This was the third night accommodation for my wife and me on our westward travel. We checked in at about 8pm after a long day of travel and this put us within four hours of our destination, saving that for tomorrow. Check in was easy though the rate was higher than other Choice hotels that we had been to earlier in the trip. The desk clerk was pleasant. We checked-in to room 207 and it smelled fresh and it was clean. A nice room is always welcomed after a long day on the road. The A/C quickly cooled down the room. The bathroom was clean and bright, an important touch in this situation. The bed was firm and comfortable and we had a great night sleep. The breakfast area was clean and well maintained and it was good to find a couple protein choices among the carbs. Though, I will add that the eggs looked a little dry and had been out for a while. Checkout was easy and again the AM clerk was very friendly. It was nice to be back on the road in the morning refreshed and with a full belly. Kudos to all the housekeepers and staff for a nice stay. Choice hotels is almost always a good stop. This location did not disappoint. Peace. read more

08/14/2025 UPDATE: Front desk staff unfriendly, unaccommodating, uninterested and with all the charm of a door knob. I strongly suspect the toxic influence of the manager Amelia. Will not be staying here again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: They're still having renovations and they've still apologizing for the inconvenience, but they do nothing as far as a rate reduction. Due to bad maintenance (lock was rotted through by cheap batteries), I got locked out of my room for 45 minutes to await the arrival of a very pleasant maintenance person. Called manager Amelia later in the day for remuneration for the massive inconvenience, and she'd be hard-pressed to be more unfriendly or unpleasant. read more

It was a nice room at a moderate price which is not easy to find these days, even in Gallup. Not fabulous but very acceptable.

It wasn't the worst or greatest. The biggest downfall was highway and train noise. But if you had a room across the hall it probably was quiet. We were on the 2nd floor where the laundry room was. We ate the free breakfast which had eggs, meat, a DIY waffle machine, pastries, toast, cereal, yogurt, coffee etc. Parking was right in front. Location was convenient to fast food and Walmart, then easy to get back on the highway to continue our road trip. We noticed the lobby ceiling was leaking with buckets to catch the drips. Our room had a recent patch job, the spackle was brown and unpainted. Otherwise it was average for the price. read more

Traveling and stopped here for the night - signs around the property apologizing for "work In progress" .. maybe a result of the "progress" but the door to our room let in lots of noise being that it wasn't a tight fit or weather sealed; the other residents noisily walking the halls sounded as if they were in our room .. and playing with their dogs in the hall .. even pulling a wagon in the hall .. the window shook from the wind blowing outside almost drowning out the sounds of I-40 traffic .. at 2am. Didn't get much sleep to say the least .. quite disappointed with this stay. read more

Our car got broken into in the 15 mins it took us to check in. I know this because we left the car, checked in, came back and car was broken into. They refused to show us video footage, because "our car was not parked where there was a camera". As well as a slew of other excuses. By the way, the camera is only located at the front where cars aren't allowed to park. And even if this was the case, we argued that we wanted to see the footage in case anyone walked by with our belongings. Management refused. Makes us think this was an inside job because why else would they be so adamant about not letting us see the footage? In addition to this, the handle and lock on the door of our room was broken. Absolutely Horrible, but everywhere else was booked and I had been driving all day. This is literally one of the worst hotel/motels I have ever stayed in. The beds were awful. Both had huge dips in the center with cheap foam toppers covering the worn out mattresses, which, of course, did nothing. The room was dirty and smelled bad. The service and staff were awful, except the girl who checked me in. She was nice. In the morning, when I told the man on duty about the beds and the room's condition he said, I don't care. I don't sleep on the mattresses or in the rooms." At least he was honest, I guess. Avoid! Stay away! Pay double for another better place! Stay any else! read more

SHANNON AT Comfort Inn in Gallup is the most frustrating person to speak to and so NON customer focused. We had a very frustrating situation at the Hotel in Gallup that we stayed in last night. We made a reservation on phone at a rate of $97.65 + tax and walked in shortly after the reservation was made. We were tired and just were ready to get off the road. SHANNON said she was the manager but I have my doubts and I think she did not want use to speak to the manager to expose her poor customer service and rude communications skill. When we spoke to her she was nervous laughing like what we were trying to explain was ridiculous and annoying. Then she was very combative and shady -never wanting to share her name. I asked for her name multiple times and she would never provide it until at the very end of the call and after multiple call backs to the front desk. I finally got her to agree to credit the amount that they over charged us on our bill but it was after multiple calls and a large amount of stressful conversation. She basically told me that we were lying about the reservation rate bc "her system said we were a walk in" but I had a confirmation number from when we called on the road. I kept asking her to provide me with the number her system had bc she would not allow me to share the one I had on record. Will drive through to the other side of Gallup next time to avoid SHANNON or stay at one of the many other nice hotels in the area. It is a shame that ONE PERSON can discolor your experience and want to avoid a nice hotel but he did. SHANNON provides TERRIBLE CUST SERVICE!!!!!!! read more

Even though I had a reservation for a dog room, they had none available when I went to check-in and was forced to pay an additional $100.00 deposit. While at the counter a dog room became available. When I asked for the $100 to be reversed, I was told it would be when I checked out. When I checked out, I requested the $100 to be refunded. I was refunded $72.87! Beware as they gave me a receipt stating they refunded the full $100 but when I look at my bank statement it was only $72.87. Will NEVER stay at another Comfort Inn again. Overall a good deal for the price. Will stay here again when I come back to visit family. Stayed again 11/27-29/2017- still great service and clean room; good breakfast. Returned 7/20-23/2018 was greeted by Alexis, the lobby was clean and smelled fresh, our room on the 3rd floor was very clean and comfortable. Noticed about 2 dozen of these things in the parking lot near the side entrance. I picked one up and realized they were needles. Don't know what there used for and don't really care. I just don't kids picking these up and hurting themselves. I talked to front desk about it twice they don't seem to mind. Other than that the rooms were ok. read more

As others have echoed, this hotel is a "mixed bag". This was our first time and also our first stop after a 10hr drive making our way to the east coast. With me, two dogs and my son. This is listed as a pet friendly hotel and there is a $25 per dog. Upon arriving, exhausted and needing to sleep, the front desk lady was kind of rude, told us our dogs were too big and we couldn't stay there. I was so disjointed having dragged my family all the way there and nowhere to sleep. I pled and she said if I paid an additional $50 for the dogs, we could stay (begrudgingly). I had no choice but to pay the extorted amount lest we all sleep in the car. On that note, I had a small trailer attached to my car and upon parking found several men who appeared to be near homeless canvassing the parking lot (and looking into cars). One even had a baseball bat. If you think I'm kidding, check out the attached pic of one such guy who kept circling my car on a bike looking at my stuff. I then notified a different front desk lady about my concerns with the safety issue in their lot and she smirked saying "I'm new here" whilst shrugging her shoulders. I got my son and dogs to the room and stayed with my car for hours to protect my belongings. Listen, the rooms aren't bad ...but safety is paramount when traveling. I'd avoid this place. read more

we stayed in this location with our Dog. we were charged 127.08 as a pet deposit. we had the room checked by front desk staff and cleaning staff. both agreed our room was good. When we got home , upon checking our credit card charges , we were quite surprised by the addition of the fee. we called and were told it would be removed shortly. 6 days later only a hundred dollars had been refunded. upon another call we were told 27.08 was a standard fee. Another problem: to go to Dog area you have to prop door open with a rock , because it only locks from inside! It's a fire door. Another door off the front door also had to be propped open to bring in suitcases. Not very secure! No other Comfort Inn did this to us. we will rethink using Comfort Inns in the future. read more

STAY HERE! Felt safe and secure!!! I was out on my phone in the smoking area texting around midnight. Security approached me (very respectfully) and said I couldn't be here. After explaining I stay here and that I'm catching up on texts he was super cool. Good to know that there are walk arounds for security! Clean place. FREE HOT and GOOD breakfast. We stayed here 3 nights. Our room had two queen beds, a sitting chair, desk & chair, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, blow dryer heater/a.c. & satellite tv. The stay was pleasant & peaceful & the facility was clean with friendly staff. They have free breakfast with your choice of waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage links, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, grapes, apples, bananas, toast, muffins, English muffins, danishes, oatmeal, cereal, granola, craisins, shredded coconut as a topping, coffee, orange juice & Apple juice. The coffee machine was neat. It had different coffee strength options & hot water. I love that breakfast is from 6am-10am because I like to sleep in & it gives me enough time to get myself & the kids ready to go downstairs without being rushed. They also have an indoor pool & a vending machine. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE- HEALTH HAZARD ACCOMPANIED BY RUDE STAFF!! please just walk to one of the other hotels next door, DO NOT BOTHER with this place! 1:30 am- woken up to the loud sound of a waterfall in our bathroom, worried someone snuck in and was using it. Only to discover a full bathtub covered in fecal matter and toilet paper. Sewage spewing from the tub filter. The most horrific, strong smell of raw sewage permeating through the room. We then attempt to call the front desk only to discover the phone isn't working. Running downstairs in our pajamas, worried that the sewage bathtub will quickly overflow, we realize the heinous smell has made its way all the way through the hall and downstairs into the lobby where it still smelled quite strongly. Although they had signs advertising that staff is present downstairs 24/7, there was no sign of any staff member downstairs. After ringing the bell hurriedly and patiently waiting for 10 minutes, we are greeted by a sarcastic, half-asleep employee who slowly strolled into the room from who knows where. He had no sense of urgency and frankly did not care that the hotel was having a serious sewage leak. He offered us a new room but when we voiced our concerns about moving in the middle of the night, he sarcastically added that "that's on us" for wanting to move... as if raw sewage spewing wasn't a valid reason. Not to mention the health hazard inherent in breathing in human waste for hours. 3:00 am- made it to the new room and finally get to bed 8:00 am- front desk has no clue about the incident and wasn't informed about any type of sewage problem. They have the audacity to offer us 10% discount for sleeping in a literal sewage room and a lack of sleep. Supposedly no one had the ability to file a complaint. They promise a manager will contact us later. I check the bill and they couldn't even give both our rooms a discount... 2:50 pm- contacts customer service regarding our horrific experience and to get a formal report made. Customer service is nice enough but still is unable to help us out in any concrete way. They tell us management will call us at some point. 3:35 pm- contacted local health department only for them to transfer me to the state environmental department. The woman was absolutely horrified and reassured me that the conduct was unacceptable and was surprised when I told her we had not been refunded. She mentioned that they likely should have quarantined multiple rooms due to the health hazard, yet we were the only customers moved. Was informed that both the health department and code enforcement will be found an investigation immediately. My biggest concern is that this establishment will continue allowing guests to stay in this room without proper sanitization. I can only imagine housekeeping wiping down the tub without fixing this serious problem. STILL NO WORD FROM MANAGEMENT OR REFUND. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH HOW THIS WAS HANDLED. WILL NOT BE STAYING AT ANOTHER COMFORT INN. read more

Nice room but we couldn't take shower because it popped off the wall as soon as we turned water on. Bath was too narrow and had a seat at end so you couldn't get a decent bath. Room was clean and bed comfy. Manager offered to to move us but we were tired and already aggravated about the bath we took. read more

Stopped here on a road trip after realizing Albuquerque was too far, so we called ahead and booked a room for the night. Since we got in late, some random people approached us in the parking lot which worried us, but in the morning we did overhear a security guard telling people to leave. Price was great for a room with a double bed, and we had a nice hot shower and clean sturdy beds. After doing a quick scan of the room, we found Wendy's chicken nuggets in our refrigerator. Free breakfast was also not provided, but it was due to covid-19 which is understandable. Overall we had a nice quiet stay. read more

After entering this hotel we left promptly. The floor boards didn't seem like the were connected to the ground and the were a group of 7 men starring at the counter from the second story. I like this place. Food in the morning is good and the ppl are nice. But the only thing is the pool was a little to cold for a heated pool. My niece and nephew shivered when we got in and they couldn't really enjoy it. We asked if there was any way to turn up the pool heat or even the heat in the room itself, but they said they couldn't do it. The pool was really my only issue with this place. But all in all it's a good place to stay. Close to a mall, a Walmart and several stores. read more

This hotel was clean and quiet and had a good free breakfast which included eggs, sausages, waffles, cereal. Score 100 on the breakfast. Overall the room was clean and decent but definitely in need of work. TV, internet, heat all worked perfectly and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom vanity was scratched up, the drywall cracked and the bottom of the door to the room looked like had been damaged and repaired with putty. This hotel could use an update. read more

My parents stayed here and the bathroom sink had wet paint all over it. It got on their clothes, and stained them. When brought up to the staff, they didn't want to deal with the issue. The least they could have done was offer to clean the clothes, after all my parents didn't decide to paint anything. I took a look at the invoice, and it said they were checked in by an "Ibegay". If I could give this place a zero I would. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Had to stop early in the day because I had a ZOOM class to teach. They wouldn't allow us to check in before 3pm. Wouldn't allow me to teach my class from the lobby. I told her I didn't need the wifi as I have a hotspot. Too bad. Couldn't use their public bathroom either. She kept saying it was because of "COVID." I told her I was teaching a class on COVID and their reasoning is flawed. I've had 3 COVID shots and was wearing a mask. She didn't care. I taught the class from my car. We checked in at 3. Told them we had 2 tiny dogs so she cancelled our king bed and exchanged it for 2 queens in a dirty carpet room on the first floor. AND she made me pay $100 for the dogs and they MIGHT give us $75 dollars back after we leave tomorrow. I knew I should have cancelled but didn't have time. People who had company affiliations could check in early, but not my company. No customer service. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth. read more
