Kind of grossed me out a little bit. Another thing, when you live somewhere and work somewhere, you would think that you would have a basic knowledge of the area where you live. I was trying to find a nice mom and pop style breakfast or brunch restaurant, and this lady at the counter was clueless. She did not even know if her hotel had books or literature on the town of Marshall. If I had to stay here again, I would because it wasn't too terrible, but I would have to think twice, especially knowing there are other hotels out there.

I called the hotel to get the charge reversed. I was told that the hotel requires 48 hours prior notice to cancel (apparently regardless of what the rate and confirmation state). They refused to reverse the charge. Very poor customer service and clearly a misrepresentation of their policy and rate.

I stopped while in Texarkana to use a go-to app for searching out hotels - Priceline. Not many options listed for Marshall and Holiday Inn Express & Suites seemed like the best option based on available information. I used the direction provided by Priceline. It was getting later in the evening, and unfortunately, Priceline directions landed me in a residential neighborhood, not even close to the destination. The hotel was about 15 minutes from where Priceline had directed me to go. The room above mine had some people who walked with very heavy feet, so I heard every step made throughout the night and the next morning. Seems as if sound deadening material was left out of the construction planning for this hotel. Staff was friendly, and the free breakfast was decent. It's better than some and not as good as some other hotels. The parking lot in front of the hotel was well lit, and even though the hotel was at the every end of the street, I had no concerns about my vehicle.

Getting the good things out of the way: perhaps the greatest part about this inn was the friendly staff and prompt service. My family were on a trip to Caddo Lake and unfortunately it started raining, leaving us stranded while not being able to do much at the park after a tour. Staff at La Quinta was very accommodating and had our rooms as early as 12PM. This I am entirely grateful for, and for the most part, our rooms were clean and organized. The complimentary breakfast was decent enough; they had cereal, bagels, bread, eggs, sausage, biscuit and waffles, along with apple juice, orange juice, coffee and milk as drink options. Definitely come between 6AM-9AM, otherwise you'll miss breakfast. There's plenty of seating at the dining area; if you need extra snacks or drinks past hours, soda is $2 and a bottle of water is $1. The not so pleasant things: while clean, these rooms are average at best. They did provide enough towels and toilet paper, but there was barely any soup (just two small bars) and the shower was partially damaged albeit functioning. There's no carpeting on the floor, which isn't something I'm used to whenever I go to hotels. The pillows were marshmallow soft yet lumpy and the blankets were too thin for my liking. The AC was loud and the mattress was too soft so I woke up multiple times at night. Overall, you get what you pay for. Don't expect high quality goods or service but expect the basic needs to be met at a place like this La Quinta Inn.

Fortunately, I always bring my own personal towels, diseinfectant cleaning supplies, and gloves because you never know what you're going to find at hotels. Throughout the night I just felt yucky because of the stickiness of the humidity and the odor. One of the other two rooms also indicated they had that odor and flies also. Before I could get half a sentence out she threw my ID back to me and told me there was no vacancy here. I was able to find the reservation information on my email and gave her the name it was booked under and she finally gave us our room keys. No thank you, no have a nice day, nothing. Rude for no reason other than maybe I was interrupting her lunch maybe? I can only assume based on the food stains all over the front of her shirt I don't know. The place itself is what you would imagine it to be, nothing fancy but our room was clean and decently kept up. No complaints there. Hire better help.
