I don't buy fabric that often, but I happened to be out in this part of town on a Saturday and thought, "Why not?" Years ago, Allan G built me a framed board that I upholstered & added cup hooks to to hang my necklaces in my dressing room on (our 1950s house had NO closet space, so I made one of the bedrooms my IKEA-closeted paradise). However, in my new house, the fabric no longer worked where I wanted to put it. My new bedroom is in silver, gray, and very pale lilac-- sort of Jean Harlow 1930s glamour, so I was looking for some fabric with a nice shimmer or an actual metallic fabric. Found one! Absolutely gorgeous silvery print-- almost like a shantung. My cutter was super friendly and helpful (I can't think in metric). When she asked what I was creating, I had to explain that I had this board, and it was 24 x 26 inches...). When she told me the price I just about fell over, considering the exorbitant prices Fabricland charges. I think I paid around $22.00 for my find. They now have a customer for life, and I'll come back here FIRST before ever spending a dime in another Fabricland.

She literally stood around the corner at the back listening to us while we were looking at products. NO - she wasn't trying to be helpful.....she just watched us - I have shopped at Quiltessential many times and have never felt like I was being treated like a thief before this time. Maybe that's how the new staff member is - but it ruined my outlook on the store - will not shop there again, which I find quite sad considering how few quilt stores there are in the area. One staff member has lost the store a couple of customers.

One was quite large, so I had used the valet service where they load it all up for you. I would highly recommend this service. I found Ingrid, Keith and staff to be most helpful. They were exceptionally attentive, prompt service, efficient, friendly and made this a very productive and satisfying experience for me and my quilts turned out amazing. But, you'll be pleased you stopped because you usually will leave with beautiful fabric for your projects. Quilter's Dream offers quilting courses and classes to every quilters skill level. Their quilting room/area is not too bad in size considering the size of the store.

But now it's like the treadmill with clothes hanging off of it - the machine is just sitting in my storage room, waiting for use. I went with my fiance's brother and his girlfriend, who are both much better and more enthusiastic about sewing than me. This place is pretty big - I couldn't believe how far it goes back. The rows of fabric just keep going and going. A lot of the fabrics are your standard grandma florals or the kind of patterns you might find on kids pajama pants, but some of them are really interesting. There were quite a few staff working when we went (on a Saturday) and the sewing duo were happy with their purchases.

The stores are going steadily downhill, and closing left, right and centre. The stores that are open cater to interior design and quilting, with very little fashion fabric in stock any more. Now, when I need to make something, I pretty much dread the fabric buying practice at this store. Horrible selection, zero stock, no order, dirty stores and staff that just doesn't care. I don't sew nearly as much now, and part of that is due to Fabricland. If you need fabric, do yourself a favour and go a few blocks further to Marshall's Fabrics.

The staff is very knowledgeable from traditional methods to the current market of today. Their fabric options and colors are unsurpassed. Amount of notions, rulers and bag/purse hardware is surreal! Store Sales are held so often, because there is always a reason to celebrate us the customer, our birthday, the store birthday, the temperature outside etc. The staff support and help each other, a true team spirit! Their staff said…read moreI could and I placed the order for pickup and it was confirmed. the next day I was leaving town so drove to the warehouse trusting someone would be there as their hours were showing open. nobody around. Nobody answering either phone #. I waited 30 min but had to leave. they then emailed and cancelled my order, didn't even offer to ship it at my expense or otherwise. I won't be ordering again.

The lady who owned the store was chatting away showing off new items in the clothing boutique at the back of the room. She was lovely and very approachable. I needed up buying a top and necklace for my mother in law. The fashion is really nice and aimed at ladies in their 40s+ I would say. I was into plenty of it, as they have a really nice on trend rack. The home wares are fun interior decor items inc paintings, ornaments, furniture, vases and mirrors. I have my eye on a cactus cookie jar. They were in the middle of taking down all their Christmas stuff so can't wait to see what stock they put in it's place.

Many items are very appealing and would look great in a variety of different rooms within a home. Not only are there Decor items, the store also carries Clothing, Jewelry, and a variety of Handbags as well. I had no idea this store existed until I looked on Yelp and realized that I drive by this store on the way to work every day. So glad I stopped in. Worth a look!
