Store Sales are held so often, because there is always a reason to celebrate us the customer, our birthday, the store birthday, the temperature outside etc. The staff support and help each other, a true team spirit! I don't buy fabric that often, but I happened to be out in this part of town on a Saturday and thought, "Why not?" Years ago, Allan G built me a framed board that I upholstered & added cup hooks to to hang my necklaces in my dressing room on (our 1950s house had NO closet space, so I made one of the bedrooms my IKEA-closeted paradise). However, in my new house, the fabric no longer worked where I wanted to put it. My new bedroom is in silver, gray, and very pale lilac-- sort of Jean Harlow 1930s glamour, so I was looking for some fabric with a nice shimmer or an actual metallic fabric. Found one! Absolutely gorgeous silvery print-- almost like a shantung. My cutter was super friendly and helpful (I can't think in metric). When she asked what I was creating, I had to explain that I had this board, and it was 24 x 26 inches...). When she told me the price I just about fell over, considering the exorbitant prices Fabricland charges. I think I paid around $22.00 for my find. They now have a customer for life, and I'll come back here FIRST before ever spending a dime in another Fabricland.

I had a chance to run in here last month while my daughter was at ski lessons and what a treat! Books were on clearance for $1 that day! YES - $1 books! Came home with a giant bag filled with books to overfill our already filled bookshelves! But hey, since when could one have too many books? Once Upon a Child is HANDS DOWN the best consignment store chain for used children's clothing and accessories. I've frequented them in Edmonton for several years now and even visited one in Saskatoon! You can drop off your gently used clothing and toys to trade in for store credit if you'd like as well. They offer a frequent purchaser stamp card to earn discounts and usually have coupons in the SUTP coupon book. They are on facebook and have an e-mail list if you would like advance notice for upcoming sales and specials! They also carry new items like Melissa & Doug at prices below what you would find at Toys R Us. Once Upon A Child is most definitely a dream come true for frugal shoppers who know that a baby outfit may get worn once or not at all!

I began my journey with them by taking a 3 evening quilt-making course. I had always wanted to learn and luckily I found the perfect place and teacher for that. Ingrid is not only very personable - she is also a bit of a task master - in the very best way. With 8 of us taking the quilt making class she managed to keep us all on track and by the end we were all putting finishing touches on our beloved projects. She does this with humor, a keen eye and a fantastic knowledge of the whole quilting process, since she has been quilting since she was little. Her shop is loaded with delights, whether a beautiful fabric, a kit to make or something she has designed herself and will show you how to create. I like her because she is a no-nonsense kind of gal and is in the quilting business simply because she loves it - and I'm very grateful for that.

She literally stood around the corner at the back listening to us while we were looking at products. NO - she wasn't trying to be helpful.....she just watched us - I have shopped at Quiltessential many times and have never felt like I was being treated like a thief before this time. Maybe that's how the new staff member is - but it ruined my outlook on the store - will not shop there again, which I find quite sad considering how few quilt stores there are in the area. One staff member has lost the store a couple of customers.
