Negatives: with my insurance which is decent I paid full price for progressive lens I did not need with a lot of options I didn't need for occupational glasses. I came for my distance glases(single vision)and needed up being talked into $300 glasses because the doctor wrote a prescription for them. I should've gone down the street and gotten the same pair on a bogo with exam for half price. read more

I saw a flyer for this place at a nearby Japanese restaurant and happened to have been wanting new glasses. So off to Davich I went! The optometrist was friendly and efficient, although the chair was a bit over-bolsterted. There's a massive selection of frames, most of them for lower prices than my optometrist back at home. The staff were all friendly and helpful, but the best part was definitely being able to walk out of the store half an hour later with my brand-new glasses (instead of the typical week-long wait). I'd definitely come here again if I'm ever in Grand Rapids feeling like I need new glasses. read more

I was looking up places to get a contacts lens fitting + eye exam, and happened upon this place via yelp. Super satisfied with the exam since it took only 30 mins, and the hefty student discount sealed the deal. The staff and optometrists were so welcoming. I read that there was a cafe in their office so me being a medical student, I wanted to post up and study after my exam. I got set up to study, and one of the optometrists was having a pleasant but loud convo with a customer. One of other optometrists asked him if he could be quieter since I was staying to study. I actually didn't mind the loudness because I come from a loud household, but i thought it was really sweet and considerate of her. Davich center staff is truly welcoming and accommodating! I went in for glasses and the girl I worked with (Haeri) was very nice. However, that was 3 months ago and the quality of these glasses is awful. I already need new ones because one lens has developed scratches just from normal cleaning, while the other lens is clear as a bell. I'm a middle-aged woman, not a person who is rough on glasses. It looks like they missed the scratch coating on one side, and my insurance only covers 1 pair of glasses every 2 years. I'm going somewhere else to buy new ones. I need them to last longer than 3 months. I should have realized the quality I was dealing with when my receipt was full of misspellings and even a wall decoration in the cafe area had the word "knowledge" misspelled. Sloppy, poor quality, and a disappointment. UPDATE 12/19/17: Since I posted this, here is what has happened: 1. I went back in to talk to them about it. I talked to Haeri, who was again very understanding and helpful. She said they would order me a lens and I could come back when it came in and they'd cut it for me. 2. Someone called when the lens came in and I was told that the person who cuts the lenses unfortunately isn't there after 4 on weekdays and you can't make an appointment for that. So, I left work early and went to the store. 3. I waited for a few minutes and then was told that the wrong lens had come in and they would expedite a new order. 4. After about a week I hadn't heard anything so I called and they told me that they were going to mail them to me. I was confused. 5. I got a follow up call from Haeri, saying that she had heard about all of the trouble I had had so she ordered me a brand-new pair of glasses with 2 new lenses and she would mail it to me so I didn't have to come back in to the store. 6. I received the new glasses with a cute case and little lens cleaning kit that matches. The glasses are perfect! TL;DR: Not overly impressed with this place. More hassle than I wanted to deal with. Davich Vision Center is truly an amazing gem. I came in because my wife's frames were broken. John, the Optical Manager, was able to find a frame that fit the old lenses perfectly. He was extremely friendly and helpful. The cool thing is that he found the perfect frames that are not only great looking but are also a great value. He did not go to find the most expensive or pricey pair of frames while helping me. My wife is very happy with my purchase. So if your frames are ever damaged or need new frames in general, please go to this place. It's truly amazing, and clean and modern on top of that. read more

I went to Davich Vision Center based on positive Yelp reviews. While buying the glasses, the experience was positive -- a helpful, knowledgeable employee. However, when I picked up the glasses, it was another story. I had some concerns about the prescription as the glasses made me dizzy. This employee said it was because of the progressive lenses and I would just have to get used to it; I have worn progressive lenses for 20 years. He demonstrated no interest in my concerns. He commented repeatedly that the lenses were the prescription my doctor had written. With that, he began a conversation with another employee about his fishing trip. All done by experienced eye care professionals. Dump the coke bottle glasses for name-brand frames from Coach and Prada to Ray Ban and Oakley. All at affordable prices. WORST EYE DOCTOR I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!!! I got a routine eye exam & they switched the prescription in my eyes that day while I was there and had to fix the mistake. (I have 2 different prescriptions in my eyes) Then I called a few months later to order contacts and they sent them to me and when they arrived they were blurry! I called them and told them and they INSISTED my prescription probably changed! How!? I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was in 3rd grade! My prescription didn't change in 3 months !!!! They sent me the WRONG LENSES. The box even had another persons name on! The people at the front desk AND the doctor were sooooooooooooo rude & didn't want to help me out AT ALL. After several calls the doctor finally tells me "oh you do have an Astigmatism".... WTF?! You never mentioned I had an astigmatism ever! So they send me a tester lenses with the astigmatism BUT in a 5.25 NOT 5.50 which they claimed the 5.50 was the correct prescription but just needed to add the astigmatism. I've been calling for WEEKS now trying to get on with a doctor and now I'm told the doctor I went to is out for a month! So I said let me talk to ANY doctor. "Oh well they're only in twice a week.... well depending on the week...." Then they say well you should go to a doctor in your area because your prescription has probably changed since we last saw you. TRUST I'm going to a different doctor BUT they NEED to rectify the contact order I placed with them MONTHS ago!!! read more

Went in here to pick up an extra pair of glasses before going overseas as a backup. The other reviews of this place on Yelp pretty much say it all. They give 50% off for Michigan State University students if you show them your school ID card. So my transaction cost $100 less than it would have if I weren't a student. That's a pretty good deal. The reason why you see advertisements for this place in Sushi Kuni nearby is because the restaurant and this store are owned by the same Korean owners. Korean ophthalmology students do exchanges and internships here and at Ferris State University, so that is why you see so many signs in Korean at this shop. It has a much more high-end feel to it than other glasses stores around town. Very happy with my two visits here. read more
