I spent thousands of dollars with Fabulous Floors to experience a nightmare. The owner Matt hired a subcontractor who lied to me, took the keys overnight out of my lockbox without telling me, overstated my square footage, and who went ballistic and started yelling at me every time that I tried to resolve issues. When I complained to Matt, he told me that I had to deal with the subcontractor.
He also left unrepaired damage, including a gouge in the floor, chips out of a newly painted wall, and damage to my stair trim. He also claimed that they usually didn't do shoe molding but he left bad stains on my newly painted baseboards and when I asked about shoe molding he lost his temper again and claimed it was too late because he couldn't bring his saw into the house. (The weather was fine and he could have cut the molding outside.)
Their estimate was slightly less than others but I will end up paying way more to hire someone else to repair the damage and put another coat on the floor, partly to seal in the wood putty I used to repair the gouge and also because the two coats they applied left the floor grain rough to the touch and too absorbent overall. Other companies said I needed three coats. Matt said I only needed two but turned out to not be true.
The whole experience was awful. Now I will have to overpay someone else to put another coat on the floor because it's not a part of a larger job and I will have to pay someone else to do painting touch-up and apply shoe molding. And for peace of mind, I'll also have to pay to get the locks changed, even though I already just changed them.
I made the mistake of giving Matt my credit card number so he charged me even though the job was not satisfactorily completed.
All of this has prevented me from being able to move into the house on time.
It's really been a horrible, horrible experience. Do yourself a favor and don't hire these guys. read more
