Here's our experience with this Rx Optical... chose this place for my husband because it's close…read moreto his office. Employees there were nice and easy going. My husband ordered a pair of prescription glasses. When we went to pick them up, they gave us a completely different pair - different brand, different color. We confirmed this on our printed order/receipt. We ordered black frames, Dragon brand. We got blue frames that were larger than what he wanted, in another brand. My husband had to go back to get the right glasses. In the middle of all this, someone was talking my husband into getting prescription lenses for his Ray Ban sunglasses. He agreed. They got the information to make the lenses. My husband got a call a few days later: the Rx Optical employees had lost their information, could my husband drive back over there and come in so they could use his sunglasses and have a do-over. My husband did that. Within about a week, my husband got another call from Rx Optical. They lost the second set of information they had taken down to make his sunglasses lenses. My husband drove back over there a second time and went in to let them get the info they needed to make his new sunglasses lenses. THEN ...(wait for it...) Rx Optical called my husband a THIRD time. They'd lost the second set of information they took to make the glasses, could he drive over a third time? My husband's consolation prize was they said he got the free service of being able to call from the parking lot when he got there, and they'd walk out to his car to get the glasses instead of him having to get out of the car and walk through the door. Yes, I'm serious. As my husband was wearing his prescription reading glasses, he kept saying to me, "These things seem to just keep getting scratched... it's like air scratches them or something." We'd bought the Cryztal (they have a peculiar spelling lenses), which were the top they carried, and paid for insurance and I believe scratch protection. My husband asked me to take them in because we had insurance on them, and ask them to replace the scratched lenses. This time I got stuck dealing with the guy who's the manager. Nightmare. Arrogant little fellow. Kept trying to blame my husband for the scratches (on their BEST lenses with their scratch protection). Kept asking questions trying to find a way to blame my husband: Him: "What does he keep the glasses in?" Me: "The case you guys gave him." Him: What does he clean them with?" ( I wanted to say "Sandpaper" because I was getting so annoyed with this guy) Me: "He uses the little spray bottle and cloths you guys gave him." Him: "One of these scratches looks deep." Me: "That's why I'm here to use the insurance we paid for to get new lenses, these keep getting scratched fairly easily." Him: "What does your husband do for a living?" Me: "He's an IT Executive." Him: "Oh. I wondered if he worked outside where this might be because of working around sand or dirt..." On it went. THEN - get this - he charged me $58 for the new lenses. I said, "Wait - we paid for insurance, we're supposed to get replacements." He then informed me their insurance has a deductible (?!) and I had to pay $58 before he'd order the lenses my husband needed. I was on the phone with the employee (nice guy) who helped us with the glasses initially. Told him the manager charged me $58 when we bought the insurance package he suggested. He said it should have been free. I asked him to have the manager call me. When he did call, the manager said he was sitting next to the employee while he was on the phone with me, and he said the "FRAMES" would have been free, not the "GLASSES." I said, I was on the phone with him. He said the glasses were covered - glasses includes lenses. He said, "Hm. I was sitting next to him and I'm sure he said frames!" Ugh. My husband picked up the glasses today. Unfortunately the manager was there. He tried to lecture my husband on cleaning his glasses (seriously?") Going somewhere better next time!!!

The receptionist hardly looked me in the eye and just loudly said "DRIVER'S LICENSE AND INSURANCE PLEASE." No one wears a name tag and no one introduced themselves.. never knew who it was working with me or what they were doing. Last year, July 2023, I had an eye exam and needed new glasses. Big surprise…read more I went to GRO was because they're the only place in town that offers magnetic clip on sunglasses. The guy helping me asked if I wanted the transition sunglasses and I told him no because I wanted the clip on sunglasses. Everything seemed to go well. It took nearly 3 months for my glasses to arrive. I kept calling and got different excuses as to why it was taking so long. Very soon after I got my glasses, less than a week, I noticed that there were issues looking through the lenses. Spots of light all over the place. I went back to see what the problem was and they tell me that there was no anti-glare coating on the lenses. I told the guy that checked me out that I wanted everything but the transition sunglasses because I was getting the magnet clip on sunglasses. Apparently he screwed it up and didn't add anything to my lenses. It cost me another $100 to get this added. It took another 3 weeks to get my glasses back. Last week, less than 1 year of wearing my glasses, one of the magnets came out of my lenses. This made my clip on sunglasses useless. I went in today to see about getting this fixed. I was told that since I didn't have a warranty that it would "probably" cost $50, she really didn't have a clue. The magnet that I need replaced is almost as small as a pin head. She then told me that they would have to send my glasses back to the lab for the repair. She then said, seriously, that the other option would be to order new lenses. I said, irritated, that that would be over $500 and she responded by saying "yeah". I told her that I would never return to GRO and that I have never had such horrible service in my life. I walked out. During this whole ordeal they acted like it was MY PROBLEM, not theirs. The ridiculous delays, the conflicting excuses and I was powerless. They had my money and all I could do was wait. I DO NOT recommend anyone using GRO for yours frames and lenses. Take your script and go somewhere else. SVS has always treated me well and I've never had any issues with them. They just don't offer clip on sunglasses.

Just had my first appt and really enjoyed this office and it's staff!…read more The receptionist, ( both of them) were professional and kind. They had already checked on my insurance coverage, which takes a load off our minds right away. The optometrist, was amazing, and friendly! I could tell when I walked in people feel comfortable and cared for there. She took a full hour with me and explained different procedures with me, such as cataracts, contacts, bi- focals, eyelid correction& answered all my questions! Coming from a background where my brother Dr Dale Van Dyke, was always our family optometrist! I had moved back to Grandville and he was retired, so I tried the fast paced eye care places, like RX OPTICAL, etc...only to find rushed , and assembly line care. It was difficult to get answers and the followup I needed. I will follow up on this, later this year. Thank you WOODBRIDGE for being in Grandville! One more plus, my hearing ctr and there is a chiropractor ALL in the same building. I LOVE IT! L J Antonides
