the landscape of the hills in the distance, as well as a random bench facing the creek and views, with the inscription "Tranquil beauty. Water, grasses, & birds. Enjoy." I did just that during my run this past Saturday. Soon the trail veers to the left and slightly narrows, leading to the Lucy Evan Baylands Nature Interpretive Center (inside access closes at 3pm on Sats/Suns), with a wraparound porch featuring info boards about the salt marsh, flying insects, and the surrounding wildlife. What's more, the Baylands Boardwalk in the back allows visitors to walk out to the end and stand over the water for greater views and an even more serene setting, several benches along the way. The other parking lot for this trail is located at this end, just steps away from the visitor center. But I made my way back to my car at the Baylands Athletic Center, finishing off my run (less than one and a half miles one way). Nothing too exciting here, but the scenery of the marshland was soothing, the trail was simple (there's no way you can get lost), and I encountered plenty of lovely birds along the way (seagulls, geese, ducks, and more).

If you run out of real estate on the trail, simply start exploring the nearby neighborhoods off the trail. It's sufficiently hilly and I've only once ever seen anyone else on it. I docked a star partly for how short the trail is, but mostly because it's often hard to determine exactly where the trail goes. Once I ended up at the far end of a giant field, feeling certain that the trail must go in this direction, only to discover that I was suddenly in someone's backyard with no sign of the trail to be had. Reluctantly I retraced my steps and ended up running on the road rather than trying to bushwhack through the woods or zig-zag across open fields. Otherwise, the trail is beautiful and serene and a great opportunity for some exercise and fresh air.
