Pizza here is always on point, make sure you come before closing or settle for what's left. Don't mind my toddlers reactions to unboxing our pizza

Pepperoni Roll

Used to be my favorite place at the mall, but hadn't been there in years. Stopped and grabbed 3 slices of pizza and a pepperoni roll with my son, because it's now his go to place at the mall. Cost me $20 and the pepperoni in the roll was single layer thick, like the cheap ones at the gas station. Disappointing....

Pretty good pizza... I didn't care for the pepperoni, but the crust was perfect

Fantastic I like…read moretotally flew by the seat of my pants when I planed the West Virginia portion of our trip. Wheeling seemed to be somewhere in the vicinity of our drive to Morgantown tomorrow so I decided to stay the night. Looking for a place for dinner, I stumbled upon this place on Yelp in wheeling. Little did I know what an iconic place this is. We arrived at 5:15 on a Wednesday evening bc we are getting old. A couple leaving at 5:15 made us see our future. We were fortunately seated immediately. The inside is SO CUTE. I can't get enough of it. It felt like such an authentic Italian experience. Our server was incredible. So nice, personable, helpful. We started with our beverage orders. I went with a little something off their cocktail menu the elderflower martini which, exactly as I expected, was way more like spiked juice than a "martini" but I wouldn't want it any other way. Don't think I wasn't intrigued by the fried cheese but we have been eating a fair amount of that lately so instead of offering an app, I opted for an entree (stuffed rigatoni) and a side of broccoli. GF ordered fettuccine with red clam sauce. She got a house salad and I didn't for some reason. The broccoli was seasoned wonderfully but the texture wasn't as crisp as I would have liked. The rigatoni and the house sauce was ORGASMIC. That sauce is incredible I would gladly buy it by the jar. The rigatoni were al dente pillows of creamy ricotta heaven. Spectacular. GF regarding her red clam sauce pasta, "delicious". We also ordered the tiramisu to go so stay tuned on that.

Our waitress was friendly and went above and beyond the whole time we were there. They give you bread and butter with your meal and it was really good. I ordered wedding soup and ate every last bite or sip of it. For my entree I went with the classic spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. The sauce was perfect and they sell jars of it that you can take home with you. I had a great experience here and will definitely be back.

The wait staff was attentive, and the food arrived quickly. The prices were quite good as well. The downside to the meal is the taste of the water. This flavors everything from the fresh water itself, to the drinks, to the wonderful looking freshly made pasta. I don't know if it's the city water, or something in the pipes, but my wife, children, friends, and I all found the taste of the pasta not to our liking. Upon tasting my son's water, since he complained about the taste, we found the pasta to have this same taste. We never want to have just one try of a restaurant, as sometimes things change over time. We revisited three additional times, hoping the tastes had changed over the last year. (Actually, we forgot about the taste of the water before the second visit, but we were reminded quickly.) The taste of the water hasn't improved, and unfortunately, it continued to flavor the pasta. We did discover after a ball game that the water seems to be a local issue as the fast food places nearby have the same taste. If they were to move to a location with better tasting water, or filter it in some way, this would be a great place to eat.

Really at a cross roads reading the other reviews after our lunch experience here. This vibes were…read morecozy and everyone at the door was welcoming and friendly. And that's where it pretty much ended for me. We were greeted by 2 individuals prior to being sat. Once we were sat I was told I couldn't have any outside drinks. I was carrying a hot tea in a paper cup when we walked in. No one else mentioned this. I later read a posting in the bathroom about outside drinks being prohibited. Seemed like it was mostly to prevent outside alcohol but was a blanket statement for all drinks. I thought it was odd I had to take my hot tea back to my car. Besides that the waitress wasn't super warm and friendly either. If I remember correctly she started with, "what are you drinking?" After I had to walk my tea to our parked vehicle. The food was mid. Very very mid. I got a salmon savory crepe. The salmon was dry, almost white in color and just seemed old. The crepe itself was chewy and hard to cut. My husband's wrap was decent. Kids plates were also decent. I liked that you "created" their plate from 3 categories or options. Overpriced for quality and portion. Once our food arrived there was a swarm of gnats that came with it. Our table was wobbly so cutting any food shook the entire surface. Our toddler caught on to this and wanted to rock the table the whole time. So between holding the table, trying to cut food and swatting gnats away.. it just wasn't a good experience all together. I'm confident there are better options in town for us to try when we return.

It was big enough to share with three people! This is the type of restaurant that has silly names for everything on their menu. For example, Crepes of Wrath is a savory crepe with sausage, and Banana-fo-Fana has bananas and granola in it. Usually, I refuse to say these silly names out loud when I order, and instead will just order according to the ingredients. ("Give me the Nutella and berries crepe.") I know. I'm that person! You don't want to take me to a silly-names restaurant, because I will ruin your silly-names experience. In this case, though, the silly names are so pervasive throughout the menu that I was overwhelmed and I just gave up. Sometimes, you just have to grit your teeth and play along. Yes, I did say, "Give me the Last Tango." Before the crepe, though, we got lunch. Later Alligator has a huge sandwich menu. At least two dozen different sandwiches! Then there's wraps, salads, appetizers and a kids' menu. I got the Fowl Play (sigh), which is chicken salad with lettuce and tomato on a croissant. My oldest kid got the Club Car, which included ham, turkey, Swiss cheese and lettuce. In case you were wondering: The silly names extend to the kids menu, too! (Which Wich Tuna Fish is just one example.) My younger kid got the Munchkin (mac and cheese). The kids' mac and cheese here is a mini cup, so just keep that in mind if your child eats a lot. Both of my children eat like birds, so the size of the mac and cheese wasn't a problem for us. This is also the type of restaurant that has interesting things everywhere you look (including the restroom!), so take some time to look around at all of the paraphernalia everywhere.

Came here for the buffet on this particular occasion, though I have gotten take-out from them in the past and it has been spectacular. The buffet isn't always restocked as quickly as you might like, though that is bound to happen in smaller establishments. There isn't a ton of charm to the interior though it seems like a good throwback to the pizza place forerunners of the 60's and 70's, which has its own version of ambiance. Cleanliness is middling, as is the service. They definitely provide good quality for the price, and value is the name of the game when it comes to pizza. I recommend the pepperoni rolls and the cookie pizza, those are well-worth the stomach space. I plan on coming back here during my future trips to Wheeling, and you should definitely consider giving it a shot as well. Overall: 4.0 stars --- Pros: - Excellent pizza and delicious desserts. - Value is great for the money, especially the buffet. - 60's/70's pizza aesthetic appeals to me, and hopefully it will for you as well. - Good amount of parking, especially since this shopping center is rarely busy. Cons: - Service is mediocre, nothing much to recommend there. - Cleanliness is occasionally an issue, which is the job of the service staff, so this is probably just an extension of their service issues. - Never done delivery from here, so I can't comment on that. I would check out some of the other reviews here if you're looking for insight about that.
