The barber there is rude and impolite, you can not seem any smile and motion in his face. He looks you owe him some money, and he just wanted to cut as fast as possible. When he was cutting for me, he even hurt me and made me feel very pain. The cut process is done in 10 minutes, but the quality is very horrible. 3 Star for the haircut, 5 Star for the value!! I just relocated back to the Bay Area and have been looking for a low-cost hair cut. In Asia, there is an awesome place to get haircuts called QB House from Japan. It's awesome - it's about $10 and your hair is cut in 10 mins. It's awesome for someone like me. F8 Quickcut does a nice job of replicating it. Here are the things I look for: 1. Low cost - I have a simple hair style and cut (see #2), so I don't need anything fancy. I've gotten my hair cut at fancy places that charge $25 ($30 including tip) and I can't tell the difference. F8 is $8 + $3 tip. Done. 2. No fuss; just cut - I don't need a stylist, I just need you to follow my directions. I've got Asian Male hair and I know exactly what I want. #4 on the sides, 1 inch off the top. Don't get cute, just cut. Don't need product, I got it at home/car/bag. Don't need shampoo, I'll wash my hair when I get home/work/gym. Don't need chit chat, that's what my family/friends are for. Just cut baby, just cut. 3. Clean and efficient - F8 is pretty clean (although not as clean as the ones in Asia which offer a similar service, but passes the bar). It is very efficient. I went on a weekday and there was a 5 min wait and the hair cut took about 10 mins. Perfect. So, in short, if you're looking for a stylist who will take 30-45 mins to style and cut your hair, talk to you, shampoo and massage your head, and then charge you $30 out the door, then this is not the place for you. If you know exactly what you want and looking for great value and efficiency, then this place is great! read more

Horrible, horrible experience. I took my two girls there to get their hair trimmed -- a very easy 2 inches off the bottom. We've been to plenty of cheap hair places before, without issue. My older daughter was helped by the woman -- totally fine experience. My younger daughter was with the angry man. He brushed her hair violently with a comb. Complained that I should have brushed it before I got there (I know it's a cheap haircut -- but they can't even brush the hair?!) Finally I told him to stop. He shook his head no and kept violently pulling the comb through her hair. So I finally yelled at him to stop and give me my money back. He stormed out of the store. I'm pretty sure he had no intention of refunding me but the woman offered to take care of my younger daughter and did a fine job. OMG what a nightmare. read more

First time that I got my haircut at this place. I yelp it & after reading other comments. The cut is only $ 8 . Cheaper than the airbase. Barber did outstanding military style cut. No line on a Saturday afternoon. Place & equipments look modern including the automated casher-never seen that before. I wish there is one in closer in San Mateo. read more

I started getting my hair cut here when they first opened. It was a no-nonsense place with a low price and easy to walk right in and have little wait time. The sylists are ok. No complaints about their work. Just zero personality. Well, it has gotten a lot busier there. No way can I just walk in anytime. I have to go during non-peak hours or else I'm going to have to wait a long time. They also raised their prices but they are still pretty cheap. read more

DIEM is a hair genius. She can do fades really well and always has me looking clean. She's precise and efficient. I always get a number 1 fade on the sides and a 4 on top and it Never takes more than 20 minutes. Go here if ur tryna with a cheap good haircut! read more

I stopped in for a "quick cut" and waited 45 minutes before I got my hair cut... had I not already paid at the door I would've walked out.

I have been there twice now and have had good experiences both times. My annual hair cut is no small feat. I have a lot of thick hair and I get a years worth of hair cut off each time. I've had people complain, take an hour then charge me extra at the end! But here, she just kept cutting and was attentive to make sure she didn't cut too much and didn't flinch when at the end I told her I wanted my bangs trimmed too. I do think she might have left a section longer than she intended. It must've gotten tucked behind my ear or something, but very minor and overall I'm very satisfied with this no fuss hair cut experience. And it's nice when you give a huge tip( percentage wise) and still pay half what you did at the other cheap hair salon. read more

Very bad place to have a hair cut. I had the worst experience at this place. No customer service awareness. The guy looked very unhappy, the rude guy who did not say sorry when he mistakenly touched my eyeglasses and dropped them. He was not interested in customer service, and finished my haircut in five minutes. I am not happy with my hair that does not look good after he cut it. Where is their management? These employees need to get trained in basic customer care awareness and skills. Very bad haircut place. read more

Just plane terrible. quick and cheap, just like the haircut. I read some reviews and thought id give it a shot. Lot of patches of uncut hair and an uneven fade showing multiple lines! I ended up driving to union city to my old barber the next day and paid to have it fixed. If you care about how you look, never go with a quick cheap cut!! read more

I just had a horrible experience, where the stylist was not in a hurry (thanks to good Yelp reviews - I fell for that too), did not listen to my instructions and completely screwed up the length of my side-burns, making them horribly asymmetric. It was my first and LAST time - they are great at marketing, but their service and quality of work is shoddy at best. read more

You walk in and are asked to pay at a machine that only accepts cash. I put in a twenty and received 12 ones back for the as advertised 8 dollar haircut. Then, I asked for a simple men's short haircut. They only used clippers and a comb. At every other place I've been, they use clippers on the sides and back but then wet the hair and use scissors on top. Now I know why because here, when the clippers were cutting the top dry hair, it creates a cloud of small hair clippings that gets in my eyes and nose so I closed my eyes and tried to breath very shallow. It was not a quick cut. I was there for 45 minutes, but it felt much longer. The person was painfully slow and changed clippers at least 4 times and had issues plugging and unplugging them. When finished, i noticed that my hair was longest on the top corners of my head which looked funny so I asked to even that out. Another more senior person then stepped in. I asked if it would take much longer to fix and she said no and then proceeded to quickly try to even out the cut but it was rough handling and almost painful how she grabbed my head and rammed the clippers around. It seemed like she was really mad. She then said "done, check it now" and I said "no, I am done" because I was afraid of what she might do next. There is an lcd screen in front of you during the haircut, that shows local events calendars, and also a message that says something like "if you like your haircut, be sure to say thank you and be sure to tips well." I did not like my cut, but thanked them anyways and left a tip because I felt sorry for them. The place was completely empty the entire time I was there. read more

There is something very Japanese about this place either that or Silicon Valley visionary-like (but in a small way). The more I thought about it, the more I leaned to the latter but say influenced by the former. According to its promotional material, the shop offers the following 'features': $8 Haircut for every one, Professional Hair stylists, Hygienic UV Sterilizer, LCD TV. Basically, it offers exactly what every other haircut place offers but the price is $8. (To be clear the 'Hygienic UV Sterilizer' is for the stylists' equipment and not the customer). When you enter the small, minimalist shop you are 'greeted' by your first LCD TV. This is housed in a large wooden case and fashioned into a vending machine through which you purchase your haircut ticket that establishes that you paid and your service order number should you need to wait. The machine accepts cash only and change is in $1 bills only. This leads me to believe that this and all the other technology at this shop were developed locally in a garage by the owner using parts sourced on eBay. The change in $1 bills is easier to implement and it also gives you tip money for your 'professional hair stylist' who, the LCD TV will remind you, deserves a tip because 'they are employed'. Every stylist station has an LCD TV which cycles through a local event calendar for events that occurred 2 months ago, a few ads for other local businesses and a little self-promotion for F8 Quickcut itself - all peppered with slight grammatical mistakes that merely enhance the overall experience. Every stylist station is a tightly integrated, space-economical unit that has everything the stylist needs packed into it - including a floor vacuum. Because I was bored, closer inspection of these units yielded the observation that they all have unique assembly flaws and are clearly individually constructed much like the vending machine. Although there are 3 stylist stations, when I was there only one stylist was working. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my haircut. The haircut was perfectly acceptable for a balding, middle-aged man like myself and the stylist was pleasant enough. I gave the stylist a tip but she did not offer me one even though I, too, am employed. read more
