Kind of grossed me out a little bit. Another thing, when you live somewhere and work somewhere, you would think that you would have a basic knowledge of the area where you live. I was trying to find a nice mom and pop style breakfast or brunch restaurant, and this lady at the counter was clueless. She did not even know if her hotel had books or literature on the town of Marshall. If I had to stay here again, I would because it wasn't too terrible, but I would have to think twice, especially knowing there are other hotels out there.

First, it didn't have bleach wipes to wipe down equipment before and after use. This is a must in any hotel offering fitness facilities. There is a liquid sanitizer dispenser but no wipes to use on the equipment itself. Next was the treadmill. It's an older model but someone has pushed/worked the tread to the right causing it to catch and fray the edge of the track. It makes a loud noise and is bumpy/vibrates a lot. Management should fix this equipment as many people use it when working out.

Not many options listed for Marshall and Holiday Inn Express & Suites seemed like the best option based on available information. I used the direction provided by Priceline. It was getting later in the evening, and unfortunately, Priceline directions landed me in a residential neighborhood, not even close to the destination. The hotel was about 15 minutes from where Priceline had directed me to go. The room above mine had some people who walked with very heavy feet, so I heard every step made throughout the night and the next morning. Seems as if sound deadening material was left out of the construction planning for this hotel. Staff was friendly, and the free breakfast was decent. It's better than some and not as good as some other hotels. The parking lot in front of the hotel was well lit, and even though the hotel was at the every end of the street, I had no concerns about my vehicle.

No desk, but I didn't need one. Plenty of outlets. I didn't have any pets for this trip, but this would be a good place for pets since there is no space under the beds for an animal to hide (my cat is notorious for not wanting to leave hotels/motels to go back into the truck). Shaven hair was on the faucet (guess housekeeping missed it). The room smelled musty and the bathroom smelled worse (maybe old urine). With the graduation time so close to when we checked in, we didn't have time to speak with management to address or change rooms. The other two rooms were not quite as bad as ours, but gave indication that changing rooms would not have made a difference in "quality." Fortunately, I always bring my own personal towels, diseinfectant cleaning supplies, and gloves because you never know what you're going to find at hotels. Throughout the night I just felt yucky because of the stickiness of the humidity and the odor. One of the other two rooms also indicated they had that odor and flies also. The other room didn't give details but indicated that we won't come back here when we're in Marshall to visit family. So disappointing...
