I made a purchase on Feb 01 and was charged the wrong g price. I called the store same day and was told to come back anytime for adjustment. due to family emergency, I was out of country and then I got sick. I went to the store on March 18 as it was my first day out. I had explained what had happened and they refused to make a correction as the store policy is 15 days for "returns and exchange". Went there for 1 meter broad cloth. I needed 6 for traditional ceremony. The total came up to $72!!!! That's $12 for 1 meter of there cheapest cloth. I was shocked to say the least. I walked out disgusted. This store is taking advantage of First Nations traditional or ceremonial times which is mainly in the Summer. The St. Albert store is my favorite and I shop for fabrics A LOT! Today I bought over two hundred dollars in fabric and other supplies and Dustyn and Susan were outstanding in their service, helped to coordinate fabrics, made helpful suggestions and were very congenial which made for a very pleasant shopping experience. The store has a superior stock of supplies, is super organized and the sale prices were excellent. The women at the till were also helpful and efficient. read more

I went to the Fabricland store in Londonderry Mall Edmonton looking to purchase window panels but to my surprise I was not eligible for the sale price because I am not a member. I was told to be a member I must purchase a membership for $20.00. No way was I about to do that. Does not make sense to me. Doesn't this company want to do sales with everyone. I saw the other reviews (all very bad) before I went here and I was shocked to see that those claims were so far fetched. The workers were so welcoming and kind to me. One of the workers even guided me throughout the whole store and help me find and pick every item on my list. Super nice. Please don't feel intimidated by the reviews of this place. I shop here often since it is closer to home than Marshall Fabrics, the only other major fabric store in Edmonton (some Indian saree stores but limited offerings). I find Fabricland service just fine, although sometimes understaffed when it gets busy, and busy times are predictable: sales, back to school, pre-any holiday, etc. But all stores have a decent range of offerings in fabrics and notions. Sales offer good value too. Their regular prices are higher than anybody else though. read more

Literally every location I've been to is filled with snot nosed older employees who are so rude. I don't know how these stores stay open. The west end one has abusive signs for customers about being on their phones and the one on gateway has employees who stand and stare at you while one cashier tries to ring up a line of 10 ppl alone. I am going to give Fabricland 3 stars but that's me being very generous. Their staff definitely need more training in customer satisfaction. Their main goal is to get everyone to sign up for their membership but really they are not actually putting in the work that makes me want to be a member there. The ladies that cut the material take their time and they chit chat. There was a line of about 8 people at the till even though there were 2 tellers working there. If I could give this place negative stars, I would! The staff are incredibly rude! It was my first time in the store and they bitched at me because I didn't know the rules of the place. The staff member started to talk down to me and was very snotty about me not knowing how things work there and how the cutting of the fabric went. The cashier then made ignorant comments about how I wasn't a member and that it was gonna be so expensive. I was capable of reading the price myself. She mentioned how expensive it was 5 times in the time it took us to pay. First and last time I ever step foot in a Fabricland after that. I have been reading reviews on this site and was quite amazed to find so many negative ones. I have often shopped at the 175 street location and the one on Gateway. I have never, absolutely never run into a rude or snooty salesperson. Although the stores are sometimes to my mind understaffed, they have been pleasant, helpful, and courteous. Walking in at 5 minutes to closing and expecting someone to measure out a bolt of 10 ton12 metres is unreasonable and rude. Today I was at Fabricland and witnessed a person arguing with the woman at the door who had told her she couldn't enter without a mask. Store policy during this covid pandemic, but there she was, making a scene about a face mask. I see another complaint regarding prices. Generally their prices are lower than most quilting stores I shop at. I think some folks just like to complain. read more

Fabricland has become my new favorite store, as I've recently taken up sewing. I'm pretty sure I stop by this place every weekend. You can find everything you need for your sewing projects here. It seems daunting at first if you're not used to it, but after a couple visits I got used to the layout of the store and where everything was. There is a section specifically for quilters to one side, and all other fabrics on the other, with notions and everything else located in the back of the shop. They even have curtains, drapes and curtain rods. I like to head over to the clearance corner first when I need fabric, because you never know when you can find something good and unexpected for much cheaper. Annual membership costs $20 and gets you 50% off regular priced items (so you can't use it on the clearance stuff). They also offer something called a "deluxe" membership where you pay $40 now and receive membership benefits for another 2 years. Fabrics can cost quite a bit without the discount, so if you plan on doing a few projects it's well worth it. The staff here are always friendly and willing to help with whatever you need! read more

I have shopped here for years but will never go back. I stood in line for about 15 minutes and was then invited to enter and offered hand sanitizer. I found my material and had it cut. Just as I was about to walk to the till (the manager?) came up and said that I must leave the store because I wasn't wearing a mask. I asked if I could pay for my material and she said no. None of the staff were wearing masks, only face shields, which are a layer of added protection for health care workers but do NOT take the place of masks. I said that this was confusing to me but she pointed out that I should have read the signs outside, which I did not see. She talked very loud like she was angry and it was very embarrassing. She said that the staff member who let me in would be written up. This place needs some education on COVID control as well as how to treat customers. read more

Called to see if they had an item was transfered to another employee, was told they did have it and when I went to the store was told I could not enter because I didn't have a face mask. In my conversation with not one but two employees on the phone they failed to mention this very important condition. Upon entering into the store, one of your staff members named alex clearly followed us around the store for 15 minutes before asking us if we needed assistance. She followed only us and no one else, this is very funny considering we were the only brown people in the store. I have never been more creeped out in a shop then I have in this fabric store, my mother and I wanted to come here to see what selection it had as soon as we walked in there was this man walking around with a large broom he kept staring at us and we both felt uncomfortable. Then he watched other women also with this stare and it was just uncomfortable! The women that was cutting our material didn't know what she was doing, she cut the material uneven and then when we were finally done shopping we went to stand by the register and waited and waited. While we were standing there for 10 minutes there was only on cashier and the manager walked by the at 2 times and didn't even make one move towards the cash area. Looking around there was many employees standing around and talking to other employees while there was a line of at least 6 people behind us and no one came to help at the register. I will never come back to this store I would rather travel to the north side of the city or go back to the one nearest to my house. But this Fabricland will NEVER get my business again!! read more

I have to drive at least an hour and a half to get to the store. I find the regular prices ridiculous, so I'm only there to look for a good buy for a specific purpose. I find the staff and service lacklustre, I don't even bother to ask for help. I find the employees standoffish and unfriendly. I do what I have to do and get out. I do shop here often, they have a side selection and I like that they have their fabric sorted by type to make it easier to shop. -To the guy complaining that they are racist, I have seen every type of nationality working in this store. Which is great because quite often there are several languages offered to help out as many customers as needed. -I have found staff to be friendly and sometimes offer advice on a project or remind me to get notions. -My ONLY complaint is that there prices are WAY too high, I do buy most of my notions at Walmart or online and quilt often buy my fabric online as well. I go here when in a rush for a customer order. Yes I have the membership card but the 50% off quilting is the regular price of buying it anywhere else. read more

Horrible! Horrible service! It was 6:00 and I came in at five minutes to close. I had the bolt of fabric im my hand and the staff refused to cut it. I explained I DID NOT WANT IT CUT. I wanted the entire bolt. They refused to even measure it for me. They said come back tomorrow! We dont cut fabric! I will never return to this fabric land ever if they treat thier customers in such a way. Just plain rude! They can stick my membership seriously if this is the customer service they will continue to have. If it wasnt for thier customers they wouldnt have a job! Hopefully they remember that. Shop at Fabricland? We were there a while back, my wife was at the counter, and the woman who works with the patterns wasn't serving her. Why? Possibly because she's First Nations? Well, she said "excuse me" and the woman came and helped the white woman standing beside her. Upsetting to say the least. Well, she put it behind her, and the other day she went back and the same woman wouldn't cut her fabric! She left the cutting table, found a white customer, and came back with her!!! So we complained, and surprisingly a 'witness' turned up and said how the woman excused herself and all sorts of crap... but it was only us and the woman at the table! So, Fabricland is doing... nothing about it. So, we won't be shopping at Fabricland anymore. Then again, I guess we weren't that welcome anyway. read more

We hit up this location because of its convenience to where we were in the city. The store is much more tidier and easier to navigate than the one on Gateway Blvd. The place even had their fabrics and accessories labelled with signs hanging so getting the vinyl that I needed was quick. I really want to love Fabricland, but the limited stock, through the roof prices and absolutely horrid customer service make me really despise it. My most recent experience involved me standing at an empty cutting table for well over 20 minutes. I had two cashiers staring at me, and one more employee walking around. 2 minutes into waiting, I asked her if there was someone at this cutting table or if I should go to another (empty) one. Instead of answering, she just yelled "Name" as she kept on walking. I stood there and waited for "Name" to show up while both cashiers continued to stare, and the other employee walked by me 6 or 7 times. Finally one of the zombie cashiers asked me if I was waiting for a cut. I said yes, and they yelled "Name2" and directed me to a cutting table 10 feet to my right. "Name2" was the lady that had originally answered my question and had walked by me that many times. I just can't believe that she was so utterly clueless. I left very frustrated and I will definitely be driving the extra distance to shop at Marshalls from now on. Way better prices, beautiful selection, and I have had lovely friendly conversations and great service consistently from there. read more

I was in this store over the weekend with my daughter and I have to say the customer service rates a zero. The staff are rude and have no interest in helping customers. We arrived at the store 15 min before it was going to close, however we knew what we needed, quickly selected the fabric and proceeded to the table to have it cut. They announced that the store was closing in 15 minutes, they wanted us to get our stuff and go however they only had one person cutting fabric, 3 others were sorting sale tags at the other table! There were several customers waiting to have fabric cut and the customer who was being served had several bolts of fabric to cut so that was going to take some time for one person to do, so I politely asked a lady at the other table if she was able to cut our fabric. No smile... she bluntly told me no, that she had 'other work' to do. Of course by this time, they were announcing every 5 min that the store was closing and to bring our purchases to the cashier so why aren't staff at both tables cutting fabric to move this process along..? Minutes after the lady told me she couldn't cut my fabric because she was busy, yet another announcement was made for available cutters to get to the tables and help customers so she ended up helping me anyway. I guess her work could wait after all. We finally got the fabric cut, paid and when we got to the door, it was locked so we had to wait for someone to let us out. She took her time getting to the door and then made a lame comment of some sort as she let us out. My daughter and I just shook our heads. If we hadn't needed the fabric for a project the next day, we wouldn't have stayed to endure that treatment. I was quite appalled at the whole experience since several years ago when this store was located at West Edm Mall, I worked there for a short time. Customer service training was important and we strived to be good at it. The staff were fun, friendly and we tried hard to help customers and send them on their way with a smile. By far the worst location in the city. The store is frequently a disorganized mess - bolts of fabric scattered, in wrong sections or sitting on filthy floors, etc. Service is terrible on a regular basis including long lines at cutting tables (because only one is ever open), long lines at the till should there be more than half a dozen customers in the store. Twice in past I've had to send my husband to an atm because their debit/credit system crashed. Twice in the last month I've left empty handed - once because I was on my lunch and couldn't wait the 20+ minutes for the cutting table (because again only one was open) the other because the 3 rows of flannel were all hideous and or cheap/thin and nothing I would subject a baby to (as in all UGLY Xmas and teenage girl prints - nothing baby and very little plain). I don't know if the quilting/flannel fabric selections are so bad because anything decent flies off the shelf or because the person ordering has the same taste as Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. Either way - don't go here. Just don't. It is a waste of time. Drive out to Sherwood Park if you simply must shop at Fabricland. read more
