Went here to find foam to fill my ottomans and I left learning so much more about foam and fabric from the owner! He was great and the store felt like how businesses were run back in the day. You could get exactly what you needed for a pretty good value AND you don't ever have to leave the neighborhood. This is the best store and customer service experience I have had with my DIY home decor needs. Eric went way out of his way to ensure that I had an excellent experience in his design fabric store. He is knowledgable about any time period of furniture you may be looking into for proper fabric style and even has great ideas. The store carries a wide variety of fabrics in textures, styles, solids and prints. I was able to restore two Cy Mann 70's chrome chairs in a beautiful deep purple mohair and also found perfect fabrics (sheer and solid with black out lining) for custom made French Pleated Curtains. I will certainly be back to Fabric City for my home design needs and I highly recommend anyone with D.I.Y. needs to visit Eric at Fabric City on Northern Boulevard in Queens. The selection of fabrics is by far the best I have seen while on my hunt, and Eric and the crew have endless knowledge about which fabric is right for you (and will work with you and your budget). From the second I walked through the door, I was treated like I was the most important customer, I was given so many fabric samples to bring home and really nail down what would look awesome, and when the time came to buy it, it was seamless. This store is amazing. AMAZING. The staff and owners are so friendly, helpful, well versed in their craft, and seem to really value quality customer service. I had the very good fortune of being pointed towards this Queens gem after various hunts throughout Manhattan for my "perfect" fabric - meaning their had to be enough, it couldn't cost an arm and a leg, and I had to love it. I'm home with the perfect 12 yards of fabulous and super cool upholstery fabric :) Oh, and I took the Q19 from Astoria straight there - the store is located about a five minute walk from Astoria Blvd and 101th Street, where you can get off the bus. Brilliance. I can't wait to come back to both Fabric City Home Decor (tackling my sofa after I finish my ancient recliner) and then maybe browsing Fabric City for some fun dress and blouse projects. AMAZING D.I.Y. experience. We went in just to feel things out about re-upholstering our furniture (dining room chairs) and the staff and owner were unbelievably helpful. They cut us new foam to size, and helped us select the right tools and fabrics for our job. In fact they provided innumerable samples, even beyond our specifications, to help us make an educated decision and push our decor ideas. We had to go back twice for more samples and they were polite, supportive, and proactively helpful. We couldn't be happier with the result, service, and owner's expertise. HIGHLY recommended for D.I.Y. home decor and improvements, design, crafting, upholstery, etc. I honestly hope to have another opportunity to shop there soon! Awful experience with the owner. After negotiating a cash price for some fabric, he decided to charge me more and reneged on our agreed upon price. His reasoning as he railed why he reneged on the price was that NYC and the Mayor's office was anti-business. As a consumer, I explained that is not my problem. I reminded him of the agreed upon price. His answer was that he felt disrespected because I called him on his price change. I will never give this guy business ever again and that's a shame because it's small businesses like this that are the economic engines of neighborhoods, especially in the current pandemic climate; However, there is no excuse for any business to try and screw over a consumer. read more

So many good things to say about this place, I don't know where to begin. Firstly, the store boasts an assortment of fabrics, leathers, vinyls, and other accoutrements perfect for upholstering furniture and curtains. The supplies are of the highest quality, because, as Eric (the charming owner) says: "You can't skimp on the good stuff, it'll last you a lifetime." That's what you get when you patronize this store, a friend for life and materials that will last you just as long. Secondly, Eric and his wife. They are a lovely couple, energetic, patient, and enthusiastic about helping you find exactly what you're looking for. Choosing fabrics can be a painstaking task, but they both make it a hell of a lot easier, and fun! Thirdly, Eric is very knowledgeable, so if you want to know about the time period of your piece and what was apropos in terms of upholstery, just ask! He'll transport you back in time: in my situation he took me way back to the 1920s--we had a blast. Lastly, Eric has done supplied for some major television productions, such as: Boardwalk Empire, Ugly Betty, and The Butler, to name a few. That alone speaks volumes. The owner Eric, who regularly does business with major designers and film/TV sets, treated us the same as he would a high paying client. He went out of his way to do us favors and even connected us with a wonderful upholsterer to finish our job--and we were first time customers! There's no catch to his kindness. This is a small store. I've been here a few times and have bought fabric to make table runners (I tend to change them often :) They have a decent selection. How ever its not cheap. You''ll end up paying anywhere between $10 to $25 a yard for fabric, depending on what you want. They have nice fabric for tapestry. read more

This store is great - they have a pretty good selection and variety of different styles from modern, contemporary, to more traditional. You can find a real steal on the fabrics on sale - and the full price selection has some really beautiful textures and patterns. We were there looking for curtain fabrics and hardware and the owner was super nice and friendly. He gave us advice and also referred us to someone who could make the curtains and another person who can do upholstery. I have been to countless fabric stores, however this store is by far the most organized one I have ever been too. Prices are fair and they sell $1 appliques, and have basically everything. This is one of those stores that you walk into maybe with the intention of buying one thing in specific but end up being inspired by a fabric or trimming and ultimately end up buying a few more couple of things than originally planned. read more

This was the first fabric store i ever went to when i was 12 or 13. Both The owners loved helping me and teaching me about the industry. With out this couple i would have never been able to go to the Highschool of Fashion Industries, (the only Highschool in NY that offers Fashion design and also is one of the top 5 school in the DOE). They have an amazing selection of fabrics, trims, buttons, and notions. I generally come here to buy jersey material for school projects and i love picking up their discounted items witch are basically good products that dont really sell but that actually work unlike other places that just discount the things that have been sitting in their basement for x amount of years. I love chatting with their staff, their so up to date and understanding of what you need and want to make. When you shop here you usually end up finding what you want or something close to it. Also this fabric store is VERY organized, unlike other stores where you can barely walk in.... Im happy to have them in my neighborhood. read more
