I told them what i was making and was asking where in the store certain types of fabric were and 3 workers all were ignorant and kept saying I cant tell you because im liable after asking if we needed help. Then he wouldnt leave me alone after i said i am buying not asking you leave me alone and he wouldnt listen to that boundary and let me shop. As an entrepreneur starting my own business this store left the worst taste in my mouth and made me not want to ever return when i was ready to drop $500 on material. read more

I was able to find zippers and elastic material for a costumeIf you are creative in crafting or knitting, this is a good place for supplies. They have a wide selection of fabric designs, but the costs vary. Watch for sales on select items, usually on special holidays. You can find this place Hidden beyond the food court and next to public washrooms. Staff here is alright sometimes busy with people coming by and going. Atmosphere is well lit, visible to see their fabric materials but you'll probably have to search through tons of patterns. Recommended for custom sewing accessories and fabrics. read more

While my Mother-In-Law was visiting, I put her to good use making curtains for my new pad. So we looked at Yelp to find the closest Fabricland and here she is! Right inside Londonderry Mall. I wasn't sure where the heck it was inside, and it's not that easy to find. Tucked away behind the food court near the washrooms, you'll find Fabricland. Like Narnia, hidden at the back of the wardrobe! It's a decent side with a huge haberdashery area with all the bits and bobs you could ever need for making your own... well, anything really. Clothing, bedding, cushions, curtains, accessories. They even have some fab examples on mannequins around the store for inspo on your next project. A great selection of funky fabrics, there is almost too much choice! Want to make your curtain shopping easy? They have ready made one's up the back so you don't need to learn how to attach those curtain rings like I did. read more

When I get in my creative-sewing mood, I head over to Fabricland to find some cool, cheap fabrics. A lot of people think that making your own clothes is cheaper than buying clothes, but the truth is that making your own clothes can be really quite expensive, because fabric is expensive, especially the most beautiful designs. Because I am still a beginner and don't have a lot of money, I always head over to the clearance section in the far left corner of the store. Surprisingly, I've found some really nice fabrics here. A lot of the patterns that are rejected by most shoppers are perfect for me, because I like funky and unique patterns. I've also found some very nice plaids too. Usually, they are pretty cheap and are marked down sometimes up to 70% off. Usually, I don't bother buying things here like buttons, threads, or marking pencils, because I've found these at the dollar store, and they suited me just fine. I think if I was more experienced, I would go for the better quality stuff at Fabricland. But if you're a beginner like me (and you screw up a lot like me), then definitely check out the dollar store--they have tons of sewing stuff. All the women that work here are extremely knowledgeable. They are obviously experienced seamstresses and can answer virtually any question you may have about making anything. Fabricland's prices are a bit pricey, but if you have a club membership, then you get the discounted club price, which I think is 20% off everything. The membership actually isn't that expensive, but I still find it annoying that I have to pay to get the discount. read more

I was in the store today ~11:30 AM . The store was quite busy and there was a lineup to have fabric cut . A customer asked me if this was the lineup and I told her yes. She said she'd come back another time and then proceeded around the table and went straight to an employee to have her fabric cut . The lady at the front of the line informed the staff that she had cut in. Things became quite vocal and I found out that she'd been informed of the lineup previously. The manager came over and they waited on this woman ahead of all of us who were waiting stating she didn't know the situation! I left my fabric and walked out . This store is 5 minutes from my house yet I will drive elsewhere in the future! read more

I have to admit, I was a bit intimidated rolling into Fabricland on my own. I suppose it would probably be the same feeling some women may get when they go into an auto parts store. On that note, the reason I was there was actually to get some vinyl to use as a patch on the seat of the old car that I am fixing up. Thankfully the staff were pretty helpful. They directed me to where the vinyl was and then cut the amount that I needed. I also needed some upholstery needles, which they showed me. I didn't buy them there though, as they were pretty expensive. I picked them up at Walmart instead for 1/3 the price. When I went to pay, it was quite busy and only only register was open, which was fairly slow. read more

I was hoping to learn how to make a tree skirt with my grandmother during Christmas. I do not sew and know really nothing on what I need, but I did a quick google (which apparently told me everything wrong) but I thought this would be a fun project for her and I to do.. I went to the Londonderry location and after wondering around for 30min I was finally asked if I needed help. I explained I have never done any sewing in the past and explained what my grandmother and I were working on. It's like I was being an imposition to the staff by asking for help. The store was not busy and I was continually "forgotten" about and would have to re-explain what I was trying to do. They "helped" me by getting me to buy WAY too much fabric and material. My bill was $180 and I was too embarrassed to tell them no. I did not know how much material would cost, but as I went home and told my grandmother, she was very upset that they got me to buy all this extra stuff that we would not even need. They even sold me the worst type of fabric to sell to a beginner. My Grandmother came back with me and explained to them what I needed and why they sold me such expensive items. No re-funds (I get it, buyer beware and all), lots of stuff we will never use, and a waste of money. The fun little project turned into a stressful event. So if you are new to sewing, do not go here, as you are just a pay day for them and they will teach you nothing or offer no helpful advice. read more

They have a fairly good selection here & were helpful when I needed to find this one specific fabric at another location. However, I did find the staff generally somewhat less than knowledgable- we asked them for recommendations a few times, and most times they offered stuff that turned out to be a poor fit for what we needed (like iron-in interfacing that went too soft for what we needed after ironing it, or loops for corset lacing that turned out to be elasticized & we didn't notice until *after* we bought it- who can tie a corset with elasticized loops for the lacing?). They were also pretty slow at the cutting tables in particular- one lady literally took about 2 minutes just to cut one thing of fabric while she chatted with the customer, despite there being a lineup of people waiting. So the 2 stars are for the decent selection & the one time they were very helpful to me. read more

I have a beef regarding their membership card, I once came in and tried to purchase some fabric and realized I left my card at home, I had purchased something with my card the day before, and on this day I had the exact same cashier, plus I had a picture of my membership on my cell but she flatly refused to give me the discount. Seems I have bad experiences in that store each and every time! I will definitely look for a friendlier store because the staff here as very unfriendly!! read more

"This is effing ridiculous" is what i said to myself when i walked out. This new management they have got this year is the main reason for my disappointment. So far everytime I have come in, there's a newer low to my expectations from them. Today is tuesday, I came in about an hour before closing. I and another lady at the cashier are the only customers in the store. I needed some dark armo weft, but only found white so I guess that could work for my project. I go to the nearest table and gesture towards a lady working nearby who had made eye contact with me before. She was 'oblivious' to my gestures so, being a long time customer, I moved to another cutting table because I for one am NOT going to beg for service or interrupt the lady if she is actually occupied with something at the moment. So I move to the table near the cashier. I figured since the lady in the transaction was just finishing up and it was not busy that the cashier could cut my fabric. She noticed me and understood that I needed something cut and she would be with me soon. But I guess the ladys' transaction was larger than I thought or something that kept the cashier there longer. In that time another employee came by, stood in the cashier area and did nothing. I mean she stood there doing nothing. She even made eye contact with me a couple times but completely IGNORED me. After maybe 5 minutes she still ignored me, standing there, doing nothing. At this point I am furious, I'm standing right here for help and they still IGNORE me. Oh and this isn't the first time. Again, I'm not going to beg for service when it's their job to help customers and not ignore them. So I left. You lost a sale. Fabricland, you're losing ALOT of long term customers and your service is just getting worse. NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS FABRICLAND. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at the Londonderry Mall location of Fabricland last week. I made the trip to the mall specifically to go to just this store so that only compounds the frustration. I went with the intention of buying some bobbins for a recently purchased sewing machine. Not only did I need to spend about 20 minutes looking for an employee for assistance but once I was able to get some attention it certainly was a lot less than helpful. The woman who I asked for advice had no idea what bobbin I may need even though I knew the make (a very common brand) and model number of the machine. This would be fine as I don't expect them to have this information commited to memory but she didn't offer to check or look it up or even consult with another more informed employee. She seemed totally disinterested in helping me as a customer and came across as though I was really inconveniencing her by asking for help. She then told us to call another non-Fabricland sewing store if I wanted help. I left feeling both baffled that someone who cares so little about customer service has a job in retail but also feeling that I had been treated rather shabbily. There may be many wonderful employees at this location but I won't know as I will never be returning. read more
