This is an authentic Asían cousine restaurant that caters to all yet maintains exceptional details to original recipes that have made them a staple of quality in Tampa. Their Asian dishes including great variety of bursting sushi dishes will leave their chefs flavors lingering in your palate, craving for more long after you have left. I can't find a better, more accommodating and with extra kind service and health Driven menu in our area. This sushi restaurant is consistently top gun in my view and appreciations. I may have been expecting amazingly sushi after reading all the reviews on yelp but sadly it was an alright experience. Don't get me wrong this place isn't bad. I love the traditional seating and atmosphere but the table and meuns were sticky, which was a turn off. I went on a Sunday evening and it was quite slow. The waitress was really nice. I didn't have a problem at this place but sadly was not impressed with the food. I ordered the Kobe Sashimi Tempura Special, Cold Seafood Udon Salad and Drunken Noodles. You could say I had a bit from everything they had. The sashimi wasn't horrible nor were they fantastic. I just wasn't amazed. The tempura batter isn't my favorite but I do enjoy that they have all sorts of vegetables from eggplant to zucchini. I was greatly disappointed in the Cold Seafood Udon. For such a high price I wasn't expecting tiny cuts of fish laid on top of Udon, lettuce and their ginger dressing. It def was not a wow factor for me and was touched least. The Drunken Noodles was pretty good. It has a great spicy kick to it from the peppers and the noodles were not too soft or hard. If this restaurant was around the corner, sure I'd eat there often but for me I don't think I would drive out of my way. It was a nice effort but unfortunately I was not amazed. We have gotten take out from here once and ate a special dinner of Shabu Shabu once. My red curry chicken was pretty good. It's different than other places as its a much thinner sauce. Not as creamy as I'm used to but delicious just the same. The shabu shabu meal was a nice treat. Something different than I have ever had before. The beef was so tender. Like butter melting in your mouth. If you have never had shabu shabu before basically they put a hot plate in the middle of the table with broth they bring to a boil. Then you get trays and trays of meat and trays and trays of vegetables. Put some vegetables in there and dip your meat in to cook and that's your dinner. It's pretty neat. If you want shabu shabu you have to give them a few days notice so they can get everything they need for your meal. This meal is gonna cost you a pretty penny so don't have sticker shock like we did. The owners and employees, which includes the former owner, are very helpful. So what are you waiting for?? Get your butt on over to The Faceless Samurai and give them a try. read more

Came here as it is the only place that I could find that serves Okonomiyaki. I had that as my appetizer and was blown away by how good it was. I love this place. The sushi and food are great, the staff is extremely friendly. I do not work here :). I just really enjoy the place and people who enjoy good food and sake will, too. The menu is actually pretty large for a smaller sized restaurant. They have countless options for sushi and a lot of traditional Japanese tempura and hibachi dishes as well. Absolutely terrible service. I called to place an order for dinner to be delivered and was told to order through bitesquad.com. I placed the order with bitesquad to be delivered in 2 hours. I received a call from bitesquad saying the restaurant decided they did not want to make the order. They declined the order 45 minutes after I placed it. They left me stuck now trying to find a restaurant that wants business...and a short time to do it. I will never go to Faceless again! read more

Ordered through bitesquad since this is the only Thai place around that delivers. Delivery was quick, however for the price and portion size I am not overly impressed. Pad Thai was good tasting but the house salad with ginger sauce was lame! Would most likely only eat here again is if I was needing delivery. read more

Would not recommend at all! We were one of four tables sat and it took almost an hour to get the sashimi delivered to our table. You don't even cook it! And when it was presented, it was all thrown into a bowl together. We did get the summer rolls within about 15 to 20 minutes and they were terrible. When we asked for some Sriracha to have with our sushi rolls, they delivered it in the tiniest little ramekin dish and said it would be a $.50 upcharge! After that, we decided we were not waiting any longer so we paid for our drinks and the summer rolls and we left. Very unfortunate we didn't get to experience the sushi but we weren't expecting much after the experience we had already had. read more

I was really hoping to try out a new place and love it. But that was not the case here. First, the restaurant is located off of tampa road in a pretty long plaza with lots of parking. Big plus there. I hate when parking is a hassle. Walking into the place itself, it was really cute. To the left and center, we have tables and to the right we have booths styled in traditional japanese seating. But youre not sitting flat on the floor or seat or anything. I liked the atmosphere of it. It was a busy night on Saturday. About 6 other coupled groups. It's not a huge place. There were two sushi chefs and most likely a cook or two in the back. After ordering one pad thai, one garlic pepper pork stirfry, one tom yum goong soup, and 2 sushi rolls, we proceeded to wait for our food for 35 mins. The tom yum soup is one of my favorites to order at a thai restaurant. I've had it at many places and when it was brought out it smelled really good. I was excited to dig in. Boy was I disappointed. It was the sweetest soup I've ever had. Tom yum soup is supposed to be hot and sour, with hints of lemongrass and citric lime. Ive never had a tom yum like this before. Disappointment. I figured, "oh maybe because theyre more a japanese restaurant, thai isnt their strong suit?" Who knows. I wouldve tried the miso soup had i known. After about 7-10 minutes, the pad thai and garlic pepper pork came out. The pork came with a side of rice. The portions for these were small. These dishes were good. The pad thai was decent. Not the best but decent. It didnt have that strong tamarind flavor that is so essential to a delicious pad thai. Next came out the sushi rolls. We got the mexican and Sexy man. I think these were the highlight of the dinner. It's hard to go wrong with sushi unless its falling apart or youre skimp on the filling. Thumbs up for the sushi. As for service, the girl was very nice and helpful, attentive. But because it was pretty busy that night it was kind of slow. That I dont blame her for as she was the only one waitressing on the floor. Overall, cute place. Food could be a lot better. If anything I would go back for the sushi but probably not on the weekend. read more

This is the place that we have been looking for since we moved to Florida. My husband and I both lived in Japan and have been looking for a great sushi/Japanese restaurant since moving to Florida. This place has a good combination of traditional Japanese Nigiri/Sashimi style dishes as well as the trendy weird sushi rolls that appeal to Americans. They also have a great traditional Japanese full kitchen menu that is all reasonably priced. The tables are the traditional/westernized combination were you can sit with legs folded or drop your legs into the cut out leg space. Half of the staff speak broken Japanese/English which I absolutely love and makes you realize that they will keep their business traditional and delicious. We will definitely be back!! read more

Don't let the location and lack of signage fool you! This sushi is top notch. The sign outside in the strip mall just says "Japanese Restaurant", but it's absolutely wonderful. Everything is made to order, with fresh ingredients. Seriously the best tuna around. They even made something that wasn't on the menu for my friend, and she said it was great. Super nice people very poor quality sushi. Tuna should not be pink like bubble gum. And very fishy, Salmon should not be barely orange. White fish was whiteish tan and very fishy. Tried it because of reviews but won't be back. Only one person in there eating while we where there, should have walked out immediately, first sign. We came here for the first time in January 2013, and I wrote a great review under the "Koba" name, which was the current owner, but previous owner's restaurant name. We returned on May 20th for our 18th Anniversary dinner and were impressed again! The owner is awesome, and the close family feel you get as a patron is really a welcome addition. The owner is especially attentive to his patrons names, situations, likes and dislikes. Be sure to ask for what is fresh in and he will be happy to use it in the combo plates. We have had 2 excellent visits, and have decided that this is our new sushi home once, but reconfirmed it on this 2nd visit! read more

We absolutely love this place! The best sushi in town! The owners are super kind and know how to make sushi and Thai food and run a great restaurant. Try their hot house saki it is so good! We love the fresh ginger salad, edamame, and curry puffs for an appetizer. The Thai spicy tuna roll is fresh sliced into chunks tuna. It's not ground up tuna. We like it spicy so Duke , the owner and chef, gives us an extra side of spicy sauce to dip in. We like the create your own roll option too! Pick anything and make your own fantastic roll. I like to do smoked salmon, cream cheese, tempura shrimp and scallions or carrots for a great crunch! There is one other roll that has lemon aioli on it that is divine! Inside had fresh snapper and outside it was wrapped with thin tuna. Amazing!! This place is great for big parties or a nice intimate dinner for two. I dined in with my family and did not have a good experience. After our drinks were ordered and brought out, we were missing one. We put in our orders when our server brought out the missing drink(which was 10 mins later). The restaurant itself wasn't busy. There was 1 other table seated, who already had their meal. It took a while before our food came out. We ordered a couple sushi rolls. My husband ordered the Japanese Katsu Curry and I had the Seafood Drunken Noodles. The food came out pretty slow. Luckily, I had the sushi rolls to eat because it literally took an hour to receive the drunken noodles. When I finally received my noodles, a large party came in. The party seemed to be regulars/family friends with the sushi chefs and server. I started getting agitated eating my meal because in the 20 mins it took for me to eat my noodles, the group that just arrived already had their drinks, appetizers, sushi rolls and some of their entrées. The food was okay. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I do think it's a little pricey for asian cuisine for the portion. There are other places that have better food and larger portions that are priced comparable or less than here. I personally wouldn't go here again because my experience was bad. Hopefully others will have better service but I recommend take out, if you want to try this place. read more
