It wasn't the worst or greatest. The biggest downfall was highway and train noise. But if you had a room across the hall it probably was quiet. We were on the 2nd floor where the laundry room was. We ate the free breakfast which had eggs, meat, a DIY waffle machine, pastries, toast, cereal, yogurt, coffee etc. Parking was right in front. Location was convenient to fast food and Walmart, then easy to get back on the highway to continue our road trip. We noticed the lobby ceiling was leaking with buckets to catch the drips. Our room had a recent patch job, the spackle was brown and unpainted. Otherwise it was average for the price.

Our car got broken into in the 15 mins it took us to check in. I know this because we left the car, checked in, came back and car was broken into. They refused to show us video footage, because "our car was not parked where there was a camera". As well as a slew of other excuses. By the way, the camera is only located at the front where cars aren't allowed to park. And even if this was the case, we argued that we wanted to see the footage in case anyone walked by with our belongings. Management refused. Makes us think this was an inside job because why else would they be so adamant about not letting us see the footage? In addition to this, the handle and lock on the door of our room was broken. Very sketchy. Do not stay here.

Just ok as Comfort Inns go. The front desk people are lacking personality and there were signs that the cleaning isn't a priority. I have and will stay at the Comfort Suites on the other end of town.

My parents and I stayed here last Sunday night as this was the place that our tour group chose as the hotel. Yes, it is already prearranged as the travel agency always stays at this place. The room was very nice and large. The two beds were very comfortable. Very clean bathroom. The lobby was very clean. Of course, there is a business center and a breakfast area. Finally, this place is just steps away from both Cracker Barrel and Applebee's.

Overall a good deal for the price. Will stay here again when I come back to visit family. Stayed again 11/27-29/2017- still great service and clean room; good breakfast. Returned 7/20-23/2018 was greeted by Alexis, the lobby was clean and smelled fresh, our room on the 3rd floor was very clean and comfortable. Still a good breakfast, very nice employees and a great place to sleep. I have not had a bad experience any of the 3 times I've stayed here.

Noticed about 2 dozen of these things in the parking lot near the side entrance. I picked one up and realized they were needles. Don't know what there used for and don't really care. I just don't kids picking these up and hurting themselves. I talked to front desk about it twice they don't seem to mind. Other than that the rooms were ok.

As others have echoed, this hotel is a "mixed bag". This was our first time and also our first stop after a 10hr drive making our way to the east coast. With me, two dogs and my son. This is listed as a pet friendly hotel and there is a $25 per dog. Upon arriving, exhausted and needing to sleep, the front desk lady was kind of rude, told us our dogs were too big and we couldn't stay there. I was so disjointed having dragged my family all the way there and nowhere to sleep. I pled and she said if I paid an additional $50 for the dogs, we could stay (begrudgingly). I had no choice but to pay the extorted amount lest we all sleep in the car. On that note, I had a small trailer attached to my car and upon parking found several men who appeared to be near homeless canvassing the parking lot (and looking into cars). One even had a baseball bat. If you think I'm kidding, check out the attached pic of one such guy who kept circling my car on a bike looking at my stuff. I then notified a different front desk lady about my concerns with the safety issue in their lot and she smirked saying "I'm new here" whilst shrugging her shoulders. I got my son and dogs to the room and stayed with my car for hours to protect my belongings. Listen, the rooms aren't bad ...but safety is paramount when traveling. I'd avoid this place.

It was a nice room at a moderate price which is not easy to find these days, even in Gallup. Not fabulous but very acceptable.

A historical resort so filled with character, you will never see all of it. Cons: it's an old time hotel so buckle in. The elevator has a heavy steel door outside and a gated slider inside. The outside door is so heavy it slammed on my hand. Fortunately it didn't smash my wedding ring and nothing broke but it most certainly hurt. The rooms are named after old movie actors. Ours was the Jean Parker room. Her face was emblazoned on our shower curtain. The bathroom was so small you could (I'm not kidding) wash your hands while sitting on the toilet. Jean was staring at the toilet, judging all our "movements". No hairdryers (call the desk and they will bring you one) . Our room had a balcony with a broken chair and a two person seat. Pros: coffee in the room with real cups. Lovely, firm mattress and plenty of pillows. The hotel is super cute and there's an older gentleman who's like a greeter who's wonderful. The bar is great.

Unfortunately, the reality of the whole situation was a very different experience. It started off great. The doorman held the door for us as we walked in. The check-in lady was super friendly. Our room was connected to our kids' room, which was fantastic. The vibe was Route 66 kitch, and we even had a little payphone in our room, which was fun. The woman in the gift shop was helpful with cultural Kachina Dancer questions I had. Although, as I was walking through the store, I noticed a t-shirt that said "Gallup: The Indian Capital". I live near two reservations, and the terms used are either Native American or Native for slang. If the t-shirt had been in New York City, fine. But at least half, if not all, of the staff is Native American. That's a pretty big slap in the face to those employees. I even mentioned it to a Native working in another store, and he rolled his eyes and said, "It happens all the time, man." I know it does, but that doesn't mean this hotel should be adding to it. It seems tacky. I woke early the next morning from suitcases clanging down the steps, people talking, and general hubbub. I get it's a motel, and I was on the ground floor by the parking lot, so I tried to ignore it and go back to sleep. What I COULDN'T ignore was cigarette smoke coming in my door and making me choke. I assumed someone was loading their car right in front of my door and having a smoke. Furious I opened the door and looked outside only to find a lady 6 rooms down from me quietly having a cigarette. I was honestly surprised at how smoky my room was vs how far away she was from my door. To be clear, I was not seeing clouds of smoke in my room; it just smelled like someone was smoking in there. The lady was very nice and put it out immediately when she learned I could smell it. I inspected the door frame when I closed it and noticed rather large gaps where light and air were coming through. (That means potentially fumes are coming in and AC/Heat is escaping.) I mentioned it to the cleaning lady and she said it must have gotten into the vent and then into our room. Not a great answer either. TL;DR Cute rooms, friendly staff, noisy in the morning, and random smells might enter your room.

Polite and informative, and an example of customer service at its finest. The room was as expected. While the king size bed wasn't the most comfortable I slept well on it and was only awakened one time by the passing trains. The floor in the bathroom had some gaps in it, which should be addressed as they could provide a trip hazard. All in all, a pleasant stay for a road weary traveler. Travel safe.

This was the worst hotel experience I have had in over 10 years…read more Filthy bathrooms, breakfast area was filthy, juice left uncovered, no options for breakfast food, machines out of order, lobby smells like curry, parking lot had trash, blood on the interior room curtain, no tissue stocked, hair in the bed, no staff on duty overnight... every trash can was filthy. When you check-in, there's a man from India on a TV, but no physical person. I requested a room away from anyone above me, as there were only a few cars in the entire parking area. He put me below a guy who was making noise all night. The walls are paper thin, the ceilings crack like thunder, everything in the rooms is from the early 90s except the TV. I paid for the room through booking.com but the owner hard charged my deposit onto my credit card the day I checked out. The deposit was supposed to be returned within a couple business days but this thief owner from India charged me the $50 deposit plus something else. The deposit should've remained a pending charge until it was reversed. We noticed when we pulled up that this hotel was essentially empty except for an abandoned SUV, the owner's car, and 1 other car on the side of the property. The room was so filthy we didn't even use the shower. I provided a screenshot showing the double-charge. The booking.com transaction is followed by a hard charge the following day. I think this hotel owner does this assuming either people won't notice or people won't report him. I would also like to point out that I sunk about a foot into the mattress. The mattresses are about 5 years past their throw away date. Do not stay here, under any circumstances.
