We stopped here unexpectedly due to a vehicle breakdown. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. Coffee very good and available all day. Breakfast looked normal for this type of faculty, but we did not try it. We had other early morning plans related to our predicament. Pool was out of order as of this review : May 2024. I don't know how safe it is storing your car, as we did not have ours. An okay place to stay on short notice. We had our kitty with us and the pet fee was reasonable ($45/night). read more

I was somewhat torn about to say about this hotel. On one hand, the price was right and the location felt safer than a few others in Gallup. There was a strong sewer-like smell in the hallway of the 4th floor but that didn't extend to the room which, along with waking to a broken elevator was leading me towards a bad review. HOWEVER, they can't really help a mechanical breakdown and in my own apartment building we have a single elevator that was broken for two weeks. That fact coupled with the fact that two members of the staff came to our room and carried all our luggage down 4 flights of stairs led me to change mg perspective and recommend this location. I usually stay across town at Hilton property on trips through town but I might make this place my future choice. read more

Unplanned overnight stop, and this hotel in Gallup, NM did not disappoint! Pet friendly and amazingly courteous staff (shout out to Simone)! I called the hotel in the afternoon for a room that night; fortunately they had capacity. I also requested a 1st floor room having my pet with me, and Hotel staff reserved a perfect "end" room near a side door allowing me to bring luggage and gear in easily without hassles. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room as well as the lobby area for a 5 year old hotel; clearly they're taking extra care during this pandemic time but it made me feel totally safe and comfortable! They also had social/physical distancing measures in place, and a small lobby market if you needed to purchase a snack or beverage. While the hotel is very nice, there are other nice hotels for about half the cost in the area. Additionally, after we paid for our room, we discovered that Expedia offered the room for quite a bit less. Recommend booking through Expedia unless you are an awards member. read more

This was a AAA recommended hotel we stayed at one night while driving through New Mexico. We were carrying a trailer full of equipment, and we felt confident leaving it overnight in the parking lot. It's a safe area right next to an easily accessible gas station and market. Hotel service was friendly and they stayed up late to greet us at our 2am arrival. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the price was extremely fair. Don't hesitate to stay here. read more

Checked in on Sunday, May 10th while traveling. The employee that was on duty at 4p was quite in adequate of doing her job. We were assigned to room 212, see the attached photo of the view. I explained to her that we'd been on the road for several long hours with our 1 year old and that we just wanted to eat and rest. She told me no one delivered, which I found hard to believe. Once we got settled, I discovered Denny's and several other businesses were available to deliver to us. Additionally, upon disinfecting the room, I discovered we had NO toilet paper and there was an alarming amount of dog/animal hair on the sofa and rug. Surprisingly, a bunch of human hair was in the shower as well. When our food arrived, said staffer did not allow the delivery person to bring it to our door. Unfortunately, this seems like the nicest place in this town. We just needed a clean and peaceful place to lay our heads for the night. This is not it. Icing on top, it's just us and 3 other people in this hotel. She put us directly across the hall from the damn ice machine. read more

Hotel did not have my room available, clerk refused to arrange a room at a sister property. Novody called me to let me know they could not accommodate my room booking, so by the time I arrived and found out, all of the other hotels in town were sold out. And the elevator was broken. Then the management makes light of their screw up, and refuses to own their negligence. Worst Marriott ever. read more

I love that this is a relatively new hotel and they allow pets for a fee. We stayed at this hotel going out to California and again coming home from California two weeks later. On both occasions, the rooms weren't ready until after 4:00 pm and check-in is 3:00 pm. In fact, this visit we walked into the lobby and there were people and luggage everywhere. One couple was upset because they'd been waiting for 2.5 hours. The receptionist said they were short-staffed and a dryer wasn't working. It snowed 2 days ago and the driveway and parking area weren't cleared. This is probably the nicest hotel in Gallup. It's on the east side of Gallup and the railroad tracks are just across the street. I think the next trip we'll try a different route. read more

Jan 26, 2019 My return trip from Vegas at the half way point towards Colorado Springs brings me right back to Gallup. As usual the property is fresh, just 4 years old. Rooms are very nice and clean. From the closed businesses and just fast food chains I see, there's not much at all to do. It seems to be more of a stop over town for folks to recharge/sleep and then back on the road. I travel with two documented service animals and the property was very accommodating by blocking my room next to the side entrance (easy in and out with my kids). Be advised, this property does not allow pets, but they DO ALLOW documented service animals, which I always carry with me when traveling. Jan 21, 2019 This one night stop over towards Vegas was delightful. The lobby was very clean and a large seating area for guests. The front office staff was very nice and checked me in quickly. Room clean and well kept in the usual fine Marriott way. Breakfast was nice and ready promptly at 6:30am, the coffee was ready earlier, YEAH!!! The property seems well kept and plenty of parking. It's in the dead of winter so the seasonal outside activities can't be reviewed. Easy on and off access to I-40. read more

I could kick myself for trying to save a nickel or a dime when traveling through Gallup, New Mexico. I always cheap out and pay $20.00 to $30.00 less than what a Marriott franchise hotel would cost. I rode through Gallup and stayed at a Best Western last week. It was an expensive Motel 6. So on my return, I stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, and I was pleasantly surprised. Spacious, clean, well-maintained rooms and accommodating staff. Everything worked; the shower, television, air-conditioner, and I even got a smile from hotel staff, unlike at the local Best Western down the road. Being on a motorcycle and just passing through somehow makes me feel like I have to cheap-out on myself. Quite frankly, from now on, it's Marriott franchises for me since I already have their Bonvoy credit card and rewards program. I wish I had taken pictures of this hotel: somehow, I only take photos of the lousy places I stay. I should give credit where credit is due, with positive images as well as negative ones. read more

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel while driving through. Both times were fine other than the shower. The water is lukewarm at best. It made for a less than satisfactory stay. Other than that it was fine. The staff was nice. There are plenty of things nearby. If you're driving through this is a great place to stop. Walmart and Starbucks only a few minutes away so you can restock and get on your way in the morning. Staff was wearing their masks appropriately. Some customers were. Luckily we didn't see many people in the halls. If you are a light sleeper be warned that there are a lot of trains going by and they can be loud at times. read more

Be very careful here, terrible customer service, book at your own risk. I tried to make a reservation online but never got through to a confirmation page. I checked my email inbox and junk mail and could not find a confirmation so assumed that the reservation had not gone through. I ended up staying somewhere else and was shocked to find a room charge from this hotel a couple of days later. I called twice to try to get a refund to no avail. This hotel had the final say and refused a refund twice. Technology as it is, they should be able to verify that there was never a confirmation sent and issue a refund. I wouldn't stay here on the general premise of awful customer service. Unacceptable! read more

A good example of the newer Fairfield Inns, with modern decor and facilities. The desk and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet and nicely appointed, although the trains run at night almost constantly. The king bed was firm, and the pillows were firm enough to provide decent support. We were upgraded to a suite without asking based on Rewards member status. The bathroom was clean. The walk-in shower's water pressure was adequate, but not great. This property is located close to a freeway exit and Googleplex movie theater, but a long ways from dining or anything else in town. Inadequate taxi and Uber/Lyft resources in Gallup add to the frustration if you're here without a vehicle. These folks really ought to consider providing a courtesy shuttle for guests. A constant source of annoyance are the guilt-trip signs about reusing your towels, etc., to save the planet. Then serving the buffet breakfast on paper plates, with plastic cups, and plastic cutlery. Which must generate tons of landfill material annually at U.S. Marriott properties. read more

Stayed at Fairfield while traveling, it was pretty normal and definitely the best hotel in Gallup. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was fairly clean as well as the bathroom. Only problem i had was the mold smell coming from the AC, I don't know if it just needed to be cleaned or if it was just the filter. It was a pretty normal experience, if you stay in Gallup i would recommend this place. read more

Came into Gallup a little early than expected but could not check in till 2:40. Had to leave for a bit then came back at 3 for the normal check in time. The check in was quick and customer service was great. Got into our room and it was spacious , clean and at the temperature needed. The area is very safe and out of the way so that you can navigate easily . The workout room and pool are smaller than most Fairfield's that we have stayed at but considering the size of the hotel it works. The staff is very friendly and accommodated our needs. read more

This place is just useless. They put "energy efficient" refrigerators in the rooms. You have to turn them on and they shut off after 2 hours. If you enjoy pushing that button repeatedly, you'll love this place. If you need to do somewhere for more that 4 or 5 hours, you're supplies will be warm. I had to throw out $20 of food. This was a nightmare stay for 2 months! I was overcharged multiple times and if I wasn't paying attention it would have been close to $2k dollars, omg! I was told there was laundry prior to arriving, the machines were not running the entire time I was there. I talked to corporate office and all I received was excuses. I moved to the Best Western Plus in Gallup, great personal, and a real meal every morning, not the same at Fairfield Inn. The personnel were all nice. Yet nice doesn't help when overcharged multiple times. read more

(See my pic) Negative comments: - Elevator (#1) had a musty smell. It needs better ventilation. - Our room also had a weird smell. Fortunately I had fabreeze with us so I sprayed that to get rid of the smell. - My bed sheet had a few stain spots. (See my pic) Other comment: - Sometime in the morning, our room started rattling. At first we thought it was earthquake, but later we came to a conclusion that it could have probably been a freight train going by that caused our room to shake. We were on the 3rd floor. read more

Virtually brand new. We had a room with two queen beds. The beds were very comfortable, pillows were soft, linens and comforter were the perfect weight. Room temperature was easily controlled. The TV provided access to lots of channels. The bathroom was of decent size and had a shower/tub combination. Lots of counter space. Plenty of hot water. Very quiet. read more

My spouse and I rented a room from an online travel site for a fair price. Our business in Gallup was to attend a funeral and we needed a last minute booking. It was cheaper than government rate so we decided to stay here. We checked in close to 7pm to settle in before our movie next door at the Red Rock 10. When we walked in the room, it smelled like smoke. We opened the window to air it out, but it was of no use. So we turned up the heater and left the window open. While we were watching TV, the programming had parental controls so the only thing we could watch were ratings below PG. As you would expect, everything on tv was blocked. There was a code to unlock it and guest services was unable to access or bypass that setting. Apparently, the room was rented out before with the same complaints. There were no other rooms available for the night so we had no other option. We couldn't watch the Tonight Show or SNL or any other cool show if we wanted to. So without good tv and nearby late night hours places to relax, we ended up talking. Never have I ever experienced a noise complaint for talking. The walls must be paper thin because I could hear the next door neighbors having sex. Continental breakfast was a bust. Exactly at 9:30am when the breakfast ended, I was in the process of making a waffle. Before I could flip the burner to cook, the hotel breakfast employee shoved me out of the way and grabbed the machine and said, "it's closed! Breakfast is over!" Seriously, I was livid. At least I could have finished making my waffle since I waited for the person in front of me to make theirs. When I returned to my room to gather my belongings, I found trash hidden under the bed behind the bedding curtains. Not small pieces of trash but, full on boxed plastic pieces for toys. I was fuming. I didn't visit the fitness center or the pool, at this point I was not in the mood to experience any more let downs. Overall, the hotel had a large spacious clean room, beautiful decor, and modern style architecture. The negatives exceed the positives. I would stay at a Fairfield again...just not in Gallup. read more

We've stayed here twice. The first time was amazing! Extremely pleasant and helpful staff, super comfy beds in the suite. However, the second time we stayed, the staff was still very kind and helpful, but the pullout bed in the suite was horrendous! Woke up feeling like I was hit by a truck. Miserable nights sleep. Breakfast was par for a continental breakfast buffet, no complaints. But if you're needing to use the pull out sofa on your next stay, definitely ask for extra blankets in winter, and make sure the mattress doesn't have a slope in the center. We had an okay stay here recently. The indoor pool was great, the breakfast was pretty good, and the room was nice. The only thing that was really sucky was that the hotel is right next to an Army base and it was SO loud all night with aircraft going overhead. It's also right near a train track, so that was fun... I'm a professional "road warrior" for over 40yrs, this is the best place in Gallup. The hotel is clean, well maintained, quiet, comfy Marriott beds, soft towels, and the rooms have a nice work desk. I'm 6'3" the shower heads are nicely placed, so you don't have to be on your knees while using. Clean baths, with large mirrors and roomy counter space. Comfort height porcelain thrones. The staff is helpful, and courteous, their great. A warm complimentary breakfast is served, waffles, oatmeal, cereals, etc, etc. This is a quality breakfast, not just the usual cheap crap. Additionally, the coffee is very good. Gallup is a train town, get use to the noise of trains, if you don't like the noise of trains, go to a different town. This hotel is quieter than most, but you still hear trains in the background on occasion. It's Gallup,NM for Godsake, there are trains here. Only idiots downgrade hotel/motels cuz they hear trains in this town. read more
