NORTHWELL HEALTH - STARS REHABILITATED 1554 Northern Blvd…read more FL 4 Manhasset, NY 11030 516 627 8470 THANK YOU. PT - HELEN May 11 2023 @ 11am King (security) again saying hello walking in. Got to the 4th floor and all smiles from the ladies. Jesenia (PSA), Shaquera(PSA), Arlene(PSA), Erin & Kelley. Another session that went amazingly well. This time I was with Helen - PT. Christina Maria Velez my regular PT was on vacation in Portugal. (Refused to take me) During my session I'm always given numerous exercises. It's never just the PT Helen or my regular PT Christina Maria Velez that's involved. Other staff members come by. Danielle (therapy aide), Danielle(physical therapy aide), Katherine (therapy aide), by saying hello. Asking are you okay? Sometimes Matt (therapy aide) and Jechar (therapy aide). This session with Helen (PT) I get started on the cycle machine. Teresa was by me asking how I was. I told her her name is easy to remember for I watch Real Housewives of NJ. LOL. Great time once again. The entire staff truly cares. Making small talk. Just an all around amazing experience I have had every time. Everyone definitely makes you feel very cared for. MUCH APPRECIATED

I've been going here for PT for almost 15 years. I had 4 breaks in my spine, as well as a broken…read morehip, broken arm & shoulder, broken knee, & 4 broken ribs. I originally went to PT for the spinal cord issues. I was given stem treatments & exercises to do at home as well as in the gym. I eventually got treatments for the other issues, one by one, after each surgery. One day while at the gym, my PT therapist, Jennifer L., left me in the hands of Carol, one of the helpers while she took a break. Carol was supposed to go on break at 10:30AM until 10:45AM. It was already 10:41 & she was complaining that she goes to lunch from 11:00AM until 12:00NOON. She left & nobody was watching me while I performed a ball rolling exercise on an extremely small table. I fell off the table & onto an igloo cooler. The cooler had the liquid container on top of it with the spout open all the way. I had huge black & blue marks on my arm almost immediately, & you could see the impression of the container & where the spout had punctured my skin & was bleeding heavily. When Jennifer & Carol came back from break, they were astonished at what had happened while they were both gone on break with nobody watching me. Jennifer said, "You're done for today." I replied, "I haven't even started yet." Instead of cancelling the session, she put it down as a full completed session & billed the insurance company for a full session! What a ripoff! The next time that I came in, I told Jennifer L that I didn't feel comfortable with having her as a PT therapist. She said that she was really sorry & that she would never let an incident like that ever happen again. Next time in, same shit all over again. She was always working with another patient & stuck me with one of the helpers. I discontinued working with Jennifer & was placed with Jennii, one of the newer PTs that worked under Jennifer's watch. Jennii wouldn't do the stem treatments on me either. Instead, she worked my butt off doing exercises that were really hurting me. And Jennii, didn't bother to watch me; she pulled the same shit; getting one of the helpers to watch me, as well as several other patients. Meanwhile, she'd be working with another patient. It got to the point where I would work out & be so out of breath on Tuesday, that I would go home & collapse on my couch. I would be there the rest of the day, & then be still so exhausted, that I wouldn't even get up to eat. I would remain on the couch until Thursday morning when I had to get up & catch my ride to PT again. I dropped 40 pounds in less than a year! Then the same shit all over again! My doctor said that I would need a 4th surgery on my spinal cord, as I no longer could stand up straight on my own. I needed a shopping cart in order to walk. My spine was curved going outwards. I had the same curved spine as a Jurassic world veloceraptor, only I didn't have the tail to balance my standing. And my pain got worse. I started abusing my medications, taking more than I should to ease the pain. Suicide was an option that I didn't want to consider, but it was still in the back of my mind. I need to get away from STARS; they were hurting me. I decided to stop PT at the end of this year & consider my options for the next year. Right before Christmas, I did the usual gift giving to everyone that I worked with. Jennii was a fellow cat rescuer & I treated her well; actually too well, spending about $ 70.00 on her with assorted cat gifts. I actually did give Jennifer 2 cat gifts, also. She wasn't there when I was there, so just like last year I left them with someone else to give to her. And just like last year, she never even thanked me for them again. She must have really shitty parents- they sure didn't teach her any manners! I also left a message for Harry, the administrator at STARS Manhasset. He always said that if there's ever a problem here at STARS, to contact him. Well, I left a message with one of the girls up front where you check in to have him call me. I didn't hear from him, so the next time I was over there, I asked if they had given Harry the message. They said that they did & Harry said he wasn't going to call me. I asked again, & was told that they would again leave a message with him, but that they knew he wasn't going to call me. Obviously, Harry doesn't give a shit about STARS rehabilitation center & he shouldn't be working there. I know that after 23 different rehab assignments there & wasting my time there with a 24th referral, I'm never going back! I'm going to contact North Well Corp. & let them know about my recent experience there! P.S. You should also teach your "helpers" to have some respect for the patients. I constantly get yelled at by Joyce for spilling water when I try to refill my water bottle. I had 2 carpal tunnel surgeries recently & was diagnosed with dystrophy. So I can't control my hand & finger movements. Instead of yelling at me, why don't you offer to help me & fill the bottle for me?

Sharon and Peter are both athletes, and I've often exchanged tips and ideas with Sharon outside of Excel. I would highly recommend Excel for their excellent service and amenities!

Back in February, my mother 89 year-old mother started suffering from lower back pain that she…read moreinitially attributed both to her spinal stenosis, diagnosed many years ago, and old age. After a short hospital stay for x-rays and pain management, it was found that she had a slipped disc. Any thoughts of rehab had to be postponed, however, as she got sick with COVID-19 soon after. She recovered, but it left her a bit weak and unsteady. I called my girlfriend, a former gymnast, dancer, and now, doctor of physical therapy, who is director of rehab medicine for a hospital system in another state, and asked for advice. "You CANNOT go to some random PT clinic and expect them to be able to help your mother! It has to be someone who specializes in the spine, and thoroughly understands movement and the body. Whoever it is has to have the very specialized education and training to know how to get your mom back to functioning at the high level she's used to. " She called back a few minutes later. "I just found your guy." Dr. Sparacio, who goes by Jack, was friendly, welcoming, and professional from the first phone call, addressing all of my questions and concerns, including assurance that all COVID-19 safety protocols were in place at his clinic. Jack was to be out of town that week, but assumed me that all of his therapists were equally qualified. As promised, Cameron knew exactly how to work with my mom and get her started. Friendly, upbeat, and thoroughly professional, he clearly was someone who enjoyed his job. All subsequent sessions were with Jack, who gave Mom his full attention as he worked with her. He carefully explained how to do the exercises, as well as the purpose of each. In addition, Jack took the time to engage with and get to know my mother, listening as she told stories of her life and career. Though obviously a people person, it became clear that this was an important component of Jack's method of treatment. The space itself is clean and organized, but the "feel" is inviting and informal, even as profound and important healing work is done. My mother says that she can't thank Dr. Jack Sparacio and his staff enough for giving her the tools to feel and function so much better! Neither can I!
