Had a Sunday lunch with my wife and a couple of long time friends and the Fairgrounds was suggested. Since I hadn't been there that was where we headed. We came early before the lunch crowd and were greeted with a hello and a smile and seated immediately. Drinks were ordered quickly and arrived moments later. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich, my wife ordered the Mac & cheese pizza, my fiends ordered a large pepperoni pizza and a fisherman's plate. The steak sandwich was loaded with tender shaved steak, however it could have had more cheese along with the peppers, onions and mushrooms which I ordered as an add on. My wife wasn't a big fan of the Mac & cheese pizza. It was very dry and could have been a bit more cheesy. My friend enjoyed his enormous fisherman platter which arrived stocked with fried clams, shrimp, scallops and haddock. It was so large that he shared some of it with all of us, ate his fair share and was able to take enough home for tomorrows lunch. His wife, who ordered the pepperoni pizza loved it. She shared a piece with me and we were both in agreement that it certainly was the hit of the day. It was loaded with pepperoni which along with the thin crispy crust, melted cheese and assortment of spices all put together created a perfect pizza experience. I'm giving this a one star only because our first experience was really bad but at least the bar staff was apologetic. Tonight, however, we sat at the bar, again. It took 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Okay. Maybe they're busy? Finally an acknowledgment, but not to ask what we wanted to drink. Just to let us know we're there and to be asked rudely to step away from the bar so that the server could spray and clean where we were. We obliged and waited. Finally, she came over to get our drink order. Our bartender on our side of the bar was horrific. She catered to the young crowd and wouldn't even look at us. By this point we had ordered our food with another staff member. Waited. Waited. Waited and waited. I reached out explained that my food Never came. They explained that because my husbands order was baked, it took longer. Once the food arrived, my order was cold to the touch! My husbands order was all wrong! Terrible. Still, okay. Shit happens. ‍ The first time there we figured, okay, we will try again. TONIGHT! We go in. We take a seat at the bar. There were dirty used plates from the previous patrons. That's fine, we just sat down. Which they, flagged us to take their seats and warned us that the service was terrible on "that side of the bar." We laughed it off. Well, I have to say, it was not at all a good experience. Shame on them. Bartender (especially one in particular) SUCKED. . Food SUCKED. Never ever going back there again! Can't wait to go back UPDATE 6/30: (-3 stars) we had dinner there yesterday and had a great experience (see above) so we decided to go back again tonight. We looked up their hours and saw they were open until 8. We drove a half hour and arrived at 7:30 and walked in and waited about 5 minutes to be seated only to be told by the hostess that they are closed and were not seating anyone else. What a bummer, arrived last Saturday ~ 6pm and was psyched to sit at the bar and have some dinner with my wife. While somewhat busy it was not very and was very disappointed the waitress (Amy) didn't wipe the bar in front of us nor for the person next to us. We shared a scallop entree and had to ask for a second plate. The food was average and the service less so. In addition to the above there was no "check-in" to see how we were doing, no "asks" for another beverage, NOTHING. It was almost like we were interrupting her bad night. Now we are not cheap and eat high end regularly. The prices were shocking for pub fare in the middle of nowhere Maine. The food was decent. Not wowing, just ok. Can't justify the prices. So a group of my friends and I joined this pub for dinner about 2 weeks ago, there were a total of 7. we let the hostess (who's name we didn't catch) know that there would be that many. she sat us down at one of the bigger tables that seat 6 and we asked if we could possibly slide one of the other tables over because we knew we were gonna need more room. the hostess said no and just slid an extra chair over, we understood at first. it came time for our waitress to come with our drinks and we did end up asking her if we could do the same. luckily she said yes!! now, the hostess walks up to the registers where our waitress is standing and starts talking about OUR TABLE. i'm not too sure what was said, all i saw was quick glances, finger pointing and glares from the hostess toward our table because we ended up getting the smaller table added to ours. all i have to say is the food was fantastic but the hostess but was and it really changed the whole mood of the meal unfortunately. During the pandemic and only pickup was available I ordered pickup regularly and I gave great tips. Now that business is back they have no respect for their customers. I complained that I had paid for for my pickup and I had to wait 5 minutes for the food. I was told to go someplace else. Yes I will go someplace else. You are not the only game in town. Brought my friend here for the first time whom I hadn't seen in over a year and our experience that evening was terrible. We arrived at 7 and told the bartender (guy who wouldn't tell us his name, we asked he laughed) we would like to order apps first and then our meals. Our apps came out, not once were we ever checked on by staff to see if we needed anything else. Not even another drink. They never came to the end of our bar, and when they did they wouldn't make eye contact. They had no problems being on their phones though..... Finally WE had to speak up to grab someones attention to take our dinner order. Well, the kitchen is now closed (20:10pm) he tells us. Oh?! Well we did tell you we wanted to order dinner after our apps. It would've been nice to know that the kitchen closed at 8pm, on a Friday night!! Thanks for the heads up!! Only then were we finally able to order our second drink. By 9 we were ready to leave, all the bar staff was too busy to check on us even though they could clearly see our empty glasses...they kept on cleaning up and changing music. We stood (ready to walk out) for about 20-30 mins before we could grab their attention again for our checks (mind you the people next to us had the same exact issue as we did). We proceeded to pay, it took them at least another 10 mins to collect our payment though. We left by 10pm! This was by far the worst customer service I had ever had here. I've been a loyal customer for years. The past two times tell me I wont be back nor will I recommend anymore. We had two burgers medium rare and they came out well done and dry. The BLT sub was a half burnt sub roll with lettuce and tomato and a pile of nasty deep fried bacon on top. We wanted a treat as life has been very crazy, and we have been very busy with work and family. I actually felt happy thinking that this town isn't so bad with such a great restaurant. So, being too busy to even make food, we sat down together for what we expected would be a great dinner together. The lasagna was good with lots of sauce. It seemed slightly underdone. So, when I had an extra chewy piece, I almost swallowed it! I pulled it out of my mouth, and it was reddish like a tomato skin- I thought from a slice- as it was extra big. I looked at it with my glasses on to discover it was actually a pretty big piece of plastic that was IN the lasagna- probably COOKED IN IT IN A MICROWAVE. I'm not a big fan of plastics and especially not of EATING plastic. I had been grateful they were open at 7:30 to take an order. They said get there in 15 minutes, so I arrived on 10. Looked super busy, and I saw inside that a table of like 10 we're waiting on food. I felt bad and appreciated how had the kitchen was working. The last thing I wanted to do was have to call them (while trying not to vomit) to tell them what happened. This piece could have very easily choked someone to death-old person, child, someone real hungry like I was. I thought I probably had eaten some, and all I could taste was plastic. This ruined the whole night. The first dinner we had time (made time between renovations and work!!) to sit together and eat.... I felt borderline to vomiting for the entire night, and my stomach hurt. I had to wonder if I'd end up in the ER. Not only that it ruined our night and dinner that cost a lot of money that we don't normally spend, but I thought my dog had gotten the piece of plastic and ingested it. She is a new small dog, and I had picked her up from the floor right before I pulled cooked plastic out of my mouth. I put it in the side salad container, and it took me a minute to gather my bearings, and the empty plastic container fell down. If my dog had eaten it and choked of needed expensive surgery, I would have been beyond livid. As it is, I called and they said come in tomorrow. I was the one to apologize for having to bring this up. No apology from them. And, going back to wait at this place- well, that's not on my schedule, to be honest. I got there early last night out of consideration, and I ended up waiting for 40 minutes. I smiled the whole time trying to make sure it wasn't stressful to see me exiting. I appreciate hard workers. Especially kitchen workers. Still, the restaurant could have credited my debit card from there instead of having me carry (into a busy restaurant past a large outdoor gazebo full of people) the lasagna in its container and empty salad container with the cooked plastic wrap. After waiting a bit, I had someone come to the window. I could see inside the closed window (after he talked to me) that the guy was now talking to the other, and they were both smiling like this is funny!!! Seriously, if this is how much they care that they could have killed someone this way, they are horrible restaurant owners.... So, the other guy gave me cash back for the lasagna dinner. No apology, just an attempt to explain why the plastic wrap was in my food obviously cooked in it. Well, I just felt that it's my responsibility to warn people, because I definitely do care that someone else could have been hurt badly or died from this. I have to wonder how many other people have eaten foreign objects in their food there or pulled it out of their food. I've only been here maybe 20-30 times in 4 years, and I have had a similar experience but nothing this bad or dangerous. This is not okay, and I feel bad for the people sitting around trying to have a nice night eating out with family or friends. Many months ago they had a hotdog pizza, they referred to it in the menu as coming with a "special sauce". I ordered the pizza and the sauce ended up just being ketchup, which is not something I would have ordered if it was labeled that way. I warned a friend in his own Facebook post about going there by explaining that situation. The next day I noticed they blocked me from their own Facebook page, not allowing me to comment or like anything. I had lunch here today with my parents. I ordered a lobster roll and French fries. Plenty of lobster and the fries were cooked medium well so soft on the inside and a light crunch on the outer. My mom ordered the nachos and dad ordered a 1/2 rib rack with coleslaw and fries. We all really enjoyed the food and friendly service. We will be going back. read more

I was so disappointed in this restaurant. I had heard amazing things about and how wonderful it was. When we arrived party of 6, I couldn't figure where to check in no directions out side and two different places ( I suggest you put the hostess out side ! ). I was told a 45 minute wait ended up a hour an half ! Finally we were seated and the service was OK not great so I was so excited to try this food in the specialty pizzas and we all ordered the small pizzas different ones and I have to say I've had better at Dominos pizza. So it was not a great experience in my book and would not recommend it to anyone else like it was recommended to me. I understand big crowds but this was not the experience I had expected. This was the first time we came here. Really busy popular place especially on a Sunday evening! Delicious food lots of menu selections and the portions were huge! I do feel however that you pay for these large portions. Also though it was like COVID was non existent. No masks on any staff we saw and most everyone was having a great time unmasked.
