My parents took us on a vacation here in Alberta and the reason is because my father went to University of Alberta. He had a good friend from Hong Kong who has worked here as a math professor since 1969. He still works at this university, so when my family came to visit, he treated us to dinner at the Faculty Club. I have never been to a university faculty club. It is exclusive I guess. You could choose from one entree. The options were lamb, chicken breast, salmon, or steak. I had the steak and it came with a shrimp kebab. You can only get an entree once or you pay $10 for extra entrees. I liked the buffet. I had potatoes, pasta, chicken salad, and beans. The desserts are very generous. There's carrot cake, lemon meringue, chocolate cake..there's cheese...there's a chocolate fondue fountain..and there's a lot of bottled or canned drinks..as well as a cappucino/hot chocolate machine, and a lot of beer.

I have been to various events here over the years. The venue is starting to somewhat show it's age and could use a bit of a face lift but at the same time it still holds an air of sophistication. I came here yesterday for my work Christmas Luncheon. The party was held upstairs. It is a great space for the size of our group which was a 100 people or so. The space was decorated elegantly with garland, white lights and lit Christmas trees. The room is lined with big windows that give plenty of natural light and the view of downtown skyline is beautiful. The buffet was good. We were greeted to a spread of salads, veggies, pasta, rice, potatoes, mussels, shrimps and turkey. The mussels and shrimp maybe weren't the best I have had but they were decent. Once we were done with our main meal we had a dessert table full of delectable treats. So many cakes, custards, fruit and cheeses waiting for us to indulge in. I had chosen a pecan cheesecake and a chocolate cake. Both were tasty and not too sweet. I was stuffed to say the least when all was done. Definitely in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon and that did not help with having to return to work. The staff were also attentive and friendly. All in all a wonderful party but the food was just ok.

Somewhere to settle the night's chaos, to fill my stomach with something more solid than the alcohol that carried me this far. Denny's is that place. The food here is hearty, the kind that sobers you. The kind that reminds you you're still human after a night you can only recall in blurry memories. Denny's is versatile like that. It's been there for everything; a road trip breakfast in an unfamiliar city, a stop after a night out, or a quiet booth shared with friends and coffee. It's not just a place that serves pancakes and caffeine. It's a place that serves refuge

The only reason I came was because they offer free breakfast on your birthday so I figured why not? The staff was nice and welcoming. Service was okay, I found I had to flag someone down for the bill and the restaurant wasn't that busy. I ordered the french toast meal which came with 3 pieces of french toast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, and 2 sausages. The sausages were pretty good but the rest of the meal was mediocre and what you would expect from a place like this. Overall I'd rate the meal 6/10. On you birthday you get the choice of a free grand slam breakfast or $14.50 off of your meal. Must be the day of your bday with ID present (dine in only).

Small place though and I imagine on weekends it would be really loud. Our server happened to be the owner as well. He was prompt and friendly. He treated us well. Tonnes of amazing cocktails on the menu. I think I will try a different cocktail every time I go. There is one for everyone. Menu is short but has something for everyone there too. I decided on the Warm Mushroom Salad which contained a Mushroom Medley, with a Shallot, Rose Water, & Elderflower Liqueur Vinaigrette and the Spicy Rigatoni with Habanero Rose Sauce. My husband went with Braised Chuck Flatserved on fresh grits, glazed in demi. Cocktails were carefully crafted and the food came out in a timely manner. Food was excellent. The mushroom salad was full of flavour and cooked properly. The spicy rigatoini was excellent with just enough heat from the habanero sauce. However, the real start was the braised chuck which melted with a tap of the fork. The grits were well cooked and a good accompaniment. We were stuffed but I would like to try thier desserts in the future. Cocktail prices were high but in the same price range as other fancy cocktail bars. The food prices were the same as many other places but with higher quality. Definately try this place out. I am looking forward to my next visit.

It's and landed on birdog because the lobster ravioli sounded great and the bison carpaccio peaked my interest. It looked to be a Canadian spin on Italian classics which melted my heart. I'm impressed by the level of service Francisco who was wearing every hat that afternoon showed us. He created us very warmly and seated us and quickly gave us ice cold water since outside was scorching hot. I saw on a menu posted on yelp that there was a pornstar martini that is no longer on the menu, but I asked Francisco his opinion on what drink I should order. He recommended the tulum rider which turned out to be very good but I really did have my heard set on the one I saw online from a past menu. He still offered to make it for us and did an excellent job!! That was the best anything I've ever put in my mouth. Put that back on the menu!!!!!!! The food was incredible. I definitely will be ordering the Margherita pizza the next time I'm there and the bison carpaccio. I jumped on the chance because I love the pizzas here. They have a soft doughy crust. So we ventured here for lunch. It wasn't too full, and it took a while for someone to notice and get us seated. We actually debated leaving, however finally they seated us, it was all good. (Hence why it looses a star). Atmosphere is pretty typical for a craft brewery. I am not a huge sports bar fan, and I was pleased to see that TVs were not a focus here. Menu is good. Lots of different things to try, but they are well known for their pizzas. Great selection of beers. Also an okay selection of cocktails and wine. I am on medication, so I tried a "near beer" can that they offered and I was pleased with the flavour. I wish they would have a non alcoholic that is more local on tap. Hubby because of driving went with a coke. We decided on two pizzas - PB & J which contained roasted pineapple, smoked bacon, fresh jalapeño, mozzarella, brick blend and the Animal Style -Ezzo pepperoni, seasoned beef, bacon, pizza sauce, crushed chilis, Grana Padano. Both came out hot and fresh and tasty. I enjoyed my toppings better, however my husband's pizza sauce was absolutely perfect. Service (once we were seated) was pleasant. We received some chocolate dipped strawberries as a customer appreciation gift and that was lovely. My goal is to try all the pizzas. Give it a go if you like Detroit style pizzas.

The server didn't even notice us for almost 10 minutes which was not a good start. The decor was ok, very typical Canadian airport furnishings i.e. lots of wood and pictures of wild animals. The main thing that really hit a nerve for me here was that the service was awful, the food was below average, and yet I was paying higher than Perth prices for the Privilege?? Booo! $17 for a burger drowned in mayo and served with cold chips is not my idea of pleasant. The patty was actually pretty good so that is why this is a 2 and not a 1 star review. Oh and if you want cheese, onions, or mushrooms on that $17 burger it will cost you $2....an item! To be honest this airport is quite enough that extra time to check in isn't needed, so do yourself a favour and stop at a real restaurant before you get to the airport.

Devoting an entire page to how "healthy" the menu is, it described fresh ingredients like romaine lettuce in detail. The menu, however, was really your standard pub fare: I believe sammies, burgers and some salads. As is my usual choice when faced with not-much-choice I selected their "famous" chicken fingers and to my own shock, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure it's not haute cuisine, but in a pinch it will do. First, I was given a choice between fries or a ceasar salad (lettuce was a little old, but the Parmesan cheese was fresh and it wasn't overly loaded with dressing). Second, a choice between a honey bbq, plum and buffalo dip (go with plum). Third, the chicken fingers were GOOD! The chicken was moist. The breading was dry without a hint of oil. I'm pretty certain these lil breasts never saw the deep end of the deep fryer! And for that they get my nod. But I think what really made me appreciate Jasper was the service. The servers were so helpful! I was taken aback when they helped the lady next to me with her bags. There's a "no baggage cart" rule for diners, and so, when said customer was ready to leave, the server went outside and brought in her cart. That little bit of compassion goes a long way for a weary traveler. *Located on departures level, before security.*
