Fairground Auto treats you like family! I've been bringing all my cars to Fairground Auto for years, and they've never let me down. This family-run shop is built on trust, skill, and genuine care. Lan is always welcoming and attentive. For our most recent repair Minh and his brother did an incredible job replacing my father-in-laws broken passenger side mirror. The price was right and for added value -- they even swapped the painted mirror cover so seamlessly that you'd never know it was a replacement part. It looks great! They are also very quick with Smog checks, I usually call ahead to check availability, so I'm never waiting in case they have cars in line. read more

Thank you so much to Lan and her wonderful brothers for helping us with our car. They are very professional, friendly, and do a thorough job on making sure your car is ready to go. We really enjoyed their car service and will go back to them when needed. read more

I once brought my car to this place for repair, Even though they fixed it, the problem still hasn't gone away and they're still charging me. I am very disappointed with this car repair shop, please stay away from irresponsible businesses like this one. read more

Customer experience done right! I brought in my Volt for some body repair work on 3 panels. I instantly received a quote and it was reasonable. The shop was open on Saturday which was convenient to have the car dropped off. They estimated a week and completed the job perfectly on time. When I picked up the car, it was sparkling new, cleaned inside and out. They did a great job with the body work. Highly recommend. read more

They do quick and cheap oil changes! I checked the oil level and filter (as I've had auto shops screw it up before) and everything looked great. Professional and nice mechanics as well read more

Outstanding auto repair shop. Lan and her brother Minh are very easy to deal with and are very professional. I had some major engine issues and Minh was able to repair it within a reasonable time and at a very reasonable cost (parts and labor). My car is running well and I plan to bring my other car to their shop for repairs. Highly recommend Fairground Auto Repair. read more

Long overdue review... I've been taking various cars to Fairground Auto over the past 10 years or so on the recommendation of a friend. Acura, Audi, Mazda or Jeep...whatever wasn't under warranty anymore...for a myriad of different services or repairs. I've always experienced courteous customer service as well as honest and fairly-priced work from this family-owned business. They're all nice people. I know I'll continue using them in the future. read more

New in The Bay so looking for recommendation for my car maintenance, this one recommended by my friend in SJ. Commendable service all inquiries been promptly answered. They explained in details the works needed for my car. Did not stay long , service time is reasonable and they surely do know what they're doing. Will definitely continue their services for my car's maintenance. read more

I was looking for an auto shop near my home. Lan and her brother (the mechanic) are so kind. Lan is quick to respond on yelp for quotes, we were messaging back and forth on Thursday. She was able to provide service details and a quote via messenger. I came in on Saturday at 9AM and they were already open and ready to work. I had a problem with my transmission and Fairground Auto was transparent and fair with their prices. They also took down my information so they have my car on file. I'm really bad with keeping up with the dates/mileage so this is great! Will definitely come back for all my services read more

My sister got into a car accident about a month ago. She's fine, there wasn't that much damage, and it was the other person's fault. But the car's 15 years old and it turned out the value of the car was less than the cost of repairs. After a lot of debate, we decided to keep the car, take the settlement money (and not fix it), and reregister it through DMV as a total loss salvage vehicle. In order for DMV to declare the car driveable, we needed to find a repair shop which could issue "Brake and Light Inspection Certificates". It was quite difficult to find a shop that does this since not a lot of them do the service since they have to be recertified every 4 years. I made a lot of calls to shops asking whether they do the service or whether they could recommend one who did. Luckily a yelper who was dissatisfied w/ another service told me about Fairground Auto. They gave me the cheapest quote ($80 for a sedan) over the phone, they're open on Saturdays, and were easily able to see me when I called. The shop is huge and very clean. The bathroom's clean and the waiting area is comfortable... I saw a wireless router, so they must have internet access. The auto repair shop and the body shop next door are run by 4 brothers and their sister who is office manager. I had replaced some of the dead headlights before the inspection but they still found some faulty wiring in the brake lights and a dead license plate light. I couldn't bare the thought of making one more trip to Kragen so just asked them to fix it for $30 extra (bargained down from $40). I would highly recommend them since they were up front about problems they knew would fail inspection and gave me a choice to fix it on my own or have them fix it. FYI, I got a quote from Eserini's in Santa Clara (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wLK7H5vce1eTm0ZGNLcfBA#hrid:1EcojQgmvPOswnMp8af2Ag/query:eserini) for $150 "not including certificates" M-F by appt only. Another quote from Safety Check in SC (http://www.yelp.com/biz/PS8xL1OdgfKJVj6E_VEIjw#hrid:gODuqhOqUHJyLRAzD47ylw/query:safety%20check) for $100 M-F by appt only. read more

I've been a long time customer as well. My family has been going to them for almost 20 years. Honest, trustworthy, and friendly people. I truly trust them with my repairs and they don't try and jip you. Unlike other auto shops, they don't scare you into fixing your car and making money. Only kicker is that they have so many customers that your car maybe in the shop for a day or two. read more

I can not thank Lan and everyone over at Fairground Auto Repair enough. They made a very stressful situation less painful. I own a 2005 mini cooper that I've only been driving for 5 months. I was driving from lunch when it started making all sorts of crazy noise and the power steering started to go out and the car started to overheat. I pulled over quickly and yelped the closet and best reviewed places and I am so glad I found this place! When I pulled up someone was there right away to look at my car. They asked that I leave it overnight and they would call me the next day to let me know what was going on. I was planning on walking back to work which was about a mile and a half away and they offered to drive me there after recognizing the logo on my name tag. I was so so grateful! I was able to miss less of work due to their kindness. True to their word Lan called me the next day and told me the damage. I ruined the turbo and a few other things. I called my extended warrenty service and found out what I needed to do. This was the biggest headache because they wanted to hear from the autoshop and then have someone come out and inspect my car. Lan dealt with the crazy insurance company with grace and took care of everything on that end for me. She kept me updated throughout the whole process via e-mail since I am not allowed to have my phone at me while at work. She even suggested for me to use Hurtz rental cars because they work with them often and she would be able to return the rental car for me. When it was time to pick up my car it was a very painless and fast process! I was pleasantly surprised that they had completely washed my car inside and out and even fixed something that was cosmetically wrong with one of the front plastic vents. Now my car runs even better then it did before. They went above and beyond the call of duty and I will be bringing my car to them for all services from now on. Thank you, thank you! read more

My family have been going to this place since the dawn of time. My dad love going here and just hanging out with the friendly mechanic. Everyone is very nice here and knowledgable. They are quick and can fix almost anything. You can ask for a quick check and quote on any issue before committing. This is a family owned establishment and not corporate. Chill and relax. read more

This place is quick! Upon arrival, I exchanged a few words and next thing I knew, my car was being taken in for an oil change. I have always had to wait for my oil change 15-30 minutes on end and it just took me by surprise that I didn't have to wait! The gentleman that I spoke to was quite nice and pleasant. My oil change only cost 30 dollars! This is the cheapest I've ever had to pay for one. This place is going to be my go to for oil changes! read more

Just called this shop asking about a brake and light inspection for a custom kit car that I've built and am trying to register through SB100. I was flatly told by whomever answered the phone that they couldn't [wouldn't] do it because the car hasn't got a VIN number for them to match against for spec for the brake rotor and pad thickness. Even when I told them that the car is based off a 1997 Mazda Miata, with 1997 Mazda Miata brakes and rotors they said nope. Of course the car hasn't got a VIN number! I need to have it inspected by the CHP. In order to have it inspected by the CHP the DMV requires that I have an official brake and light inspection completed. Not having a VIN is a complete crock excuse for not wanting to help a potential customer. read more

They know what they ate doing and their prices are great. Very professional and trustworthy. So glad we found them!

My car battery light came on and decided to try this place due to all the good reviews. Well they didn't disappoint. They diagnosed the alternator was bad and didn't even charge me a diagnostic fee. This seems to be a family run business with excellent car knowledge and customer service. The shop is also very well organized. I highly recommend this auto shop for most any repair. read more

Lan and her brother did a great job with not only diagnosing and fixing my car but their customer service was amazing. They went out of their way to make sure they left a great impression. My car was diagnosed with another problem after fixing the first one and they took care of it right away. They're very honest and had the best rates! I will definitely be coming back for any other car repairs. read more

Awesome Place. They do really good work for a reasonable price. Higly recommend them.

This was the fourth time taking my cars here for repair. This time it was a recently purchased used car that had a long list of things I wanted taken care of. The work was done faster and at a lower cost than I could have possibly hoped for. The work done was top notch, and the customer service was as always fantastic. My dad was a mechanic, and when I was young he told me that there are things in life that are worth their weight in gold, one of them being an honest mechanic. Lan and her brother are worth their weight in gold. read more

Ive been going here for my oil change since I like them so much. Their price is the cheapest that I know of for an oil change (w/no hook ups) and other services. Any buck I can save is a plus. Call them to get a estimate over the phone. It's an Asian-owned but they know how to speak English. LoL. I usually call them in advance to see how busy they are and I would make an appt, so that I don't wait when I arrive. So far so good. This place is a big warehouse/garage looking type place. They have a little room you can sit in while you wait. Give them a chance to impress you. You won't be disappointed cuz so far I haven't found anything bad yet. I guess, if you've experienced the expensive places/dealers and the mediocres...you're quick to judge. I'd say, this place provides good service, good deal$, good timing...overall, a good place ; ) read more

I've been coming here since it first opened up. Getting my oil changed, headlights fixed and whatever else needed to be done. The wait is always worth it because of the quality work they do and they're always reasonable. They speak very good English so having communication problem is not in the picture. The waiting room is comfortable since they have a big tv and the bathroom is clean. It's a very clean place and a large warehouse sort of type auto repair shop. read more

I got a referral to come to this place and the customer service is great and turnaround time to get back the car is pretty quick. I would definitely be coming back here in the future. read more

A couple of delays occurred, but the Fairgound Auto Repair team did a wonderful job making up for their mistakes. I could tell the mechanic was really upset because of the inconvenience that were caused. The staff is a friendly group and the mechanic was patient with my questions. Long overdue review but better late than never! I've been to these guys a couple of times and they're really awesome. They also arranged for my loaner car to be picked up from the shop. Great family business of honest and friendly people. Was hoping to experience the same great experience that everyone else had. Needed an oil change at a specific moment only for them to kick me to the curb for my car being slightly lowered. Very disappointed now I'm stuck with no oil change and every shop being closed for the day. read more

I went there for an oil change it they did a horrible job! Two days later I noticed smoke coming out of my car and thought it was over heating so I pulled over to inspect the car. However, my radiator wasn't the issue. I didn't know where it was coming from, so I let my car to cool down and drove home. I had a friend inspect my car and he noticed that the oil was coming out from the oil valve cover. All of the bolts were loose which was causing my oil to spill out and heat my car. Can't trust them after that incident. Could've ruined my motor. Would not go back. read more

I choose one star this Auto Repair and if the web has 1/2 star or something is worst than 1/2 start I completely choose for the Auto Repair, and this is a reason. on Thursday, Feb 02 2017 I drove my Toyota corola 2005 to this auto in order to change oils as in below 1) Motor Oil (Pennziol High Milleage : 5 quart) 2) Brake fluid oil (Quantities: 3 bottles - Brake fluid: 3 Quart 3) Coolant (Quantities: 2 gallon - 2 bottle - Toyota Coolant) 4) Auto Transmition Fluid (Power Steering fluid). (Quantity: Toyota Dexon III Transmission fluid: 1 Quart) All of fluid maintenance oils as above are my mine, I bought them and brought them to The Fairground Auto Repair to change oil for my car. By the Way, I changed motor oil at here in 2016 (Motor oil was mine, and cost of the service was $25.00). This is a reason I did not ask about the cost before I changing oil at here in Feb 2017. The cost they charged for me the above works as below 1) Brake Fluid: $100.00 2) other rest of fluid: $125.00 I can not belive that, they was charged me $225.00 usd for these works. After I talked with them, they discrease $25.00 dollar for me. Final Cost was be charged: $200.00 (not including oil, because all oils were mine). They did not work very professional, at least they should inform the cost of these works before doing service for me, and It was my fault when I believed them and did not check the cost with them because I used their service in 2016. So, you should be careful to bring your car to repair or using their Services if not, you must pay very expensive for the services which you can find other Auto Repair with cheaper cost than their service. So highly be careful if you use FAIRGROUND'S SERVICE In San Jose. read more

Went here at the suggestions of some coworkers after getting rear-ended. The people here are very communicative, honest, and trustworthy. They took care of everything for me: rental car, transportation, insurance, etc. Minimized any hassle on my part. Very reasonable prices as well. They fixed and repainted my bumper (its looks like a brand new car!) and even washed the whole car inside AND out - it looks as if it got waxed. Anyways it was really nice of them to take care of everything and make my car look brand new. Would definitely recommend for any body repair and I will be going back again if anything happens to my car again. read more
