I was taking my client for a walk alongside the shopping plaza. He stopped by the store and asked the owner for advice on installing lighting fixtures as the client had previously been an electrician. Despite my client having vision difficulties, the owner explained his advice in a manner that was highly understandable to the client. Furthermore, the cashier Yvette was very prompt and friendly in ringing up my order. read more

this hardware store is the place to go for anything out of the ordinary.they have items from the homes that were built years ago. always helpful and knowledgeable. visit local businesses read more

So helpful and convenient! They have everything you need in one stop. Support small businesses!

And a second great experience. I have taken the key of our 2000 Ford Focus to Lowes, Home Depot and ACE and True Value and none of them could read it and replicate it. Ford wants $120 for this pleasure! Today whilst in Fairfax for something else, I remembered that I needed a spare made and asked them. 5 minutes later and for only $60, left there with a perfectly working replica . Thank you read more

This a throwback to the old time neighborhood hardware store when they carried odd items and catered to the customer who is doing a one time repair and needed some advice. For example, I needed about 3 ft of 14/2 electrical cable and they sell it by the foot off a reel. Everywhere else I would have had to by a minimum of 25 ft in a package. I go over 1/2 hour out of my way and pass by the big box hardware stores just to go to this store. read more

For a tiny hardware store in a strip mall, Fairfax Hardware has a terrific array of merchandise. I've gone in about a dozen times for a specific product, and only once did they fail to have it (an odd-sized light bulb, which I later discovered even the local lighting supply stores didn't carry). Fairfax's best feature is its service. Invariably, someone asks (in a genuinely nice way) what I'm looking for, then helps me locate it. Since I'm usually buying low-priced items, I'm impressed by the amount of time and care they devote to helping me. This place is an old-fashioned gem in a world of soulless big-box monstrosities. Shop with the little guy! read more

I love this hardware store. Staff is wonderful, polite and very helpful. Best customer service. The store is clean and very organized.

Not much I can say about Fairfax Hardware - it's the last of the independent, family-owned hardware stores, and I'm glad they're still around! The best thing about it is that Fairfax Hardware has been around since the Fairfax neighborhood was built, and sometimes, they have original parts/hardware from that time. They disappear into that back room and magically return with the item you need - fantastic. The service is friendly and helpful, and they have a great variety of items in the store. I usually go there to see if they have something before I head to the I try the mega stores. You may pay a tiny bit more, but the quality and personalized service is well worth it! Great place! Buy local! read more

Exactly like all of the other reviews on here: incredibly friendly staff and helpful. I went to Home Depot nearby to have a key copied, and they had no idea how to copy the key I brought it (was a pretty standard house key.....) Came here, and the other man (probably the owner) was funny, friendly, and copied it in minutes. Definitely going back to this place for any hardware/home needs read more

I was looking for some flanges for a shower and bath faucet that I couldn't find anywhere else including the large hardware stores. I was told to try this store, I have never been there before. It's not as big as the other store, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in service and personality... I observed the young staff helping customers and they were all willing to please and very helpful... They were polite, friendly, they said please, thank you and make me feel like my business was appreciated... I was helped by a fellow called Stefan... He searched and searched for the items I was looking for and wouldn't give up... He went as far as to cut a length of pipe fitting to the perfect size... I will definitely shop there again... read more

The small brick and mortar hardware stores are always the best and Fairfax is above and beyond. Everyone is knowledgeable (embarassingly even the kids less than half my age!) but always helpful and friendly. You may pay a bit more for some things but if you value service and local businesses, please try Fairfax before the big box home center stores. The folks at Fairfax are always honest and helpful. AWESOME AWESOME hardware store. One of the best, if not 'THE BEST' hardware store I've ever been to in my 54 years on this planet ! Great, personal customer service. VERY friendly staff ! Basically, they have everything your heart desires. read more

THE BEST store of any kind in Wilmington period - the finest customer service - staff is tremendously helpful and knowledgeable and there are plenty of them to help you find things - for anything from a bathroom repair to a watch battery there is no better store for any home improvement or maintenance project - have been loyal customer for over 20 years read more

Great old school mom-n-pop hardware store. Staff is VERY friendly and the sales people (mostly kids) even dress up in ties. Classy. You can tell they care about doing a good job here and pride themselves on serving the community, two things that are pretty unheard of in the day of corporate store mentality (i.e., who cares about the customer). I find I will go here over Lowes or Home Depot just to support them. Prices are reasonable/comparable to chain stores. read more

Needed a key copied and figured I'd get it done at Lowe's while I was up that way, but they didn't have the proper size key. I asked the man at Lowe's if he had any suggestions and he mentioned Fairfax Hardware. So glad he did! What a nice bunch of people! From the young men , (dressed so nicely in their shirts and ties!) who helped me with the key, to the lovely woman at the register, there was nothing but kind/polite interactions all around me. I wish I had more hardware needs, but will be sure to stop in there again when I do. Great job Fairfax Hardware!! read more

The customer service here cannot be compared!!!! Excellent!!!!! They are great people who go above and beyond!!!! I'm never going to Home Depot or Lowes again!!! read more

Went in because everywhere kept telling me they couldnt copy the physical key for my smart key system in my Toyota Highlander yet Fairfax Hardware was able to. Love them read more

These folks are great. They came up with a great solution and did the fix when they didn't have the part I needed. Good old-fashioned service with a smile. Support a local business that has people who care and use their brains. read more

I have been going to this hardware store for about 5 years. The store always has a good selection of merchandise. The main reason to go there is the customer service. They are a shining beacon of all that is great about small business. Go there, you won't be sorry. read more

I used to come here with my Dad a long long time ago (50+ years). They still have much of the same layout and range of selection (a good thing). They don't have a massive store but you can find what you need along with advice and real service. In and out in 5 minutes with just what you need. Great people and the prices are reasonable. read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember and for good reason. Everyone in the store us very helpful and will find out an answer if they don't know it. No sending you to aisle 34 disappearing to avoid you here. All of their recommendations have been on point and this is alway my first stop. read more

This tiny hole-in-the-wall store has everything I've ever needed. I don't know how they pack such an inventory into such a small place, but they do..... And everyone that works there knows exactly where everything is. It reminds me of the hardware stores I went to with my father as a child. Lovely people, great store! read more

Fairfax Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Wilmington, Delaware

This place has been around since I lived in Fairfax as a little girl (much longer, actually)! It's a great local place with charm, a good inventory and customer service that is exceptional. I went to the store to make a purchase while I was back in town visiting my family and was not disappointed! I wish there were more stores like Fairfax Hardware! read more

Very helpful staff. So much nicer than the big box stores..wish there were more like it around!

Use them for key reproduction, and you'll never have a 'bad' copy again. That's probably all I can share that hasn't already been shared. They are friendly, helpful without crowding you, and they have so much in such a small place! Some of the employees are young persons, but they are clearly well oriented and polite. Love thiss place and always recommend it to everyone. read more

Riley is such a knowledgeable and helpful employee. I love Fairfax hardware, the employees always are they to help with what you need.

Staff is very helpful. They have a variety of things. Great if you are in a hurry and don't feel like running into the big box stores.

On a scale of five stars, I would ALWAYS rate Fairfax Hardware at least eight or ten stars! They are THAT great! I "discovered" them twenty years ago when I bought a house in the area. Going there for my needs is like going to the old hardware stores I can remember going to with my father eons ago, where the emphasis was on service - I can count on maybe two fingers the number of times over the past two decades that Art's people didn't have what I needed. I have times where I brought something in that I couldn't figure out how to fix and they took the time to take care of it and literally only charge me the $1.26 or so for the few pieces they used! Yes, I occasionally go to the giant box stores but every time I do, I look around in wonderment at why I am there! And in a addition to being an excellent local shop to be supported, the owner regularly hires local high school students to work in the shop and teach them the importance of offering customers great service rather than a simply wave of the hand and a vague "it's over there" gesture when you ask for help! If you are anywhere CLOSE to Fairfax Hardware, this is definitely where you want to go! read more

My family has been going here for longer than I can remember. The staff is unbelievably helpful, and really go out of their way for you. There is also a gumball machine that I believe costs 10 cents per gumball. Not sure if it's still there, but whenever my dad would come here for hardware, I always came for the gumballs :) This is the kind of establishment that we NEED to support; why go to some chain when you could patronize your local hardware store, where the owner knows you? read more

I've lived here since 1961. Fairfax Hardware has everything and anything you need and a staff that knows what they are talking about. If you need help finding something, they don't just point to where you should go, they walk you to it, ask if that is what you wanted and if you need more help. The place is great. Where else could you go to get such knowledgeable and helpful service? Phyllis S read more
