It's obvious from your response that you're too close to the subject to see clearly. You ask "What could improve?", i would respond with everything. Get rid of all the carpet in the rooms, clean the a/c unit, very musty smell, paint rooms and building, bathroom area has obvious plumbing leak as the there's evidence of decay or delay, close down and start over. Needs lots of work. Had that old 80's motel feel so they'll be no lingering around for me. Turn some lights on then you too will see the grime and stinch of many decades before. read more

I've stayed here four times over 18 months and I'd give it two stars except for one thing: almost every employee I've interacted with has been polite (and often apologetic). Note to proprietors: that's how much your staff matters. The rooms are worse for the wear. Some examples: * The blackout shades don't quite close, letting in the early morning sun (which sort of defeats the purpose) * There's no safe in the room so I had to take my laptop with me everywhere I went * The bathroom seems to be held together with caulking and duct tape. Never mind the fact two people can't be in the bathroom at the same time and the door closes into you * On my most recent stay, the chair was stained and the walls were in desperate need of paint * I shudder to think what was on the bedspread. The gym is small but functional. Free weights and one bike. Nothing I could dock my device on. The pool is over-chlorinated. The breakfast buffet is ok. I like the make-your-own waffles but it gets repetitive on the fourth morning. The eggs seem real but the bacon isn't cooked enough for me. There aren't any decent hotels in the area (at least that I can find). Fairfield gets my repeat business because it's a Marriott and the people are nice. Otherwise wouldn't stay here. read more

With no microwaves in the rooms, two guests were heating up their restaurant leftovers in the tiny marketplace near the front desk. As they stood and waited, there was no room for anyone else to go in to grab a snack to purchase. I can understand not having microwaves in the room, but perhaps having one or two of them in an area where there is more room for guests to wait more comfortably as their food heats would leave space for others to shop in the market pantry. You can tell this building is older. It has been renovated but the old style of internal facing room levels ringing around an inside "courtyard" does not make for a quiet evening. It sounded like a big party was going on at the lobby bar. It was actually only a few tables of people who were not being rowdy at all. But the sound reverberates all the way up to the top floor! I am a fan of Marriott properties, but this is not one of my favorites. read more

Stayed here for only one night. This hotel has so much potential but the details about it makes me not want to be there. When entering the hotel, the atmosphere feels stuffy and like they are conserving energy by not turning on the a/c for ventilation. The room reeked of Odoban. I remember this smell because I use to supervise a cleaning company and I never liked the scent. Also the lights in the room were useless when in use. They were dim and very yellow, even in the bathroom. There was also cracks in the lampshade, and the bathtub had someone else's hair in it. Additionally, I found the blue LED lights that surrounded the TV's in the lobby to be thoughtful but a little tacky. Also, the scenic picture covering the elevator took away from the extra aesthetics this hotel has to offer. First unit was dirty - trash wasn't emptied - dirty cups on table, and there was a blood STAIN on the top blanket, which was covered by the 2 extra pillows (which I requested as a Marriott Member). I then requested another room - it went from bad to worse. Once I came into the second unit, I placed a few items on the table, slid completely off the table. The table was broke. . OK whatever. My husband sat in the chair which was under the table - well that was broke too ..the fridge wasnt functioning properly - there was no wash cloths - There was HAIR in the shower. I would not choose to stay here if it wasn't for my job and my company requirements. This is so pathetic and disappointing for a Marriott brand. Nothing but a hassle from A - Z. One quick example is this. Look at the room that they give me? Then the second room they gave me, doesn't have any keys? I can't get in and out except the hotel staff has to let me in and out? The front desk person Doug, says the key machine doesn't work to make room keys?! In short, it's a disorganized unprofessional hotel who uses doofuses. My family and I have stayed here twice. The staff have always been friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The property is in a convenient location with easy to access to I-40. Lots of shopping nearby, rooms have always been clean and beds are comfortable. This is an older property and has been well maintained over the years. read more

I had a great experience at this hotel. The staff are really nice, cordial and helpful. The open concept in lobby has an atrium feel of a quite larger hotel. The breakfast is plentiful and good options for everyone. Rooms are clean and bedding very comfortable. The indoor pool and workout areas are very much adequate. The location, close to the mall is helpful too. Great experience and highly recommended!!! read more

The staff at this hotel was very friendly and accommodating. However, our stay at this hotel was not the best. While the lobby has been upgraded and looks nice on the surface, the wear and tear in the rooms makes it obvious that this is an older hotel. There were small cracks in the walls. The couch was stained. Also, there was water damage under the sink and in a framed picture hanging on the bathroom wall. There was dust on the legs of the chairs and crumbs under the microwave. The crumbs were at eye level when sitting on the couch. Also, edges of the carpet were frayed. Compared to other hotels in the area, it is not as nice although it was about $30 cheaper. An investment in addressing these cosmetic issues would go a long way. read more

This was my first time staying here. It was just ok. There was no microwave in the room. The bedding & towels smelled like a smelly old man who just got off of work. Lol. (Sweaty with stinky cologne layered on top). The front desk staff was not overly polite. They seemed to not want to be there. The pool was extremely COLD & that's probably because they had the AC on the entire time. My bathroom had hair all over the place. It was so disgusting. We stayed 2 days & even after they "cleaned" our room the first day, that same hair was in the bathroom in the same spots. I wasn't impressed with my stay at all. read more

Upon check-in we were greeted by an extremely unfriendly desk clerk name Diana. She never checked my reservation but focused immediately on our service animal and proceeded to ask questions. If she had looked at my reservation first and greeted us with a friendly response that would've been what I normally expect and receive while staying at Marriott properties. I am a long time heavily traveled member, And typically get greeted with appreciation for my loyalty. There was no greeting of any kind even after she finally checked my reservation following her questioning of our service animal. I was never informed of any alternative meal kits which I understand from previous reviews may be available? I extended my stay by one evening and was told through my reservation agent through the 800 number that I could just remain in the same room. I came back later that evening and enter the hotel with no greeting from the same desk clerk, not even an acknowledgment that I was entering the building. Normally clerks look up from their desks and say good evening, she didn't even acknowledge me. I tried to enter my room and the key did not work, I had to go back to the desk and explained that they were not working to which she replied I must've done something wrong with them and put them against my cell phone. I explained that I hadn't done that that perhaps the keys were not working because the room had been extended by one night. She offered no apology for my inconvenience, gave me new keys and stared at me and then mumbled something which I could not hear and asked her to repeat it and she just stared at me, I explained that I didn't hear what she said and asked her to please repeat it and she said "I don't play that", I again asked her to repeat what she had said and she stared at me and said ma'am I don't play that in a louder voice. I'm giving 4 stars only because I have stayed here many times and had no problems. Today on the other hand I am welcomed by not the brightest front clerk. She didn't offer me my points or gift (I'm a platinum member). The wifi isn't working (I'm making this review without it). Other than that I have had nothing but good experiences here. BEWARE!! Cockroach infested!! My family stayed at this hotel mid-June for a family reunion of sorts. The first night, as my mom and I were getting ready for bed, I watched a cockroach crawl up her bed (with her in it!). We should have left then, but I called down to the front desk and we were moved to another floor. I never slept well because I worried what was lurking when we turned off the lights. Then throughout the weekend, I learned of two other families that experienced the same thing, ON DIFFERENT FLOORS. Absolutely disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE! I am giving this hotel three stars for multiple reasons. I was staying in town with my family for a week, so we wanted connecting rooms. Our first impression was quite positive...until we moved into the second room. It stunk smelling of sweat. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get two more connecting rooms. We settled for two rooms next two each other on the 5th floor. We then decided to swimming in the pool. While, it was quite small we enjoyed it. The next day, I really wanted microwave popcorn, so we drove across the street to the Target and picked some up. Only to come back and find out that microwaves are only in the suites. The only other microwave is in the lobby. Upset, I decided to make some hot chocolate with the packets we bought at Target. I tried using the Mr. Coffee coffee machine, to get some hot water. The directions on the top were very confusing. Luckily, with some help I did end up getting it to work. The overall service in this hotel were all right. They said hello and goodbye, entering and leaving but asking a simple question resulted in a quick and uninterested answer. The complimentary breakfast in the morning wasn't very satisfactory. The bacon tasted fake and the waffles weren't very good. It was a "make your own mini waffles" type thing. It was very trial and error. You have to use a cup to get the waffle batter and you can't fill up the "waffle cup" (on the skillet) all the way or it will overflow. Apart from that the waffles didn't taste very good. Even with syrup! The best things about this hotel, in my opinion, is that there is a Chick-Fil-A, Target, and a small town center. I hope this helps you! read more

Hotel General Manager will not call Guests with concerns about their stay, even though I was told she would call me. Stayed in September, the hotel was having problems with their room entry systems. We continued to have problems through out our stay, sometimes it would take us 15 tries to open the door. The tub drain was broken, no tv remote in our room and when you turned on the tv, it would show on screen you had turned to nbc, but actually it was cbs. Instead of calling me, she sent me an email, saying the problems with opening my door were my fault, her staff were able to open our door every time the first time they tried, which wasn't true, because the night we checked in the manager had to bring a special machine up to open the door lock. Why am I writing this review, because of the poor response to a customer. I was told I would receive a call from, instead just an email with incorrect information and blaming everyone else. This isn't the first review mentioning the General Manager has not handle customer concerns, will delegate to someone else or ignore. Any issue i have ever experienced has been dealt with quickly, promptly, and they have exceeded my expectations. I would have to say I was truly disappointed with this hotel. I've been to many Fairfield inn and this has to be the worst. I found four bugs in my room and all they could do is switch my room. I stay frequently for work because of its location to my work. The Pros: excellent customer service and wonderful location. Free wifi, breakfast a pool and gym, and plenty of lobby space and bar in lobby. Rooms have work spaces and a fridge for storage. The cons: my rooms have never felt totally clean to my liking and have a strange urine-like smell, which I think might just be the newer carpets. I'm sensitive to smells. Bathrooms always feel like they need a good scrubbing of floors, behind toilet, but bowl and sink are clean. The large open atrium center makes for a crazy noisy environment when there's activity and is very disruptive. There is no food option in the hotel other than some assorted snacks. Overall a decent hotel. And the staff really are exceptional. read more

Both air conditioning units in our home had coils bust. We are at the mercy of ARS and the new parts coming in. We live in Durham and booked a room here. The staff is amazing and helpful. They even let us book through tomorrow, and if we get good news, will cancel tomorrow without charge. I don't have points with Marriott and came in as a completely new guest. Room, towels, pillows are great! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting from out of town or a local that needs to stay close to home. read more

STOP Go Across the street to the HYATT, much better rooms (100% better). and service. trust me stayed at the Fairfield for a month and it was the pits, Exercise equipment doesn't work it is always broken, the rooms have wall air and heat equipment very noisy, the bar tender (homeless man) isn't allowed to handle money so he has to take your money or credit card to the front desk to make the transaction, (they are too cheap to install a Cash register) the breakfast starts at 6:30 more like 7am, not like most hotels in the area that start at 6am. And to ask for help, management make a big Sie and does nothing, the elevator was broken for over a week, they were too cheap to fix it. I could go on and on, do yourself a favor and look else where. Please there are many hotels in the area just as inexpensive and have much better service STOP!!!! Forgot to tell you, I buy food bring back to room and the cleaning people take it and eat it, I lost 100$ in food I wanted to save for dinner next day and management did nothing, they don't change the sheets or pillow cases unless you ask, this is very bad..... read more

I was told my glasses were not there even though I brought them in during my stay and went no where else with them. The furniture was stained as well. This used to be another hotel chain...maybe a 4 Points? Anyways, I don't really remember,but it wasn't that rad. Marriott recently acquired and renovated this property, and it's a ton better. First off, its within walking distance to my friend's house, so that's awesome. Secondly, it's in a great neighborhood, not too far off the highway. There's a Chickfila next door, a burger joint across the street and the Target is just a little further down the road. This is the first Fairfield I've stayed in with a bar. They also have a very nice 24/7 coffee/tea/water setup downstairs like the Hampton Inns (aka my home). The room was super clean, the bed was comfy, the elevator quick...and the price was right (less than $100 per night). I didn't eat breakfast here (I mean chicken biscuits within walking distance?!) but they do have a nice complimentary breakfast like most Fairfields. Impressive, and I will be back! read more

This place will get you and OVER charge your card. As a Marriott employee if they treat me like this it can happen to anyone. I had a room booked under my associates rate($39) and the guy at the front desk said they were SOLD OUT and he would give me a walk letter to stay across the street at another location that they will PAY for. Two weeks later my card was hit for $180. When I called to ask about charges they acted as if they didn't know anything about a walk letter and my reservation had mysteriously disappeared from there system.
