Monique is a treasure!!! I've been a patient of hers for the past 7+ years - first for a shoulder injury, then plantar fasciitis in both feet. Both situations I ignored until the pain became unbearable, yet Monique guided me to a full recovery from conditions I thought too severe to heal. I came to Monique pretty down on my luck; I was a personal trainer who considered myself to be quite fit, but I'd recently suffered a bad knee injury in the gym that had lead me to surgery. I was told lots of negative things by my surgeon, like that I would never run or squat again. This was so devastating for me on many different levels; not only could I not walk, I also couldn't work out, or do my job. A classmate from grad school lead me to F Squared and, to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. As an athlete, I'd been to several physical therapists for other sports injuries in the past, and it was never much besides a couple of minutes on the stationary bike, some stretching, and some body weight movements. I couldn't have been more wrong. First and foremost, I think what sets F Squared apart is that they approach your recovery process from a functional perspective. Their goal is to be able to get you moving and keep you moving for the rest of your life. And if you tell them a goal of your own (whether it's to be able to carry your kids around without throwing your back out, or to be able to military press 100lbs), they will do their best to get you there. In this way, they bring a truly cross-functional approach to physical therapy that mixes basically everything you can think of, depending on what it is you might need; from cupping, to massage, to dynamic movements, to Pilates, to weight training. They are experts! Because of this, I would recommend F Squared to anyone, from someone who is recovering from a severe injury, to a serious athlete who is working towards a fitness-related goal. To shoutout my physical therapist in particular: Monique is truly a gem, and she helped me overcome so many physical hurdles while also appreciating how tough this injury was on me mentally. Throughout my time with her, I learned so much that even as a trainer I didn't know. For example, not only am I back in the gym, but I'm deadlifting all the time! I am not one to usually write Yelp reviews, but had such a splendid time at F Squared Physical Therapy that I felt compelled to write one of (if not my actual) first review ever for them. I started going to F Squared at the beginning of 2018 and only stopped going when I had to move (because of my job) across the country. From day 1 the staff was incredibly attentive to my specific needs -- I am a cyclist with somewhat constant knee pain when I ride and I wanted ways to reduce my tendinopathy. F Squared was one of the few places (I've been to about 3 different physical therapy centers for the issue) that actually worked with and for cyclists. I was put on a regime to reduce my pain and increase my flexibility. Starting in March, Kelley Zupanek was hired by F Squared. She is a triathlete and immediately started to further refine my regime to make it so my cycling pain would go away. What I appreciated about Kelley was her constant encouragement and adjustment of my exercises. If something hurt me, she found a new way to do it. If I was feeling lazy with my exercises, she would encourage me. One of the great features of F Squared is the one-on-one time you spend with the therapist. Unlike other PT places I've been to, this individualized and constant attention made me much more cognizant and confident in my exercises. Given Kelley's instruction, I'm happy to say that my tendinopathy has been significantly reduced and I am still using the exercises she gave me weekly, if not daily. That all being said, if you are a cyclist and/or ride a bicycle and are looking for physical therapy involving this sport, I can't recommend F Squared Physical Therapy and Kelley enough! I saw a very skilled PT for a long time at F-Squared. When he left, I was assigned a new PT. I found the new PT knowledgeable about the medical aspect of treatment. However, I felt she was patronizing in her approach. For example, at times she would scold me. I have found as the years go by that sometimes service providers think it's acceptable to treat me like a child because I'm older; so that might explain it. When I tried to talk to her about how I felt disempowered by the way she treated me, she was not receptive. Anyhow, because she was skilled, I continued to see her. I shared the contact information with her for my two doctors who were treating me for my condition. She wanted to talk to an additional doctor; but because that doctor was not treating me for the condition related to my PT, I asked her not to. Nevertheless, she did contact this doctor against my explicit wishes. Then she was argumentative with me about it when I learned of it. Thinking that the employee would be instructed that her action was improper, and so she would not do it again, I didn't post a Yelp review. However, when I recently reached out to the owner, he defended her actions. Therefore, I'm posting this review so that potential clients will know that this office doesn't respect patient's wishes or privacy. Also, there were a number of scheduling mix-ups, such as double-booking. read more

Paul is the best physical therapist in the area hands down. He is the most knowledgeable and trustworthy pt I have worked with in my entire life. One session with Paul can be more beneficial than months spent in other pt offices. Paul is a master of his craft and is a right choice regardless if you are an elite athlete with serious injuries or a regular person with chronic pain. I wish I have found him months before so I could have saved myself a lot of time and pain. If you are injured or are in pain, you have found the right person. My time with F2PT was just about a year ago, and I'm sorry I didn't write this sooner, but I absolutely want to shed light on how wonderful these people are. I am a physical therapist myself, and a weightlifter/CrossFitter. I completely overdid it during one of the CF Open workouts, and after the soreness wore off, I had some residual back pain that wasn't all too concerning until it was a week later and I still couldn't bend to touch my toes or sit on the toilet without using my hands for support. I tried the self-treatment route and could get myself to a point where I could walk around, but anytime I would sneeze my back would go into a spasm to the point where it was impossible to stand without support. I knew the staff at F2PT because I train and treat people at Studio 26. During my first session with Paul, he was able to point out the most seemingly minuscule things about the way I moved, and was able to modify certain movements that I was having difficulty performing in such ways that I could do them without pain (such as squatting and performing hinging motions). This gave me incredible hope that my injury was not as serious as it felt. After 3 or 4 sessions I was pain-free and began gradually adding weightlifting back into my life. The first comment my coach made was that my squat looked way better than before I was injured. I definitely have Paul to thank for that! Since then, I was very hesitant to deadlift and go back to Olympic weightlifting, but with the improved awareness I had after seeing Paul, I've been able to gradually build back to where I was almost 4 years ago when I was training to compete (AND without any aids like a weightlifting belt). I thought that dream was way behind me, but now it is something I am working towards again! Thanks for everything! read more

I loved working with Andrew at F Squared. He was able to make a great assessment about my hip problem without even seeing xrays. He proceeded to really help me strengthen my hip and do great stretches. I eventually had to see a surgeon who confirmed I have osteoarthritis and that with proper strengthening and stretching I could get a couple more years out of it. For insurance reasons (and my rent almost doubling), I ended up going elsewhere temporarily at a significantly reduced cost. The other physical therapists were also good but there was something about Andrew that felt like he had a deeper understanding of the human body and my hip in particular. Now, I am likely going to book more sessions with Andrew in the near future because I feel as if I could have made more progress had I stuck with Andrew at F Squared in the first place. Clean facilities, shower, lockers, really close to the A,C,E train, very professional staff (some places people are a little too comfortable with their personalities, F Squared has good personality AND great professionalism). read more

Countless sessions with other physical therapists left me frustrated and no nearer to getting off the treatment table. Monique guided me through the healing and recovery process and helped me regain my balance and confidence. She has subsequently helped me with chronic neck/shoulder pain. Monique is world-class in her hands-on approach and her ability in assessing issues, diagnosing root cause, and ultimately developing personalized game plans to make you better. And on top of it all, she has a wonderful personality and a reassuring positive and inspiring attitude. I have been following PT Chad Woodard around since 2010. I am a dancer, and first met him after dealing with 10+ years of rotator cuff wear and tear and finally needing a cortisone shot. Chad helped me not only regain tons of strength, range of motion and ability, but he also imparted so much of his wealth of knowledge to me so that I could really take care of myself and continue to improve. I'm glad to say that I have been able to continue dancing, and my should doesn't hold me back. I've been able to continue dancing and doing all sorts of other related activities- gymnastics, pole dancing, puppetry and light weight training. Most recently I saw Chad at F2PT for a neck issue this fall. We set a goal of working through the issue in 8 weeks or so. Chad worked his magic and I was good to go after only 4 weeks. Chad is always personable, positive, and highly educational, all while working with the client's economic needs in mind. Chad really understood how to set limits so I could get better, and also balance these limitations with my need to keep moving for my sanity! The office is tranquil, pristine, and a wonderful place for healing to take place. F2PT was absolutely fantastic!! My ankle has never felt better!! Paul and Chad are real pro's and very helpful. Always willing to work with my hectic schedule and find a way to fit me in at the last minute! Oh yeh, and I'm uninsured. They didn't bat an eye. Just asked how soon I could come in. My ankle has been bad for as long as I can remember after a terrible sprain. It's been over 2 years. As a very fit and active person who cycles regularly, I knew this was something I needed treated asap. I original saw a physio therapist who worked on my ankle for 15mins a week - the remaining 45mins of the session was spent with physio assistants, most didn't have a good idea of what they were doing and what my needs were - without ever prescribing any home exercise. My ankle started to feel better but never felt better than 80% even after 10 sessions After dealing with the problem for years, I went and saw Paul at F2PT and within 6 sessions, Paul managed to strengthen my ankle to a level where I was cycling confidently once again. My ankle has never felt stronger and my cycling has improved drastically as a result. my top speed and cadence as well as the distances I can go have all come up as a result of Paul's work. Paul actually delved into the root of the problem (my lower back and sciatic nerve) rather than simply masking the symptoms to make me feel as though I was improving. he also encouraged me to work on exercises that he prescribed for me to do at home. Instead of keeping me in physio for more sessions, Paul insisted that I needed to continue the therapy at home so I could speed up my recovery. I came into F Squared Physical Therapy with low back pain. I'm a physical therapist and aggravated it when I was managing multiple patients by myself. I think most physical therapy places are pretty bad because patients don't spend enough time with their therapists. I've gone to a few PT's over the last years but have never had a better experience than with F2PT. I came to see Andrew for my IT band issue, and within a few weeks I was ready to train and race triathlons again. He properly diagnosed what was wrong, made it better with every session we had and was very good at explaining the issue and cause so I would understand and know what to do to keep it from coming back. Andrew also did two bike fits for me (different bikes) and both times I thought the results were amazing. They changed my riding tremendously and got me in a comfortable yet efficient position for my races. The facilities are also beautiful, which is a bonus. I highly recommend them! read more

Paul is exceptional PT -- I came to see him a year ago after a month of seeing a PT in a box like treatments....following a torn labrum shoulder surgery. He works out of a terrific loft space in a very casual, professional atmosphere. After cycling for over 200 miles for a fundraiser, I had serious knee issues that needed attention immediately. I went to F squared PT for about a month after the ride and before I knew it, my knees had improved dramatically. My PT was Paul Ochoa, very nice guy! Not only did the in session sports massages make a difference, but the exercises provided by my PT were simple, useful, and easy to complete during a workout session at the gym. Chad and Paul were wonderful! I had to go out of town for work a week after I was prescribed to go to PT for 6 weeks! F2PT somehow managed to see me right away and fit me in for a few sessions that week to get as much therapy in as possible before I had to leave town. Paul worked with me personally the entire session and never left me alone with exercises. I loved that he then gave me exercises to continue while I was out of town that progressed. F2PT is incredibly professional, friendly, welcoming, and comfortable. I never felt like I was being squeezed in out to see as many people as possible, like most PTs in NY. F2PT is amazing. I have been going here for a very nasty shoulder injury (bike accident with multiple clavicle breaks, scar tissue, nerve damage, rotator cuff damage) and they've worked wonders. With their help I did a marathon 6 months after the accident and am on target to do a half Ironman 9 moths after and an Ironman again 1 year later. Given how bad an injury I had this is amazing work! You couldn't find nicer and more thoroughly effective/knowledge people as Chad, Paul, and Gurbans. They're great! Very trustworthy. I can't recommend them more highly.
