I know doctors offices are behind because of patents or insurance issues so that was my only minor complaint. I was about 20 min behind schedule. Not bad for a doctors office at all. The doctor was VERY nice and attentive to what my needs were and my overall health. She was informative and kind. Turns out, she went to school with my old family pract before he moved away. Mind you, I've done this before in other cities and the black doctors have been AMAZING. But the difference with all the other black doctors I went too, they had conversation with me and showed their passion for their job as well as their passion to make sure I'm well. I'm a Program Manager at a health insurance company and my team job is to educate patients about their benefits so they know the importance of following up with their Family Medicine doctor/ Internal Medicine doctor / Primary Care doctor to prevent them from readmitting to the hospital. But when a doctor is cold and makes you feel like you're getting on their nerves, I can see why to this day patients aren't comfortable speaking up for themselves. Doctors and Providers have to do better with creating environments where questions are welcomed because the patient should be invested in their care because that patient is the only one responsible for ensuring they take all the action items needed! I personally did ask all my follow up questions because I know I am in charge of my health and following whatever I need to do for myself. But I did take a few notes to make sure I was able to share with the office manager the interaction I had with this woman as a new patient. I'm leaving two stars solely because the scheduling team was nice and the front desk staff at the Fairfield location was nice and did recommend I see Dr. N Brown the next visit. But do not book with her if ask questions and would like to be sure of the information you received. Do not book an appointment with her if you expect your doctor to be friendly while you interact with them. Do not book with her if you expect to actually feel like the doctor kind of care about the concerns you bring. Do not book with her if you're not okay with someone slapping their hands on the countertop due to your follow up question about your medication. It's sad to say this because all these things in the last paragraph a patient should feel comfortable doing. But I was told that is just her personality so it seems like patients have complained and but it is what it is with her. This is the service you will be paying for.

She again repeated her request to wait in my car, by now her reply was in a different tone of voice. I said to her that this was the first time that I ever heard such request. So I asked her if she have that on writing or posted some were. At that moment she became very upset and started yelling to me the following "Okay sir sit down anywhere you want". I told her that she was very disrespectful and that I need it to speak to her supervisor which by the way she was not there. Eventually one of the head nurses came to me and I explained the situation. She responded that thereasons the ask you to wait in the car was because of COVID. I replied by saying that the receptionist never said or mentioned when I asked why. I told them that they need it to have that type of request posted somewhere in the lobby area for people to see it and avoid this type of issues. Do not always to people to comply with such request. Bottom line receptionists need to be properly train on their job description and most of all on the "DO & DON'T of her position. Clearly this person was out of line. Almost 3 hours later my daughter was evaluated and prescriptions were given. Before I left I again requested to have the office manager to contact me. UPDATE: Today I was contacted by Mrs. Megan and again I explained what transcribed that day. She expressed her apologies and said that this particular receptionist was a filler on that day. I explained to Mrs. Megan that this type of employees are not good for their business don't matter how good the doctors and nurses are at that location, they will damage the business and their reputation. I hope that Mrs. Meagan can make the time to insure that their present or temporary receptionists are train and have a clear understanding of their boundaries and the "Do & Don't involve in their capacities to avoid loss of business and fewer complaints. However, during the visit, I was told that I could not be covered for an annual exam without coming in person. Since I live in Dallas and cannot travel to Houston, there was no point in continuing the appointment. What felt difficult for me was that instead of having my questions addressed, the conversation shifted immediately to payment. That left me feeling like money was prioritized over my care. I believe patients would feel more supported if their concerns were listened to first and billing discussed with more empathy. I have always paid for my visits and would never intend otherwise, but based on this experience, I don't think I will be continuing care with this provider.
