Prior to coming out I called to see if an appt was needed. The lady on the phone (Kim?) mentioned that she was waiting to get a call on a family emergency and didn't want to say she'd be there, me show, and they be closed. I liked that she was upfront and honest, and very sincere in her apology for the inconvenience. I was like "hey girl, things happen". A few days later I was able to pick my glasses over lunch. I'm an in and out kind of person so I knew I wanted to stick with frames covered by insurance and didn't need alot of extras. Kim waited on me and was very mindful of my time and need to get back to work. While she did try to upsell a few options, she also explained why I might want them. She also gave me a deal better than my insurance would have covered. My glasses were ordered and ready in a little over a week. An appt is needed to pick them up. When my appt came, again trying to pick up over my lunch, the girl (not Kim) was on the phone which I suspect by the conversation was a personal call. I waited, sat up, stood up, walked around, and while I was acknowledged she made no attempt to get off the phone. Finally "delivering" them to me unchecked " try these on and let me know how they feel, good, great, call if you have any problems" all the while still having her phone to her ear. That experience could have been better. Never met the doctor, liked the hours, fact they took my insurance, and thought prices and turnaround time were reasonable. It just took one bad apple at pick up to change this from a 4 to 3 star review.

I wasn't seen until after 4:15 and was in with the doctor until almost 4:50. At that time, I was sent out to the office to pick out frames and order glasses. I was planning on getting 2 pairs and was trying on frames when one of the employees shut the lights out because they closed at 5pm. I couldn't see to try on the frames. I asked sarcastically if they wanted me to come back another time, although I work a 40 hour a week job and had to take time off to make that 4 pm appointment. No one said anything. The gentleman went and turned the lights back on and said to the other 2 ladies that he would stay. I felt pressured to hurry up picking out my frames and found it rather rude that they shut the lights out. Picking out glasses takes time, which they were very clear they didn't have any to spare. I took my prescription and left and I will not be back. They lost a yearly customer who purchases multiple pairs of glasses because they were bothered that the doctor didn't finish my exam until right before closing. The one woman even whispered to me that it wasn't my fault because the doctor liked to talk. Well guys, you sure made me feel like it was my fault and I won't be back. I work in a forward facing public service job and if any of my employees treated our patrons like I was treated at this office, they would be written up. Telling me to "have a good day" as I left shows how out of touch with customer service these people are. Obviously, I wasn't going to have a good day because they wasted my time and did not appreciate my patronage enough to keep the lights on.

We took a trip to Rehoboth Beach on a Friday and, being unfamiliar with the ocean, I went in with my glasses and lost them when a wave crashed into me. I have an especially strong prescription (-6.25 & -6.5), so not having vision correction for an extended time isn't a viable option for me. I called a few places on Saturday when we were home again, but they either had a two week turnaround time to make a new pair of glasses (not an option, as I'd be out of the state at that point) or didn't have lenses in my prescription in stock for a more quickly made pair. When I phoned ModernEyes, Emily answered my call and was immediately sympathetic, friendly, and very helpful. She was able to find lenses in my prescription, and when I went to ModernEyes to pick out a pair of frames to go with them, she was incredibly helpful in choosing styles that suited me and advising me on which pair would best suit my time constraints, budget, and personal style. (I feel like it's the first time my tastes have aligned so well with someone helping me pick out frames!) They were able to cut the lenses to fit the frames in house, and in about 30 minutes, my new glasses were ready. She helped me fit the frames comfortably to my face and assured me I could get them adjusted if they ended up feeling too tight or if the lenses were disorienting in any way. I can't adequately express my gratitude for her patience, warmth, and attentiveness. Something that I thought might derail my entire vacation ended up being resolved quicker than I could imagine. I recently had a problem with my Oakley's and took them back to see if they could be fixed. In order to fix them they had to order a part. I received the call that the lenses were in. After sitting in the waiting room a half hour I was told they were having difficulty installing the one lens, I waited another 1/2 hour before being told they wanted to send everything (lenses and frame) to be buffed to fit. After explaining I had no back up pair of glasses, the staff said I barely had a script and should be fine without glasses, (not what the Dr said). I declined, they ended up sending a drawing along with the lense that didn't fit back, Im now wearing the glasses with one new lens and one old one. Almost three weeks later I finally got my glasses with lenses after repeatedly calling and asking for my money back.
