I'm giving this establishment 3 stars for a couple of reasons! Pros: The room I stayed in is newly renovated. It was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The night staff was friendly. There is a Mediterranean restaurant that is phenomenal that is not too far away. Definitely worth it to try! Cons: Breakfast was just meh. The food was cool and nearly empty at 7:30am. My room had a light near the shower that wasn't working so it was a bit darker in the bathroom, but the light by the sink worked. That is an easy fix "hopefully". The main con is because someone tried to break into my truck and trailer. Fortunately they were unsuccessful because I double checked all the locks. Another guest was not so lucky. They had a large tool box stolen. That guest was filing a police report as I was leaving. read more

The much needed renovation is mostly complete after months of construction. Hopefully the heavily used single elevator will get a refresh also. The never changing scrambled eggs and sausage breakfast can get monotonous after a couple days. They do frequently add an additional entree of green chili stew with pork which is very local and delicious. read more

Promptly greeted upon entering the hotel front desk. Staff was kind, courteous, helpful, and very energetic. I honestly can't believe how rude the front desk staff is. I picked a room via the Hilton check in app. Thought it was great, however it didn't work. When I went to the front desk they changed my room and didn't even tell me. Moved me across from the elevator which is exactly where I did not want to be. Just happy it was only 1 night. Tony and I stopped in at the Hampton Inn at Gallup, New Mexico. The room was good Size but there was hotel issues from the beginning. The main lobby doors would not open they were broken had to be forcefully opened. There was only one broken bellboy cart. The elevator was old, rickety and scary. The entire place was not even a one star hotel. I would be ashamed to call it a Hilton. The room was clean and decore okay but the door would not lock properly. I was scared to sleep. I moved furniture in front of doorway. The bathroom was dirty. The previous customers dirty socks under the bathroom sink and black hair in shower. There was a snow storm so no rooms to move too, no other hotel close by and I called corporate...they gave me 15,000 points to compensate...better than nothing but I won't be back...NO THANK YOU read more

Our recent exposure to the Hampton Inn in Gallup was far below expectations. The hotel is mid-renovation, which left parking spots scarce and turning around in the lot nearly impossible. At one point, a large truck came barreling through and almost clipped our two classic cars--definitely not what you want while pulling into your hotel. The front entrance was closed off, and I could find no accessible entry for guests with limited mobility. That level of oversight risks both safety and reputation. Check-in was handled by Andrea and Angeline (based on the card they handed me), and neither displayed basic hospitality. Their curt tone and lack of people skills made us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We usually stay at the Garden Inn in Gallup, which we highly recommend, and where we have always been treated with warmth and professionalism. After booking two rooms for our party of four--part of a long-standing Route 66 road-trip tradition--we will definitely be skipping this Hampton Inn in the future. read more

Laura at the front desk was amazing!! My mom is disabled so we had asked for a walk in shower but there were no handle bars so Laura gave up a room that had a bathroom with handle bars all over and a shower chair. She went above and beyond to make sure we were ok! The only thing is I'd like to recommend to Marriot that they do a walk in shower with handle bars as well as handle bars in most of the bathrooms but the toilet. But everything was clean and very thankful for the excellent customer service!!!! read more

Loud banging doors, dog barking and sad breakfast. Use to be a nice place and fairly decent breakfast. Looks are deceiving.

This was definitely one of my favorite Hampton stays. I can't find anything negative about it. Check in was a breeze and the gentleman was polite. We were in room 210 it was clean and comfortable. Bed was perfect and I loved the pillows. Room was quiet couldn't hear other people. I know they were busy because parking was pretty full. Had a nice hot shower with great water pressure. The only thing wrong was it was hard to lift valve to switch from bath to shower. Had to wake up hubby and he did it but it was not easy. Breakfast was perfect, actually better than most Hamptons. Waffles were yummy and they had sugar free syrup which was appreciated. My guys enjoyed the bagel with eggs, cheese and bacon on them. The had greasy fruit that was yummy. Great breakfast to start the day. I would definitely stay here again when passing through. read more

I am appalled by their customer service! Their front desk is horribly rude! I travel to multiple cities and hotels every week. I have never had their front desk call me, (twice) complaining about my guests that are under my reservation! In fact, they are "kicking out my paying guests!" From their hotel!... my Very own mother!... Are you kidding me!? They are claiming that my "guests" are rude when in fact their "front desk staff" is acting horribly rude and "racist!" Denying simple usage of facilities of the public lobby restroom and making a big deal out of a "stupid pen!" Seriously!? You are a hotel service which should provide these simple amenities because what I paid for! You are treating my guests like they're some sort of "deranged criminals!" .... So disrespectful as these four guests are some of the kindest people ever! As a Hilton Diamond member, I am sorely disappointed at their poor management, non existent service, and lack of human sense. I will taking this matter up to even their higher ups. read more

First off, I only stay at Hilton Hotels being a frequent traveler. Positive. I found the hotel staff friendly and engaging. Wlecomed me at the front desk with a smile and great attitude. It is clear they are focused on customer service. Hotel rooms are dated but to be expected. Issue I ran into was the next day... I was covered in flea or bed bug bites. When I say covered, I am talking well over 30. Guys how can this happen????? I stopped here on my last night of my road trip from Rhode Island to Arizona. Tomorrow I will be in Arizona with some of my family who I haven't seen for a long time because of the pandemic. I have stayed in a variety of hotels on my trip and I have to say that this is the nicest one. I was so reassured when there were big signs on the hotel doors and actually all over New Mexico saying that masks must be worn. Also there were all kinds of social distancing limits in place. Only two people are allowed in an elevator at the same time. I had made my Reservation online and when I go to the hotel I realized that I had made it for Saturday night instead of Friday. I sat with my phone and canceled Saturday's reservation and I asked if there was anything available for Friday night. The young ladies at the desk were very kind and very nice. There were strict rules for social distancing and for not touching things that other people have touched. There was a cup for clean pens and a cup to put the pen in after you had used it. There was plexiglass between me and the people behind the desk. Everything was really organized and made me feel very safe. I went to my room and it was very lovely. The only smell was a nice clean smell. The room had a king size bed and a desk and TV and dressers and a pull out couch and a bench and a little kitchenette area and a lovely clean bathroom. There's a big window that faces out toward the highway. The only downside for some people may be that there is the home of the highway. I don't find that distracting at all, in fact I actually like that noise. In the morning instead of a hot breakfast they serve grab and go bags with fruit and a pastry in it and a bottle of water which is perfect. I definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again myself. read more

Disappointing is an understatement. I've stayed at various Hilton/Hampton Inns in the past, but this particular location is hands down the worst that I've even been to. This particular location can easily be compared to a Motel 6. The room was dated and dirty. Not only was the bathtub peeling, but there were stains EVERYWHERE. As if that wasn't enough, the sheets on the bed were incredibly itchy. My mother, friend, and I woke up with rashes from them. We tried to express our concerns to the front desk, but none of the employees actually cared or tried to accommodate us. Needless to say, don't even consider staying here. read more

9/13/22: Overall 1.5 stars. First off, I'm a Hilton/Hampton Inn fan and have stayed at some really nice ones. This location was such a way off experience from what I've come to expect from the Hilton brand. Out of all of the Hampton Inn hotels I've stayed at, this is in last place both in terms of the rooms and service (The best is Hampton Inn in Keller, TX. See my 5 star review. This location needs to take a lesson from their customer service). After my grotesque experience at Knights Inn (see my review), I was frantically searching for a hotel to stay the same night. Because this town didn't elicit the feeling of safety, I wanted to stay somewhere more inland from the freeway. We had dinner at Panda Express which had a well lit parking lot and a very nice SpringHills Suites by Marriott there. But they were nearly $200. So I booked this room through my Hilton rewards points for-ouch-30k points! It was about a mile from Panda Express. Location wise seemed ok, and the parking lot was pretty well lit and full. I ended up booking the very last room. The girl who checked us in was very nice and gave us complimentary bottles of water. The lobby was clean & maintained and they had sanitizing wipes & a 24 hour tea/coffee station. That's where the good impression ends. Our room was a different story. It was older, dated and needed quite a bit of maintenance. It was a handicap room, but if a person with a physical disability were to stay in this room they would have problems. The bathroom door was warped and you had to shove the door to open and close it. The shower was not working and when I called, the worker said there was no maintenance because it was night time. To me if you are a hotel, you should have 24 hour maintenance, because things can go wrong with the room at any time, not just during business hours. We had to go to our car and get tools and try to fix the shower ourselves, which is not acceptable as guests. The refrigerator wasn't working, and we did not discover that until the next morning when none of our items were cold, thus ruining our groceries. The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable. I barely got any sleep and had a pounding headache and neck ache. The next morning, my friend and I went to the breakfast buffet. At least this was in line with other Hampton Inn breakfasts. The biscuits with gravy were actually good! I also like their tea selection, but they need to do a better job of replenishing the teas. The worst part of the stay, believe it or not, wasn't even that our room was in such poor condition, but rather the checkout worker. Whoever was working the morning of 9/14/22 around 10:45am (female, longer dark hair, wearing glasses), shouldn't be interacting with the public. First of all, when I went to check out, she didn't even say good morning, ask me how was your stay or thank me for staying at there. When I requested water, I kid you not, this was her snide response to me. "just so you know these are only for check-in". Are you kidding me? Passive aggressive much? You've got to be a special kind of miserable person to treat a hotel guest this way. I've been staying at Hilton Hotels for decades and bottled water is provided at every Hilton brand hotel at check-in or check out and even during our stay! I've NEVER had a worker so rudely say that. Holy $hit, it's not like I was asking for a case of water! I was so annoyed, that after we left, I actually called the hotel to get her name as I decided I wanted to write a letter about our experience to Hilton corporate. I didn't want to seem creepy by calling and just saying hey what's your name lol, so I just asked what is your check in and check out time which she answered (so I know she could hear me) and then afterwards I said oh what was your name and I think she might've recognized my voice or something because she refused to answer me and then hung up on me! She was 1 star and I would've rated this review as 1 star, but because Hilton corporate apologized & refunded my points, coupled with the good breakfast, I rounded it up to 2 stars. I think they should've refunded me for my spoiled refrigerator items as well as given me some extra points for the poor experience. Now, that would've been really good service from Hilton. So overall 1.5 stars. Having said that: 1. I hope to never stay in Gallup, NM ever again. Gross town! 2. If I have to stay in this town again, I will spend the money and go to the SpringHills Suites by Marriott. Even though I am not a rewards member there, my friend went inside while I was on the phone with Priceline (see my Knights Inn review for background), and he said it was very nice and clean, but when he was talking to the front desk the cheapest room was almost $200 which I refuse to spend that in this grotesque little town in the middle of nowhere! 3. My parents recently were driving half way across the country after the funeral of my brother, their son.... and stayed at this Hampton inn unfortunately. They were told before hand that the elevator was broken but they had people who would help them move the bags up and down the stairs so they decided to go there. The night of, their was a nice man who helped them move their bags up but in the morning they were told by the supposed owner, or at least the manager on, that they should have known better and stayed at another hotel in the area and there was no one to help them with their bags. They kindly asked for her name and in response she pointed to a shirt with no name. They pointed that out and she replied with that's all you're going to get. I'm appalled that someone who is the manager/owner? Of the place to act this way, let alone anyone. The Hampton customer service says it's a personally owned place and they can't do anything but make a complaint and the hotel will reach out in 2 days. No response. So called customer service again where they said the case had been resolved on their end. This is terrible. Since no one is doing anything I'm going to try to warn people to never stay here. This is appalling that anyone would ever be treated this way. read more

Booked room through Hilton Honors, was contacted by Hampton Inn while already traveling stating Hotel under remolding and would be no elevator. Earlier on booked room number on 4 th floor not mowing no elevator usage. Called from the road asking to be put on lower floor due to two knee surgeriea was met with rudeness and disrespect then told they would cancel reservation. Asked why she said we would be trouble asked to clarify and hung up on me. Called back stating we were traveling for a funeral and had been traveling 8 hrs already. Didn't care said were canceled. Was traveling with other family who also got canceled also for no apparent reason. In a different town trying to find other accommodations almost all other hotels were fulol. In my years of traveling and booking rooms I have never been treated so unfairly and met with rudeness and disrespect!!!! read more

Receptionist forgot her password and took 10 minutes, literally, to get logged into the system. Hotel under construction and looks like a warzone. Elevator not working so had to lug everything upstairs. 6 parking spaces closest to the door blocked by a Penske truck when there is a sign clearly visible about 10 feet away that states no oversized vehicles. Asked if I was registered under my Hilton Honors, receptionist never confirmed. Couldn't log into wi-fi; was prompted to join Hilton Honors. The couch in the room looks like a dog has been eating on it. If it weren't so late at night and we weren't so tired from a 14 hour drive, we would have gone somewhere else. If I were Hilton, I would be embarassed to have this hotel affiliated with it. read more

Definitely one of the worst Hampton Inn's Ive stayed in. Hotel is very old. Seems to have been remodeled within the last 5 years, but that cant hide that this is an old worn out hotel. I got a "suite" but it was just a regular hotel room. It smelled of cigarette smoke and dog urine. Ceilings were very low and the hallways and rooms are dark and a bit depressing. The hotel is also in a bit of a sketchy area, Id suggest parking as close to the office as possible. I was worried our car may get broken into overnight. The good things are that its close to Highway 40, the staff were very friendly and there is a Cracker Barrel right in the same parking lot. Plus there are other food options, gas and shopping close by. I noticed there is a new Hilton Garden Inn next door. If I was to stay in Gallup again I'd definitely do the Garden Inn instead, as it looks much newer and in better condition. read more

Told me when I checked in it would be a bottom floor but 2 hours and 287.00 later and being told 4th floor was not acceptable. I reserved a room online and received a booking confirmation. When I arrived, the desk clerk said the system overbooked and I didn't have a room. He said that he tried to call us but we never got a call. Then he said he had reserved a room at the other Hampton Inn. He called to confirm but the other Hampton Inn gave my room to someone else. We traveled across the United States following Route 66. We stopped at the Gallup Hampton Inn on the way to California, and again on our way home. We stayed here for a total of four nights. There were many positives: friendly staff, good breakfasts, clean rooms, and afternoon snacks. The only complaint I had was with the hot tub. The water was definitely dirty and foamy. (I know what I'm talking about. I am a hot tub owner.) I observed the dirty water for myself on my first visit and reported it to a male employee at the front desk on May 23. When we returned May 31, the hot tub had the same dirty water! If not for the hot tub, I would have rated this motel five stars. read more

This is easily the worst hotel stay I'll ever have. Hilton's service is atrocious both at the local and corporate level. Please read on. You may have read some of the other negative reviews and one cannot believe these stories. Guests arriving to check in and their reservations canceled on the spot due to disagreement. The stories sound incredulous. But it happened to us too. Due to these reviews, I took great precaution when I came here mid November 11-13. I was extra polite and tried to go out of my to smile and be courteous. The check-in front desk were actually all nice. The next day when we left to go into town, the front desk smiled as we left and told us to have a great day. The shit hit the fan on our last morning here on November 13, 2020 when I called the front desk to ask for toilet paper. She sounded annoyed for some reason, but the front desk clerk on the phone blurted, "Housekeeping is on your floor". I asked her to clarify if she meant the supplies were there? The cart was there? Do I knock somewhere and ask? She goes, "YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN". At that point I called her out and said "That's rude, why are you giving attitude?", And she cuts me off and begins Escalating and talking over me. This is like ghetto high school cattiness that I haven't experienced in say 20 years. Of course that irritates me and I replied to her that "that is some piece of shit service". She then calls security and says I need to leave the hotel for HARASSING her. Is this some Joke? There's pounding on the door minutes later while my wife is still asleep. But no, there's a cop-looking officer with a chest camera, badge, and a gun in holster, and what looks like a prepubescent teenage girl who was perhaps the youngest of the staff we interacted with there. She had a crazy-eyes-look with a hateful scowl on her face (I'll never forget her childish stupid face). But they were serious. The security told me thats he told him I was harassing her, and that I needed to leave. I asked her to tell me what exactly did I say? You were raising your voice at me I told her and asked which part constitutes "harassment" With arms crossed she says, "You know you harassed me". So I just go wow and we begin packing and I overhear while they are outside, that the girl is thinking of calling "NMPD", which is probably New Mexico Police Department? (Crazy?) I'm going to call her the angry witch from now on. The angry witch left back downstairs and I chatted with the security who was actually really nice and respectful. The angry witch wouldn't even give her name, but I'll bet you that the other 1-star reviews most likely interacted with that garbage piece of a human being. You can tell she hates her life and is making a POOR career choice in "hospitality" to the detriment to her guests, her colleagues, Hilton, and her city. If she can't take a customer complaint and has to resort to ousting people out with security, in which she has a disagreement... it speaks volumes to her revolting character and she is going to continue to be a very unhappy person. Who else would make such violent threats? Unbelievable. So if you want to experience what could be a script for a movie like I did, then you should check out the Hampton Inn in Gallup, NM. Hilton corporate issued 2 complaints to the hotel, requesting a call back from management and compensation. No calls were ever returned. It's interesting to note also that Hilton's corporate complaint line has wait times from 30-55 minutes as per our experience. Makes you wonder what's happening with the Hotel. - Other issues that you may want to know: --- Loud container/freight trains every 15 minutes that blare their horns through the middle of the night (3am-4am-5am doesn't matter). We had ear plugs and it shot right through. --- High crime city per areavibes.com, macrotrends.net, and it looks like a run down place. Some review --- Good parking that is well lit right in front of hotel lobby but was always full, back and side lots are dimly lit and concerning for theft. We really thought that hearing our complaint, the management would want to hear our side of the story, but perhaps the apple did not fall from the tree. Multiple calls to corporate over the three weeks after our stay. Not a SINGLE response. In fact, corporate lost the 1st complaint call I made while I was being escorted out of the hotel. Hyatt would have taken care of this in 1 call. For what it's worth, as a front line health care worker, I work with mostly appreciative but sometimes angry patients. I work on the de-escalation team , and when a client is upset, you fess up and dress up. Make it right. Bridge the gap. Win-Win. At Hampton Inn in Gallup, NM, they threaten you and throw you out of the hotel. Literally. read more

The front desk clerk was very nice when we checked in. I have no complaints about her or her attitude whatsoever. The hotel and it's condition however is a different story. When we got to our room we immediately smelled cigarette smoke so we went down and informed her. She thanked us and made a note of it. When we went into the bathroom we noticed that there was a reddish colored area in the center of the tub. My husband tried to clean it but realized it was rust that had eaten through the porcelain. When we came downstairs the next morning (we were on the 4th floor), we noticed that the trim around the button was broken and the unit was only attached on the top. We were so tired the night before that we hadn't even noticed it. So, we told her if those two issues as well. The room wasn't "bad" just very dated as in they painted over old paint instead of scraping it off, the room smelled bad but the bedding was clean and comfortable. When we left, someone had smashed the hand sanitizer cover off of the wall in the elevator it looks like because it was empty. We let the clerk know this as well. It seems as though there is very little maintenance at this hotel and no one going around looking for damage or things that just need to be taken care of. I have always loved Hampton Inn's and this one being connected with the Hilton, I had expected for it to be of a very high quality which it was not. To say I'm disappointed is to put it mildly. I'm glad we booked for only one night and moved on. Also, the elevator sounded like it was about to fall off its tracks, it was so loud! Stay away!!! I normally stay at Hampton hotels and always enjoy it. Here I was giving a room that was already occupied. I booked a 2 queen bed room. I had a terrible experience here. I am a VIP with Hilton and Checked Into this hotel. The receptionist gave me my room key and explained the hotel was not currently giving bottled water or snacks to its VIP guests. I said that I had traveled to lots of Hampton inns during COVID and none of the others had stopped handing out water. As I left the desk I told her that travelers really relied on those bottles of water. I was not rude or blaming her, as all she goes is follows the rules. Instantly another member of staff ran up to the desk. I was walking away yo ho to my room. The other member of staff shouted " Ma'am, if you want water go to Walmart next door and buy your own." This infuriated me because I have spent Thousands each year with Hilton to maintain my status. I turned back around and told her that I did not spend that kind of money to buy my own (expletive) water. At this point she canceled my reservation. This town is 2 hours in either direction from other major towns and the Hilton brand hotel next door was sold out. I had been traveling all day and obviously need to stay somewhere. I was thankfully able to get another hotel not far away, but this young lady was not only rude but spiteful also. I have never had an experience like this one and have lodged a complaint with Hilton. Please be cautious choosing this hotel. I am not a rude or confrontational person. read more
